Thank you! Is there any chance you would be willing to make a mod that reduces the action cost of some abilities or grenades? I always hated that it was yeet and do nothing with such a long cooldown time.

@Orionox I WISH that were possible. I thought about trying to make a mod for that as well. I've tried a few different ways, but have never been able to get it working. If anyone ever figures out a way, that would be AWESOME.

alright, so maybe this isn't possible, but it would be nice if movement wasn't all or nothing. Like if I could move two space and have it count down 2 spaces then decided to move the last space it would be phenomenal. it would help when using mods like "roads" so you can keep yyour units on the roads and it would help with positioning units in rage since the range of and LoS in this game isn't super obvious or easy to track.

@Cop Unit 12 Here you go! Action=Move for Eldar Units . Had some time tonight so managed to get it done. Also made a spin off mod that gives +2 movement from using actions to ALL units found here: Action=Move for All Units . Hope you enjoy it!

No I like it in your mod, I'm trying to convey that the refund be in this mod and a separate mod that only apply's it to the eldar as it is now. No changes to the current mod but just a (i guess) mini mod that only does the 2 movement refunded - battle focus changes alone while leaving this mod were chatting in alone.
How to say it.
ctrl+C (copy) 2 movement refunded - battle focus changes then Ctrl+p (paste) 2 movement refunded - battle focus changes alone. Don't ctrl+X (cut).

@Cop Unit 12 I don't want to upset the other people using this mod by removing the 2 movement refunded for certain Eldar units (since it was another steam user that requested I put it into the mod in the first place), so that being said we've got 2 options:

1) If you like the 2 movement refunded, I can make you a separate mod that gives all units from all factions/races the 2 movement refunded.

or 2) If you don't like the 2 movement refunded, just delete the one file I linked below and they won't get it anymore.

Well I mean if you want to get into it, stealth units ingame are a bit "lacking". Maybe the scout - stealth - and any unit with Battle Focus trait (mostly eldar) get it.

But I was just referring to having the 2 movement refunded be its own thing that only affects the Eldar units that get it in your mod. So just the refund feature for the eldar as it's own independent mod.

@Cop Unit 12 Feel free to remove the 2 movement refunded for Eldar units if you want to play like that. Only takes a second, you just need to delete 1 file from this mod:

Open up the Gladius steam mods folder and navigate to 2670521698\Data\World\Traits\Eldar and delete the BattleFocus.xml file. Done!

The Eldar will no longer get 2 movement back from actions. If I update this mod in the future you might need to delete this file again, just FYI. Alternatively, you could copy this mod folder, rename it, and then make the change. That will make sure this change is permanent for you. You'll probably have to unsubscribe from this mod to make sure it doesn't overlap. Have fun!

@Icechuck Yeah that's why I'm limiting it to the 2 movement refunded. I think it would be a reasonable way to balance out everyone else being able to attack then move. I'm going to put the changes in. If you find it's too much with the 2 movement refunded let me know, and I'll drop it down to 1, or we can try something else.

Another important note is that the movement refund can actually put units above their max movement limit. So a Guardian can hold their ground, get attacked, attack back, and then move 6 tiles away (instead of the default 4 movement max).

Unfortunately the amount of movement refunded this way can't be based on the attacking unit's movement max, so a fixed amount must be used (hence the 2 movement refunded). Too much? Too little? I think it would be a pretty cool buff for the Eldar (that have the Battle Focus trait).

@Icechuck Tried out some of your suggestions, and had a crazy idea myself that actually worked. How about this for an ability for the Eldar: Attacking gives back 2 movement, so you can run in, attack, and then run 2 tiles away? What do you think?

Either upping their range to bring them on part with the others (which frankly just takes away all their unique aspects) or adding some kind of penalty to other factions that shoot and scoot. Perhaps their movement could get reduced while the Eldar with Battle Focus do not. That way, a Marine can fall back after shooting, but he can't run all the way to safety the way an Eldar unit can.

@Icechuck Yeah that is a bit of a problem for the Eldar (as previously discussed) as it is a large part of how they function and engage in battle. Any suggestions on a potential buff for the Eldar in this mod?

Tried playing Eldar with this mod, found it to not be too good. I'd recommend giving the Eldar something to compensate, because now their ability to dictate engagements and get one last volley in with damage weapons is imitated by factions that already possess more battlefield endurance, like the Marines and Guard.

@Lord Admiral Revol Thanks for the confirmation! I figured it worked with the AI, as the AI can handle the Eldar (which have a large amount of units with this ability already) without any trouble. It's still good to have some reassurance :steamthumbsup:.

In case anyone wonders, the AI, even neutrals, is fully capable of using this, and does use it actively and about as well as you can expect (like shuffling back damaged troops, but shooting one last before retreating).

Really enjoying this mod, thank you! I tried Eldar and had a tougher time early game but I'm no expert. I tested upping the range of the guardian & scout shurikens from 1 to 2 and it's working out better for me so far.

@Baka Racker Yeah I was worried too about this taking away a bit of the uniqueness of the Eldar, but decided to make this anyways. Personally I don't think this nerfs the Eldar too much, although my testing has been limited as of late. As usual: absolutely no pressure to use this if you or anyone else feels this goes too far.

The main reason behind this mod was that it always kind of bugged me that you can move then shoot, but not shoot then move. I am absolutely aware of the mechanical purpose behind this design decision, but still made this for those that wanted to use it.
