I managed to get Magmalink and then had to reinstall the game while also deleting my old save file, but now the game won't even run.

I mean, you could get Magmalink. It's an addon that's also on the workshop. There's even a link to it on the "required items" section over on the right of this page.

I always hate it when this happens. I tried installing your core mod to get The Last Dragon, but it said an error has occurred, and now I can't play the game at all. I'm now guessing it's because I don't have Magmalink, whatever that is. How do I fix this error and get back to my game?

I managed to get it to work. I had to launch it not through steam but the exe itself. Then save and launch through steam. I have plenty of memory. I got 64gb ram and 16gb vram on my gpu. I am guessing its an engine limitation or something.

Yeah, that minigame can cause some problems for your memory. I'd recommend simply looking at the guide to solve it as quickly as possible before the game crashes.

Not this mod related but now I have ran out of memory and my game save instant crashing now. (doing naomi underwater exploration)

Well, glad you finally got it working, even if the fix was a bit messy.

Ok I got it working. Just converted all the steam mods to non steam mods by making sure they download. Copying the file to a folder and renaming it the mod title then uninstalling the mod from steam. Did it for each mod and now have 36 mods installed. (apparently a few steam mods glitched and were not installed when they should have been). Also got 2 mods found out that caused problems. (brown raptor mod one). I have no idea where all the mods off steam are. I cant find any.

Yeah, that does sound like the typical problem of Steam not booting the game up if you have mods installed. Unfortunately, there just isn't a fix currently out for it, so there's not much I can do. For now, removing unnecessary mods might help, but it isn't certain.

It is a very strange problem. Works perfectly fine on my steam deck but pc it only works after unsubbing then resubbing to a mod then it works fine for that boot of steam. Game says playing but nothing pops up. I have started going through my mods yesterday. I am still going through them today. I had like 30 mods installed.

@Dragon Protector Did the game spit any errors out at you when you started the game? From what I know, sometimes the game simply doesn't load when launched from Steam if you have mods installed, so perhaps it has something to do with that.
If this is the case, then I would recommend you to boot the game up directly from your game files for the time being.

Indeed, that is a most solid idea you have there! I'll definitely have to make note of a few things should I ever want to get around to it. As I've mentioned in reply to your comment in my profile, it will be quite a long time before I get around to it. Still, I do appreciate the effort you've gone through to come up with this idea! Definitely something to look into one day in the far, far future!

Sorry for these 10 long comments, as I said, here on Steam I can't write a comment longer than a thousand letters. Here is the complete plot (story) for possible Maverick's mod.

I've been thinking about what Maverick's whole mod might look like.

I know Maverick distrusts humans from the beginning - and that distrust is reinforced when Reza shoots him in the chest at the portal.

So how would it be possible to befriend this dragon? (recapitulation)

Step One: Help Bryce identify the perpetrator during the first investigation.

Step Two: After the first investigation date Sebastian, and the next day Bryce. (Good relations with Maverick's colleagues is certainly not a bad idea).

Step Three: Help Bryce again during the second investigation.

Step Four: Date Bryce again.

Step Five: Follow Vara during the third investigation. (I think that even though Maverick doesn't like children, saving the baby dragon could at least change his attitude towards you a little). To be continued ...

Step Six: Go to BBQ hosted by Bryce. Be polite to Maverick, who is also a guest.

Step Seven: During the fourth investigation, tell Maverick that you gave Anna your blood - he will start to believe you a little. Bryce must not die.

Step Eight: Now that Maverick has some faith in you, it would be possible to invite him home. Sebastian said he plays cards with Bryce and Maverick during his free time. (Playing cards might improve Maverick's mood - especially if you let him win).

Subsequently, after Reza is killed, Maverick tells you that the perpetrator's blood was neither yours nor Reza's, but it was still human blood. Anyway, Big Fireworks would count as the second date with Maverick.

The third date with Maverick, which would take place just after the comet's trajectory was altered to miss Earth, would look something like this:

It would be a partial combination of the third date with Remy and the third date with Sebastian.

For the first time, Maverick would be bold and honest enough to cry on your shoulder (metaphorically speaking). He would start telling you about his older brother, who he loved very much, and who he had to kill to save Bryce. He would definitely ask you if you would do the same thing in his place (kill your own brother for the good and safety of others).

You would definitely have two answer options (one neutral and one good).

Neutral Answer: No, you would never be able to kill a member of your family, even though he or she posed a mortal threat to other citizens.
(Maverick would tell you that sometimes you have to do what you would never do). To be continued ...

Good Answer: Yes, for all the love I would feel for my brother, I would be forced to kill him if he threatened other citizens.
(Maverick will silently agree - nodding his head).

Maverick will try to hide his emotions, but will end up crying a little. (You will again have two options).

Neutral option: Do nothing.
Good option: Hug him. (Maverick will be surprised and a bit embarrassed by this, but it will eventually lead to the Best Ending - first key to the Best Ending).

The scene itself would take place in a forest - the same forest as in Sebastian's mod. After the heartwarming conversation, it would start to rain. Maverick would find shelter in a small cave at the last minute.

In the cave you will again have two options:

1. Explore the cave that will lead you both to an elevator that will take you to an underground factory from that you will then have to get out of alive - the second key to the Best Ending.
2. Wait until it stops raining. To be continued ...

The underground factory adventure can be identical to Sebastian's mod. (When you turn on the electricity, the system inside the underground building will consider you an intruder - you will need to find an emergency password to disable the security system). You will then be able to escape with Maverick without dying. To be continued ...

The final date with Maverick might look like this:

The plot would be very similar to the fourth date in Naomi's mod.

It would all start on the street where you are waiting for Maverick. Just before his arrival, Bryce would appear and start talking to you in a friendly way. He would ask you how you like your new life in the dragon world. He would then ask if you would do another beer drinking contest with him. You politely decline, saying you're waiting for Maverick right now. Bryce is embarrassed, but before he can say anything, Maverick lands right next to you.

After you and Maverick greet each other, Bryce will ask a friendly question, "Is it what I think it is?" Maverick starts growling and rudely replies that it's none of his business.

Bryce gets a little embarrassed and says it's the best time for him to go home. As Bryce walks home he laughs quietly at the thought of you and Maverick having a date. To be continued ...

The following plot will look almost the same as in Naomi's mod.
Both of you will be in a large pool where you will relax. At first you will flirt with each other.

After a little while, you start to remember your world, you start to regret that you left humanity for good. This causes a bit of an argument as Maverick starts to convince you that it's not worth bothering about your corrupt world of murderers and criminals.

You try to defend your world by saying that before the Great Solar Storm your world was beautiful. Maverick says that he has no doubt that your world was beautiful, but at the same time adds that it's not worth worrying about something you can't change.

Right after that, he wipes a tear from your face with his wing. You will have two options: To be continued ...

1. Say thank you.
2. Embrace him - the third key to the Best Ending.
If you hug him, this time he won't be embarrassed and will give you a kiss on your forehead. In both cases, after a while you both leave the pool and go to a small table to have some wine.

After another moment of flirting, it's time for romance. There are no beds around the pool. Just a chair and the small table.

Maverick lays down on his back and there is a moment very similar to the one that happened at the end of the fourth date with Bryce.

You have two last options:

1. Accept - the last key to the Best Ending (romance)
2. Reject - you remain only friends. You lay down next to Maverick and he covers you with his wing. His wing will serve as a blanket (Good Ending).

I finished the good ending and I really enjoyed the mod. I love when mods like this present us with a what if on the situation such as Not-so Tragic Hero, TDOMI, etc. Hopefully we might get more for other characters. ((Maybe one where you date Zhong))

Yeah, it kinda does that due the game not really like duplicate files. Regardless, have fun!

Yes it works on Steam! Funny thing is, the game wouldn't launch at first and it would open a .txt file yelling at me for having the mod installed twice and I realized I had to delete the github folder and install the steam one

Oh, and if you want to, the issue on Steam should be fixed now if you still want to download the mod through the workshop.

Okay! good news, I got it to work through Git hub. ((the game did warn me about adding it not through steam but it works!

@Kolsavdur I will try Github. I didn't have enough chance to look into the github option. I will try that and hopefully it will work out.

@janimefan I'm not too sure as to what might have caused it, though I suspect it might have something to do with Steam or an update not being signed. While I'm waiting for a response from other modders, I recommend you using the GitHub link to install the mod (that is, assuming that it won't cause the same problem).

I been meaning to try this mod out but I seem to be running into an issue. The game keeps telling me it won't install the mod as "The mod has not been checked as safe for use yet or is unsafe." any reccommendations on what my cause it?

I would be quite pleased with the version of The Last Dragon, in which I would take care of Anna (an adventure in which I would try to quickly make money for a cancer cure), Adine (an adventure in which I would help her become a flying celebrity), or Bryce (an adventure in which I would help him gradually get rid of his alcohol dependence). Just an idea again. When I'm not busy, I'll try to make Remy Happy!

Precisely. That's why I started modding: to make a story that I wanted to happen and have players experience what I made!

Maverick distrusting/hating the player could be debated from a certain angle, like Mav not liking the player due to Bryce "throwing Maverick aside" like he mentions during his confrontation with the player in... chapter 2 I think? Though, distrust could also be used to explain that...

A Remy good ending extension, huh? An interesting thought, even though TDOMI already provides such a need (with beautiful execution, at that!). Making that spoiler character survive, however, might be tricky due to my writing style though, so we'll see if that thought goes anywhere. And if ECK is willing to give some tips, then why not! I'm always looking out to improve my writing in some form or another!

best part about modding, at the end of the day, if it fits the story, you decide how the characters act. all that really matters is: do people enjoy the ride?

also, i wouldnt say that maverick "hates" the player, more like he just really distrusts you, probably thinks you're a spy, aka reza plays the villain and you acting the buddy buddy deception could be his assumption

personally i wouldn't mind seeing a post-game continuation of remy's good ending (except with "spoiler character" surviving), similar to ones like not so tragic hero/savior/freefall, i actually know chaosknight a bit from talking to him, he might be busy nowadays (real world stuff), but he might be able to give some tips, who knows. just an idea

I have talked with another modder earlier today and it seems there is a Maverick mod in development. In its current state, it would only add a way to make Maverick not hate the player, with somebody else having to finish the mod once it has completed its initial development.

Just a little something to make things more exciting!

@esine42761 Yeah, makes sense. I do not know Maverick's personality as well as the other characters of the game, so I'm just making some potential assumptions here. But now that you've said it, Mav might still be impulsive enough to rush in when it comes to Reza.

And the double game with Reza... That might make things a bit more complicated. Ah, so many potential directions one could go when writing for a character...

It reminds me a lot of Naomi's Good Ending. Naomi (Mav) will try to get reinforcements, and in the meantime I would delay Reza with my long dialogues inside the underground building. After Reza loses patience with me, he forces me to take the generator and take it to the portal under his supervision. Outside, Mav with Naomi or other flying dragon could attack him from the air.

hmm, if i can put in my 2 cents, i think that even if mav did trust you he would still try rushing in, considering his personality seems a bit impulsive, especially when it comes to reza, so i think it would be the MC who would be suggesting a plan. also, he really doesn't need to be persuaded to trust humanity, just mainly the MC, it is hinted that humanity might be playing the double game with reza after all, which honestly, seems pretty likely.

You do make a valid point. My guess is that this could possibly be achieved by getting a middleman like Bryce or Seb to try and boost Maverick's faith in humanity. Trying to make a full on route will be tricky for obvious reasons, though a once-off date where you play some cards with Maverick to boost his confidence in humanity could be theoretically possible, especially if you were to make him willing to trust you, like you said. It would kinda annoy me, as I have a tendency to go all-out on characters once I get invested into writing them, but it's doable.

There's just a minor problem (for me, at least); you'd have to rewrite almost all of the endings. If we take Maverick and make him trust humans more, then I don't think he'll just want to go in head-first during the Reza confrontation. He'd be the type of guy to plan something out first now that he has a reason to be more careful.

But yeah, you do have some great points and an interesting idea, so thanks for that!

Thank you for answer. When I think about it, Maverick as a character would really have to be more open to humans in general, and less suspicious. The only alternative could be to date Bryce. I know that during the third date with Bryce, when there is a barbecue hosted by Seb, Bryce, Zhong and Mav, Mav is no longer hostile, just neutral. And during the fourth investigation, if the protagonist tells Maverick that he gave Anna his blood, Maverick is already willing to trust a little.

It might be possible to have one date with him (after the fourth investigation). Sebastian said he played cards with Bryce or Maverick during his free time. Maybe playing cards could boost Maverick's confidence in the protagonist. It might just be necessary to let him win in a few games to have a good mood and a sense of victory.

During the Big Fireworks, I'd give Maverick the blue map of the underground building. The ending could be a lot like Adine's Good Ending. It's just an idea, nothing more.

@cerveny.jiri A mod where you could date Maverick would require a lot of work, as you'd not just have to rewrite his entire character (as 'ol Mav is just a tiny bit grumpy to the player ), but you'd also have to change several elements and scenes of the base game to adapt to Maverick's changed character.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, no, I'm not planning to make a Maverick extension mod, especially as I'm currently very busy irl.
However, maybe I'll include Maverick as a character in a future mod should I have the time, creativity and desire to make another mod!
