Is this working again?
Tortellobello45 18 Apr @ 1:58pm
this is the only MMM that needs an update, the others are either updated or there's no point in updating them. I hope this one gets an update, because it could be a nice mod.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3047880492&searchtext=more+game+rules has a game rule (Hidden Boon and Curse) that fills the same functionality as this mod. That's what I switched to once this mod went over a month after patch without an update.
GamerGirlDK 1 Jan @ 3:03pm
Does this sill work?
Angus The Red 31 Dec, 2024 @ 9:26am
Dark Ages mod also has a game rule "Delayed Genetics" that appears to do the same thing. It's very well supported.

This mod has a "Hidden Boon And Curse" game rule that does a similar thing. I haven't tried it yet.

Can confirm that traits do not get revealed when children reach adulthood
赤色骨牌 19 Aug, 2024 @ 7:46am
traits were still grey although my son was over 25
Arcimbaldo 3 Aug, 2024 @ 12:52pm
anyone know if this is compatible with EK2?
Kane [ESP] 1 Aug, 2024 @ 4:36am
I think it is not compatible with AGOT as I had six children with genius traits and none of them got it... also none of the other children got traits other than hale.
niardra 25 Jul, 2024 @ 10:39pm
Strong and Shrewd are still showing up as hidden traits.
firespark84 7 Jul, 2024 @ 12:53pm
does this work with obfuscate? I have tons of adults with the greyed out congenital traits
Inspector Gadget 5 Jul, 2024 @ 2:06pm
I've been getting issues with some traits never getting revealed by adulthood, Is there any way to remove the mod without deleting everyone's traits?
Hecleas 13 May, 2024 @ 3:47am
Can you make this same kind of mod, but which hides all the hereditary traits of the characters in the game, except those of our own character or not?
Citoyen 2 Apr, 2024 @ 6:51pm
This mod is cool af

Trick or Trait updated for Scythe 1.12
niardra 2 Mar, 2024 @ 12:48am
I've seen Strong and Shrewd added as ToT traits, which doesn't make sense since they aren't genetic traits.
Solmyr 1 Feb, 2024 @ 3:03pm
Does this conflict with Improved Personality Formation System?

Mod updated for 1.11.2
Farbrokado 15 Nov, 2023 @ 3:32am
This is the only mod I have installed and for some reason I never seem to get an event popup to tell me if my child has an inheritable trait.
MrFunEGUY 21 Sep, 2023 @ 10:02pm
This mod still works fine. Only thing is that it doesn't work for the trait Fecund, for some reason.
wswillstewart 18 Sep, 2023 @ 1:17pm
Anyone know if this is compatible with Wards & Wardens?
Osium 25 Jun, 2023 @ 5:05pm
Is there a version that just hides inheritable traits permanently?
Ariex 22 Jun, 2023 @ 11:49am
FYI, discord link is broken ^^

Hello, here are some of my thoughts and suggestions after using this mod. Some of my friends and I argue that waiting until the age of 16 (which is too old for these traits) to fully reveal a child's genetic traits lacks sufficient immersion. Generally speaking, children can demonstrate their intelligence, appearance, and physique from the age of 8 to 12. Therefore, I personally suggest that it may be more in line with the facts to change the time of revealing children's traits to 12 years old. BTW, I sincerely hope you can make this mod compatible with "petty's inheritable traits"!

does this do anything to character portraits because mine broke?
tilarium 19 May, 2023 @ 7:41am
What happens if they are supposed to get a train but it isn't revealed before they turn 16? Do they instantly get it? Is it lost?
ZarKimbo 17 May, 2023 @ 6:54am
@Mucc There is a mod for that already, but it hides ALL traits for characters you don't know that well https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874007571
MrFunEGUY 16 May, 2023 @ 5:55pm
@$haigadough - You have a mod conflict. When they become 16, their normal traits should be revealed. If that doesnt happen, its a conflict.
Riaman 15 Apr, 2023 @ 8:53pm
are you using some other mod, because there is one mod which fixes learning education bug which makes this mod stop
Shaigadough 27 Mar, 2023 @ 9:46am
this mod's a sham :/ none of my children ever got their trait revealed, would not recommend.
Shaigadough 21 Mar, 2023 @ 10:40pm
Do I have to be a child to reveal the traits? All my heirs are adults and have not unlocked their intelligent trait, will they eventually develop it or can i unlock it once i take over and play as that character despite them being an adult? I'm confused as to how this mod works exactly.
squerrl 12 Mar, 2023 @ 9:10pm
Reading through the "Gradual reveal of inherited traits..." section of the description gave me the impression that the outcome of childhood events will determine whether a trait will be inherited . Reading further clarified that the outcome will only affect whether the inherited trait will be revealed . I suggest you clarify the wording there a bit :)
Mucc 7 Mar, 2023 @ 2:05am
I have a question. Can you make a mod that hides all personality traits of every charater outside of our court? So we need to spy on characters or befriend/diplo people first before we can engage with them or meet them during festives. This mod would just hide personality traits in the UI for us until we engaged with the people. Would be cool because I am not capable to mod it myself I barely made one mod to prevent birth overflood for my character.
Without Reason 11 Feb, 2023 @ 6:53pm
Hey Stik, thanks for the 1.8 update! Glad to see you back on the workshop.
Timou 12 Dec, 2022 @ 12:48am
No update needed 1.8 ?
DondarfSnowbonk 28 Nov, 2022 @ 12:25am
This seems to work fine with 1.7, no update needed except to change the version number.
Timou 23 Nov, 2022 @ 10:27am
Please update to 1.7
Dallan 12 Sep, 2022 @ 9:30am
I really like this idea and hope you'll be updating it to 1.7, but I'm curious why it's also being applied to traits like Strong/Weak/Shrewd/Dull, which as far as I know aren't congenital? (they're granted via lifestyle perks and events).
Alexander Erebus 9 Sep, 2022 @ 3:54pm
Will this mod be updated too 1.7?
Razl 7 Sep, 2022 @ 4:38pm
I would love it if this system applied to all citizens. So that only after you get to know a person, you gradually learn what traits he or she has. The game is too easy if you only marry highly intelligent supermodels.
puggy 29 Jul, 2022 @ 11:55am
No longer seems to work as intended as people will continue to have a grayed out congenital trait long into old age deaths.
Cardolam 27 Jul, 2022 @ 11:28am
@Stik' | Mostly Mechanical Mods

Dos this mod enters into account with the variables ACTIVE_TRAIT_CHANCE_ACTIVE_ACTIVE and ACTIVE_TRAIT_CHANCE_ACTIVE_INACTIVE (both control the probability of a character to inherit traits). Can I use this mod with different values there than vanilla, while the mod considers the new values?

Thanks!
rat 22 Jun, 2022 @ 11:09am
Does this have an effect on education? In the base game, children have a higher chance of getting a good education if they have a positive intelligence congenital trait.
undercoveryankee 7 Jun, 2022 @ 1:11am
@niardra That can happen if another mod overrides events/education_and_childhood/coming_of_age_events.txt. Are you running any other mods that would plausibly affect those events?
niardra 28 May, 2022 @ 9:47pm
Found a bug in my playthrough the hidden traits are never unhidden, even after the child has become an adult.
[Army of Two] AXIS 23 Apr, 2022 @ 3:54pm
Yeah I agree with Ted below, when I went to school I was a wimp until early puberty, I ended up being the strongest kid at school, even though I was short in height xD Lets say, it was noticed both at sports and at school because the kids two years senior to us stopped messing with us. But strength might become clear later, like puberty, intelligence would become clearer earlier.
Though one thing, some kids tend to show extreme intelligence early, but stagnate at college and become bypassed, they might have some disorder for example, so they are high functioning in certain things but low functioning in others... SO, it isnt always clear cut.
Ted Cruz's Corpse 23 Mar, 2022 @ 12:50pm
I somewhat disagree with the implementation of this. Hale and Quick children certainly might need a while for their advantages to become clear, and looks is a crapshoot before puberty, but very smart children (and, I assume, very physically-inclined ones) make themselves very clear.

My son is 13 and writes about architecture at a level more expected of a postgraduate student, and it has been impossible for him to hide it from anyone for more than a few minutes since he was young (not because he brags, though I do about him! It's just abundantly clear in how he communicates and thinks.) Genius and Herculean-Amazonian should honestly be visible by 3 or 4, and Robust and Intelligent both by 8.
