@Hohen I think it's fix now but it was sort of a blind fix since I couldn't reproduce it myself, rather only see how it may potentially error. Let me know if you still get the error and I'll take another look.

For some reason I started getting an error when Dryads emerge from their cocoons. I'm not sure if it's both vanilla and modded dryads but I know modded ones for sure. It's pretty large for a single error. https://pastebin.com/gArg5Hbp

Also, I don't have the error on hand but I was using the mod that allows colonists to play the drums whenever and it seemed to throw an error as well here and there.

Interesting. Didn't know that because I eventually turned off background music (can only hear the same ol' track so many times, you know?). But now that you mention it, that makes some of the code I was looking at make more sense now, was wondering what it was doing exactly lol. I may be able to do something about it, I'll have to tinker a bit....

I tried and answer is no :/

When you play with a close zoom, the game music will be muted when you go near someone playing music (to let hear instrument music). I think same happens for rituals and Royalty ceremonies.

So with your mode, the instrument music can be muted, but the game music is still muted.

@Yoann - not sure what you mean. That's a thing that happens?

@Blade and Scha - I took a look and no it's just the vanilla instruments. Or more accurately, it applies to anything that has the "soundPlayInstrument" node in the def's XML.

How generic it is? There is a gramophone in old Industrial Objects mod for example.

The VFE mod has a piano, dunno if that one requires the DLC, but does it affect that one's music as well? It's the same track as the Harpsicord, afaik.
