Use Unrestricted Customization Redux with global appearance option enabled.
bidiguilo 20 Jul @ 9:09am
I have a soldier that looks really cool when wearing the spider armor, but whenever he wears another armor he changes his look completely. I've been trying and I cannot figure out how to make him keep his look without changing it manually every time
Pixel Daimyo 15 Jul @ 8:53pm
It July 15, 2025. This mod is still functioning properly.
Iridar  [author] 6 Jul @ 6:19pm
Okay, yes, the mod is incompatible. Please don't use my mod, it is incompatible with you.
Daddy Takeda 6 Jul @ 6:02pm
Or, maybe we just have a different opinion as to how we define "compatibility"? I suppose your obnoxious condescension would prevent you from understanding that.
Iridar  [author] 6 Jul @ 5:59pm
@Rorschach
Like I said, just don't use that button. UC prevents Appearance Store functionality from working as intended.

@Daddy Takeda
I know the expression, I'm saying it doesn't apply. You said this mod is incompatible with UC. That statement is factually incorrect, which you would know if you (1) read the mod description before commenting like you were supposed to or (2) actually read and understood my reply to your comment.
Daddy Takeda 6 Jul @ 7:43am
You never heard the expression "tomato tomato"?
Rorschach 6 Jul @ 3:13am
Hi Iridar, thank you so much for responding. Weirdly enough the appearance store does have some functionality in-game as my characters are pulling outfits that are available to them from that menu (and turning into ungodly mixes of cosmetic mods). Is there anything I can do on my end to disable it fully?
Iridar  [author] 6 Jul @ 12:23am
Reading comprehension, what even is that?
Daddy Takeda 5 Jul @ 11:20pm
Tomato tomato.
Iridar  [author] 5 Jul @ 11:08pm
It's not incompatible with UC, and no, it doesn't include UC's functionality.
Daddy Takeda 5 Jul @ 11:01pm
I see this is incompatible with 'Unrestricted Customization - Wotc', does it mean your mod incorporate everything from UC rendering it obsolete?
Iridar  [author] 5 Jul @ 10:44am
You're not supposed to have access to Appearance Store button while using UC or UCR. If you do, just don't click on it, it's not going to work anyway.
Rorschach 5 Jul @ 4:19am
I know Iridar's effectively retired but if anyone has encountered these bugs and found solutions, I would be really grateful for your help!
Rorschach 5 Jul @ 4:19am
Running both Appearance Manager and Unrestricted Customization Redux (UCR), and I have encountered two annoying bugs:

1. The Stored Appearance tab is still visible, and when I go through and delete unwanted outfits, the game just freezes which then requires a restart.

2. This is to do with UCR, so I will ask this question on that mod page as well but maybe someone knows what's going on with it. Basically, when I untick the "Global Appearance" box in UCR's Mod Config Menu, I am unable to equip non-tier specific torsos on my characters without the loadout automatically switching to that armor. To illustrate what I mean, I have a character who has Kevlar Armor equipped but I want them to look like they are wearing the Wraith Torso. When I untick that box in the Mod Config Menu as I mentioned, the game refuses to let me equip the Wraith Torso without it also changing the character's loadout item to Wraith Armor.
lolmatter0 12 Jun @ 1:46am
Copy thanks for the answer, had no idea you were retired mb! Have a lovely day
Slackboy101 9 Jun @ 9:41pm
For some reason it does the first batch of rookies then it doesn't...
Iridar  [author] 5 Jun @ 9:38am
Since this mod doesn't modify base game's soldier customization UI, I assume the issue is caused by PD adding its own interface on top of IAM's, this is something that needs to be fixed on PD's side, and not something I could do even if I wasn't in retirement.
Dragon32 5 Jun @ 7:15am
@lolmatter0
I doubt there will be compatibility from this side: Iridar's retired.
lolmatter0 4 Jun @ 4:54pm
A question, will this mod ever have compatibility with Dollhouse?
Right now the menus overlap with the standard ones when Dollhouse & it are running
not_buddhanuff 12 May @ 12:45pm

RustyDios 11 May @ 5:29pm
eg for Iridar's mod here just above the title

XCOM 2 > Workshop > Iridar's Workshop > [WOTC] Iridar's Appearance Manager

clicking "Iridar's Workshop" will take you to everything he's ever done
RustyDios 11 May @ 5:28pm
if you look at the top of the workshop pages... there is a "path" ... if you click the authors name in that path, you'll go direct to their portfolio, with all the mods they've made public ;)
not_buddhanuff 11 May @ 4:31pm
Since I have you for a moment, is there anywhere with all of your own mods, Rusty? I usually follow good authors but obviously I can't. Maybe a playlist?
not_buddhanuff 11 May @ 4:13pm
Found it.

Many thank
much appreciate
RustyDios 11 May @ 3:05pm
They are saved as full units in your character pool (actual uniforms) should be under your normal units from the main menu

If you mean an individuals appearance per armour look at "manage appearances" from the armoury of that unit
not_buddhanuff 11 May @ 2:52pm
Is there a way to remove saved uniforms? Not seeing it in-game
Konstance™ 19 Apr @ 1:48pm
This might be a long stretch but could there be any way between this and Dollhouse to be made compatible together by chance? See if both you and the Dollhouse creator could find a way to make it work?

This would help alot as i enjoy each customization mod equally with their pros and cons together, so keep on the good work!
CzechBall 17 Apr @ 11:41am
Random Soldier Info doesn't show up when I use this, help?
Iridar  [author] 31 Mar @ 11:54am
There's no controller support.
Comrade Khleb 31 Mar @ 8:31am
Is there any way to use this mod with controller ?
Sol Silvrash 13 Mar @ 6:30pm
how hard would it be to implement this feature?
* choosing the base/avenger-only appearance for our soldiers

I wanted to see my soldiers wear casual clothes inside the avenger.

will this be possible to implement, and if it does, where can I ask for help on figuring how to do this? Thank you very much
Fuzz 1 Mar @ 1:14am
Yep, Choose My Class works just fine. It was fault of Commander's Choice.
Good to have that problem gone. Thank you again ^^

My only suggestion might be adding that to the known compatibility issues, since I couldn't find anything about it before I posted.
Iridar  [author] 28 Feb @ 2:20pm
Likely due to bug within with CC itself. See if the issue persists while using Choose My Class instead, which is a similar mod, but doesn't have a particular bug from CC.
Fuzz 28 Feb @ 11:28am
This mod is great, and I've enjoyed it thoroughly.
The ability to colorcode classes is basically essential to me, the automation on promotion and even being able to include patterns and other gear like head and weapons is great.
Solid vivid color is hard on the eyes and the deco patterns being applied make that issue go away.

Thank you.

There is one issue that the mod seems to have when paired with Commander's Choice.
Promoting through CC completely breaks automatic uniform management on a character.

I don't mean just when you promote them, I mean entirely. Even when changing the armor or upgrading armor later on, the currently six soldiers, and the four from my last campaign all of whom were promoted with CC refuse to use automatic uniforms.
*Manual application of uniforms works correctly*

I have a rather tame modlist and no customization or class mods (other than Long War of the Chosen "LW2 Classes") so if it does normally work with CC, I'm unsure what's happening.
Generic Roughneck 28 Feb @ 6:11am
I just can't get this mod to work correctly. I can save all the appearances/uniforms I like, but after I equip new armour I can not apply the saved appearance. Anyone else having this issue?
Aemr 30 Jan @ 4:01am
Just couldn't make it work so I booted up my Windows partition and used AML, runs perfectly fine now. Linux gaming has come very far in the last few years but modding can still be awkward.

Anyway, fantastic mod. Exactly what I wanted. It's not overly complicated at all, it has nuanced functionality. It's a testament to how much I like your mod that I'm willing to degrade myself by using Windows just for it.
Aemr 29 Jan @ 7:15am
Hmm, something's up though. it seems to run fine with just Highlander, but doesn't run with this one. I'm going to try running the Windows version through Proton and see if that helps.
Iridar  [author] 29 Jan @ 7:10am
It shouldn't be a problem with this mod, but my Resizable Armor mod has issues with Linux.
Aemr 29 Jan @ 6:56am
Linux. I suspected that might be the problem.
Iridar  [author] 29 Jan @ 6:45am
Are you on Linux or Mac?
Aemr 29 Jan @ 6:25am
Unfortunately, for me this mod leads to crashes when starting or loading a game, citing 'signal 11' and 'segmentation error'. I've narrowed the culprit down to just this mod, which is a shame because it seems really cool.
SynthLizard8 21 Jan @ 9:00pm
Thank you so much for this mod! it took some time figuring everything out but it's pretty amazing, now I can Specialists specifically dress according if they are a medic or a tech.
Alexandr 20 Jan @ 9:40pm
Impish, you do not have to use the mod, thankfully. I find it exactly as complicated as is necessary for all its functionality!
Impish 15 Jan @ 10:42am
this shit is way too complicated
Shin Navideño 11 Jan @ 7:14pm
I'm trying to make the mod work similar to vanilla to unmodified, new rookies. As in equipíng the default cosmetics on using the default stuff.
Iridar  [author] 10 Jan @ 7:58am
You can set up your Viper soldier to not receive uniforms automatically. And then set up individual appearances for them in Character Pool.
Celoco 9 Jan @ 3:45pm
Got a question, will you be adding/changing the uniform management when it comes to soldier class?

I ask cause when I apply a uniform(modded unrestricted) to all classes, my Viper units that I get become weird.

---

Personally, I like how you did with the non-soldier options. So I am also wondering if it would be possible to have that function for most uniform setups as well to allow some randomness for them without having to make new uniforms.
NachoKrow14 19 Dec, 2024 @ 9:03am
You are a genius, good person! That was the issue, good catch!
Thank you so much!
Have a great festive period! <3
NachoKrow14 19 Dec, 2024 @ 8:36am
I had no clue that might be an conflict, wow lol. I will take a look and see if that's the issue.
