Regarding some earlier comments my wind speed was showing 8kts but I could not use deck gun (middle of Atlantic Ocean). On my way to Scapa Flow I was in the English Channel with a 6kt wind and I still couldn t use the deck gun. Other times It works fine. I m wondering if the wind speed displayed on the map view is accurate to the wind speed in game especially after time shifting.Regards

Not sure what the parameters are here. It's 17kn and I can man deck gun, but often it will look super calm and 6kn and I can't use it.

I need to know what conditions will work in so I don't surface to use the gun and give away my position.

ay does this make it so if u fire an AP shell at the lower hull it will make an actual hull instead of doing nothing.

Yeah, 8kt is just too perfect of a scenario... Dunno what else to say. Deck guns weren't practical, but I do like to use them nonetheless (when I can), but with that "speed limit" it's never possible.

Agree with Talbot on AA gun concern. Also 8 knots wind is a bit too low, 10 knots wind seems more reasonable.

I don't know if it's intended but the AA gun cannot also be manned when the deck gun can't.
It would be nice to be able to use the AA gun even if there is more than 8kt wind, since it's located in the conning tower and was much more easy to handle and so probably could realistically have been used.

Great,aiming is not funny, this gun has optical sights which would be nice to use.I take gun but manual,not good in auto ,my gunner shoot very bad haha.Great mod!

the condition is only checking the windspeed. I will test later today in shallow water. But to be honest it doesn't make much sense to me.

I was in higher wind speed beyond 8kn but in those certain depths and the deck gun could be manned.

Have you tested it in a storm but in shallower water?

I do use DEM and Iron Coffins, I know Iron Coffins uses Improved Ballast Control, I do not know if that is making the deck gun work. I do not know if it is stabilizing the uboat more.

hmm weird. No any errors in logs?
the condition is currently windspeed > 8.1. On the map it indicates no decimals. 8.05 would be possible to man the dg and indicate 8 on the map. 8.3 would be locked but indicate 8 on the map too. I consider increasing it to 10. From 9 already waves are high enough to wash over the deck.

Yeah it is connected with depth. Once I got into around -100m I can not use deck gun. There must be a hidden mechanic in game that stabilizes the boat more when in shallowish water, maybe about -100. I am not sure where the cut off is.

Ok, it did it again. I am at 8kn sea. Just a second ago, I was not allowed to put on deck gun, they now I can. I time accelerated a tiny bit and the depth showing on map is lie -18. So I am wondering if it is the shallows. Or it the wind sea speed is not right.

Seems fine now.

I think the 8kn might need to be changed. 8kn in game seems very calm sea. It seems like most of the time it is 8kn sea.

It was from the save. From that instant the gun was manned, it is because I had to get log from later. But When I noticed error, it was not manned. I was in Tab menu during the rain and I saw option for deck gun, that is when I noticed problem.

Then I manned the deckgun and fired it.

I am not sure if that area I was in was very shallow. I know the map screenshot showed it not that deep, but I do not know where my mouse was at the time of screenshot.

Well this worked fine yesterday when I did it on a new save. +8knot wind I was not able to put anyone on deckgun. Today I load my save, I did some time compression. I am in rain with 15knot wind I am able to put someone on deck gun and fire.

Sehr gute Idee. Das jetzt die Kanone bei schlechtem Wetter gesperrt ist finde ich nicht ganz so gut. Ansonsten gefällt mir der Mod sehr gut. Vielen Dank für die Arbeit:steamhappy:

it should work with hards deck gun mod, but i cant say for sure and i didn't test myself.
Hards mod is dealing with damage, this mod is dealing with accuracy. There should be nothing conflicting but needs to be tested.

Yeah maybe you can add something like that in here, where the closer you are the better the manual shots are and further out and the max range set, the manual shots are not accurate in the first 5 shots or so, like how you have it now.

I like this. I kind of been waiting for something like this. In SH5 there was a mod that wouldn't allow the deck gun to be man at rough seas and I think the mod nerfed long shots, there was a minimum range a player had to use the deck gun. I was waiting for something like this in Uboat.

That is a good idea about the AI shooting better, there are crap and I tend to get in the position all the time to get hit.

I love deck gun realism. In the past with SH5 and its deck gun mods, I tend to get very close to take shots on a ship. One it is better and two it saves ammo on trying to fire so far away. Makes those bad shots count when up close.

There is so many new mods coming out, I might have to start a new save, lol.
