the gates are almost instantaneous, your doing something wrong.

The logic gates work pretty slow, and are really impractical. Piston gates seem like a better option, as they are a lot less noisy than the constant tick tick ticking of the metronome. They only work 50% of the time I give an input, so I can't recommend to anyone looking for quick, reliable gates. Could use some work.
