After you install TF2, re-open gmod; click the game controller icon in the bottom right corner; find Team Fortress 2, and click a small check box next to it.

after this, close the menu, restart gmod; and try again.

TF2, Team Fortress 2; its a game.
And regarding the 4 meter thing? idk why that happened, maybe a issue with the map.
