I made some fixes. No guarantees about quality but it seems to work for me.

https://pastebin.com/PSyh6Y6n - replace AnimalEpona.xml contents with this to fix Gear tab
https://pastebin.com/GV4jKcbd - add this as a new file to the same folder. Should fix the animals.

Hello. It seems that the Gear tab are still showing vanilla Armor stats, and there's no Mass and Bulk indicator shown.
