If you are to close it can create a black texture on them regardless if the door is open or not.
This can be tested best in Dark Carnival motel.
This is something from the engine I assume since all water mods has this bug.
This is why some things "reflect" and others don't on vanilla L4D2, and why there is a crapton of black textured skybox meshes in the games files.
Since this mod reflects entities in real time via its VMT's, the specialized entity brushes (area portals) are reflected and this pretty much cannot be avoided.
This is because Valve likely intended such reflective water to only be used on a coast or open setting where there wouldn't be any special brushes or tools other than the water itself.
