Don't get me wrong, I am all for style tolerance. I find the Modeling quite talented and the implementation interesting, and while it is not really my style, people are free to do whatever they want with their Bodies/TF2 Characters.
My grieving grudge lies with the lore-friendlyness: First of all, the weakest argument: The game is set in the fictional fifties, right?
That is true, until you consider that items like the Beep-boy (The IRL Game Boy - 1989) were implemented into the game.
The real problem is that the Item fits none of the mercenaries personalities, nor does it relate to an in-game event, e.g. MvM or Halloween. It just simply doesn't fit, no matter how you turn it.
Sell all items
Buy a ton of these
and remove them all and
kill myself
And to all the people saying "this doesn't fit TF2's time period"... neither do the Grordbort items! I'm almost comletely sure energy weapons did not exist in the 1970s. They also didn't have teleporters. Or advanced robotics of Grey Mann's caliber. It's just as crazy as anything else in the game.
