@dannybuck8450 Nice to see you having such a blast with it! I payed special attention to create replayability, thus there are at least four different ways to play this scenario, depending on who you encounter during your exploration of the map! ;)

This was FUN!!!!!! I'm not very knowledgeable of Irish history, but this scenario had me reading all about it! The Normans had some interesting times in Ireland and England.....this scenario gives a great taste (bad and good) of all or much of the things that happened. My first playthrough, I basically conquered all of Ireland and punked the British king (and killed him). Who knows what I'll do next time.....perhaps the 2nd best scenario I've played on Steam.

ahh ok i didnt notice the current thx for the tip
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 10 Dec, 2019 @ 4:05pm
@tavin44: You need to make sure the boat does not sail onto a reef. Everytime a current pulls it towards rocks you need to readjust its course so it stays in safe waters. :)
tavin44 10 Dec, 2019 @ 2:18pm
i took the boat first time and it blew up in the water and was game over..so i think boat was bugged
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 10 Dec, 2019 @ 1:43pm
@tavin44: Depending on your choices it can be a very short or a longer build and destroy scenario. (If you take the boat instead of the shortcut through the forest you will have a longer game for example.)
tavin44 10 Dec, 2019 @ 1:39pm
liked that scenario was very short tho lol
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 5 Feb, 2019 @ 6:24am
@okikoki: If you find the Scots (blue) in the forest you side with them. If not, you will assist your king.
okikoki 4 Feb, 2019 @ 10:01am
AFro damo how do you decide who to help?
Drolsorcen 30 Dec, 2018 @ 4:43pm
Yes, thanks again!
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 30 Dec, 2018 @ 4:21pm
@Necroslord: You were the lad who also commented on Youtube as well I guess? If yes then we got this sorted out I think. ;)
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 29 Dec, 2018 @ 3:28pm
@Necroslord: Which ReadMe are you talking about? Are the ingame instructions unclear?
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 2 Dec, 2018 @ 3:09pm
@Damo Wolfpaw: This was the most important thing for me in this scenario. Have different things you can do and different approaches to those. ("Liberator" or "Conqueror"), will the local villagers help you out or will they stand against you etc.. :)
Damo 2 Dec, 2018 @ 3:05pm
A Great Scenario and I love that you can decide which side you want to help :)
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 14 Nov, 2018 @ 3:32pm
@Brodsko: That was an easteregg implemented as a thank you towards the very enthusiastic voice actor who helped me making this scenario awesome. :P
Brodsko 14 Nov, 2018 @ 1:46pm
Hi Alkhalim i have a question.

There are any "Frankfurt Lamborghini" trigger? I have sailed with Richard into that island but nothing happened.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 20 Aug, 2018 @ 11:03am
@Murin: By all means, do that. Tristan and Isolde has some truly unique design and tell quite a moving story as well. Something that is quite rare in Age of Empires Scenarios..
Murin 20 Aug, 2018 @ 11:02am
Lol :D thx for that great scenario now i can start Tristan and Isolde
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 20 Aug, 2018 @ 10:10am
@Murin: The Donkeys are trade cards basically. Use them to trade with Waterford. :)
Murin 20 Aug, 2018 @ 9:52am
I tried diffrent things but i still dont get any use for those 3 donkeys:steamsad:
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 19 Aug, 2018 @ 7:20am
@Murin: You can do what your king tells you to. If you do, you can choose between posing as a liberator or invader. If you do not want to follow your kings demands you can rebel against him and again either try to win the people for your cause or lead a massive Scottish army into England and plunder everything. ;)
Murin 19 Aug, 2018 @ 6:37am
@Alkhalim so there are 3 options to finish ? mh i think need to play it again :D
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 19 Aug, 2018 @ 5:29am
@Murin: If I remember correctly you need to plunder gold from the British mines and then move your hero into their camps. (You can only choose one per playthrough.)
Murin 19 Aug, 2018 @ 5:11am
diffrent ways for Victory but i dont figur out how i can interact with yellow
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 25 May, 2018 @ 1:37pm
@The Chosen One: That would be a neat idea, I planned to to a rework of this scenario with all the new features of the expansions anyway. :)
The Man In The Arena 24 May, 2018 @ 4:11pm
I think there's room for additions here in terms of secret endings. For instance I found one where you can go collect the king's army and only then go after ally with the scots to kill the king. This would let you do "hard mode" where you'd be able to get both armies but you have to destroy both enemies (the english and irish)
Pictus Yam 11 May, 2018 @ 5:18pm
LoL!
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 16 Apr, 2018 @ 2:55am
@pictus_yam Well, you got to leave those kind of backdoor open for speedrunners after all... :P
Pictus Yam 15 Apr, 2018 @ 9:38pm
I took Henry to William. I changed to neutral with his team. I killed Henry and wiped out his soldiers, who still viewed me as an ally and did not fight back. Then I destroyed York's castle and won the scenario.

I think that's a serious glitch. The map looks cool, but I easily bypassed everything. :-(
The Gallowglass 13 Jul, 2017 @ 6:02pm
Alkhalim do the Irish one.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 6 Jul, 2017 @ 5:55pm
@Shining Force Additionally the Normans offer some unique options gameplaywise, since they were both involved in British and Irish affairs, allowing you to take different parts when playing the mission.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 6 Jul, 2017 @ 5:54pm
@Shining Force: But didn't the Irish, well.. stand les than successful in this conflict? I actually thought about doing a scenario about the unification wars of the Irish, but the information I could collect there was rather sparse. Everything in Waterford and the surrounding area was all about Strongbow... ;)
The Gallowglass 6 Jul, 2017 @ 6:39am
Ew. Why would you want to be the Normans though? Make one so you can be Irish.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 5 Apr, 2017 @ 12:38pm
@roryauld Thank you, will definitely look into that. ;)
dogbiscuit13 8 Feb, 2017 @ 1:22pm
:D
Magma Dragoon 15 Jan, 2017 @ 11:11am
to clarify I mean I was able to get both crush the rebellion and kill the king objectives simultaneously
Magma Dragoon 15 Jan, 2017 @ 11:09am
I played on hard. While trying the historic route again I managed to get Henry's troops to join me at his encampment and then go back and recruit the woad raiders in the forest and gain the objective to assassinate Henry. I opted not to kill him, and got my woad raiders through his camp by dropping them off via transport which does not turn him hostile (this can be exploited to assassinate with no casualties). Considering the number of pikes and longbows I get from him, and transports, I could have cakewalked through his cavalry charges up north or possibly even sailed to William's camp an skipped most of the scenario.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 15 Jan, 2017 @ 5:05am
@Magma Dragoon: Thanks a lot for your detailed review of this scenario. :) It is a good thing that you mentioned the areas where this scenario could still be improved in parts, as I planned on doing a "remastered" version of it utilizing some of the new expansions' assets as well as balancing some more.
Btw: If you destroy the docks, the remaining villagers will no longer join your cause, as you are no longer seen as a liberator and more as a intruder. Also, if you walk further to the north after destroying the docks you can help a group of bandits to burn down a village instead of defending it and stripping the dead bandits for their armor, boosting the rest of your army. However, I think taking the Scottish Infantry makes it easier to win the scenario all in all.
Also, might I ask which difficulty you played it on? (It gets a lot harder on higher difficulty, more enemies, better micro and squishier Strongbow ;) )
Magma Dragoon 13 Jan, 2017 @ 7:31pm
Just finished the assassination route and lost the historic route a few times.

I don't see any negative repercussions for burning the docks, by the time I can reach them I've already recruited everything orange has to offer and I get even more infantry. The Tuetonic Knights guarding the mines can be easily by splitting off my archers into their own group, maybe replace them with champions or paladins? After recruiting the Italian camp I had more units than will fit on one control group, it was a little too easy.

Historic route can be very hard if you don't know to take the water route and pick up the extra archers and Hentry's pikemen on the other side of the rocks. They should just join with the trigger that removes the rocks and recruits the boats, it's not immediately apparent you are meant to go over to them.

Most of the campaigns and scenarios on the workshop are silly hard/easy, or outright broken, this one really stands out.

@ShieldRider:
This bug appears from time to time since the last patch. It's the developers' fault and has nothing to do with Alkhalim's scenario.
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 11 Jan, 2017 @ 12:32am
@ShieldRider I have never heard of this happening before. I will see if I can replicate this bug though and forward it to the devs when posible. :)
ShieldRider 10 Jan, 2017 @ 7:50pm
After trying this the first time, all my random map (single player, haven't tried multi-player) games use the player names from this scenario. Every one, no matter the civ, no matter the map, even with this and all other mods disabled. Red is always Henry II, green is always Waterford, yellow is always Irish Rebels, etc. This doesn't hinder gameplay, but it is an annoyance. Would you please look into whether the problem is on your end, or if I need to talk to AoE support?
Belendor 24 Mar, 2016 @ 11:33am
It was fun playing, thanks for the effort. There are problems for me in-and-out, but it was enjoyable.
Godefroi of Suppa 29 Jun, 2015 @ 6:04pm
yes i got the name of Richard de Clare!! :D
but there is something... i was confused after i killed Henry and then i found no way to William I... oh and then you can consider to fix some triggers (calibrating maybe) because when i confused, i randomly clicked the villagers in the first city, and then Januarius, then he became a soldier. That's annoying because i have to move that unit alone far away to my main army... i suggest you make condition that Richard de Clare must within the blacksmith or the city then another condition to click Januarius... also you should deactivate the first bandits' "ambush!!" trigger after Richard's army arrived to Henry by ship because when you wandering the forest after killing Henry you can attack the bandits from behind and will recieve the message "ambush soldiers!!" after you kill all of the condottieros lol
OVERALL IT'S FANTASTIC AND I SHOULD RATE IT LIKE 4,7/5
[Valhalla] Alkhalim  [author] 22 Jun, 2015 @ 3:33pm
@FeralGryphon That is not restricted on heroes as far as I know but generally happens to renamed units buildings and other objects. Most likely it is realted to patch4.0 and hopefully fixed soon.
Ajbolt 22 Jun, 2015 @ 3:27pm
Anyone else getting the bug where Richard De Clare is named HKUSH?
I've had similar trouble with that recently, like a few heroes named HJOSS and the like.
PhilipÓ'hAodha 18 May, 2015 @ 3:13pm
Just played a little of it there and am just in love with it. As a Irish man from Cork am just in love.
PhilipÓ'hAodha 18 May, 2015 @ 2:23pm
Love it.
FBI Special Agent Agent Agentson 15 Nov, 2014 @ 10:59am
Overall I loved it all. Sure it was a bit too easy even for my tastes (and I'm not particularly great at AoE2 despite having played it what feels like all my life), but it was sweet from beginning to end. I specially liked being able to crash your transport ship and losing less than 3 minutes into the game, and how it seems the rocks draw you in, lots of fun!

Definitely looking forward to more scenarios like this!
FBI Special Agent Agent Agentson 15 Nov, 2014 @ 10:58am
Speaking of tech, the only imp tech I got was Capped Rams. Are there any more?

Some changes you could also consider are giving Dublin one or two more military buildings (and lowering the pop cap if you lower the player's) as well as upgrade their walls/towers would be pretty nice (Also I don't think they have Murder Holes? That's a bit silly).

I completely forgot about Aoife and just left her at my TC. I actually wonder how much things would be different if I had used her, can you go a bit into detail on how that mechanic works?

To be honest, the no-base path was also fairly easy (or I'm just pretty good at these types of scenarios), but you can excuse a scenario like that being easier, as a lot of people aren't very big fans or particularily great at microing / saving each and every unit.
