yeah, never liked how guys will get hit with a toothpick for 0 damage and be staggered as if they just got mauled by a bear

Having the same problem as Tamm and T.YN. I think the patch guide for MCA isn't up to date anymore.
T.Y.N 18 Jan @ 2:56am
I'm having the same problem as Tamm. The Change List for MCA, as well as some other animation mods I have, only show Combat Techniques instead of Animations. These files/items also don't match the data format in the guide, and lack a "stumble" section.

Thats very strange i cand find any "animation" MCA rows as Arthesia's guide shows

For anyone who follows the guide below make sure you save your changes to the animation mod. You can also package your changes into a new mod with a dependency on the base animation mod but there are a few extra steps involved.
Arthesia  [author] 29 May, 2024 @ 7:35pm
For anyone who wants to disable stagger animations for another mod, the modding tool makes this really straightforward.

https://imgur.com/a/RBKcS3l

- Open FCS from the Kenshi launch menu. You can see all the mods you have installed in a list.
- Locate the mod you want to change, such as More Combat Animations. Open this mod.
- On the top menu there is a button that says [Changes], if you click this it creates a popup with everything the mod adds. All the new animations will be in a list. Locate the stagger animations you want to disable.
- If you're not sure if its a light stagger, scroll to the section labeled in bold "stumble". If "chance" is above 0 then its a stagger animation. If it says "big stumble" TRUE then its a heavy and you can leave it. If it it says "big stumble" FALSE then its a light stagger.
- Once you've identified a stagger animation you want to disable, you can scroll up to the bold "general" section and set "disabled" to TRUE.

musthave mod
Javes 8 Mar, 2024 @ 4:27pm
Would you be willing to make a patch for the "great animations mod", it seems to introduce a bunch of light staggers that are a great annoyance when fighting outnumbered.
Thundercraft 19 Jan, 2024 @ 6:37pm
Would this need a patch for those of us using another animation mod like "MCA"?
Inanis 12 Jan, 2024 @ 8:13pm
you know a xbow hit will knock you back even if it doesnt do damage... those things travel FAST

the fact that it doesnt damage YOU means it is damaging your armor that has to dissipate those impacts.

to get it balanced you should add armor destruction after like 50 xbow hits lol
Pwnicus 18 Nov, 2023 @ 5:16pm
This is really fun. My only thought was since getting hit while staggering levels dodge for weapon users, this effectively removes the passive dodge gains. Either way, dodge for weapon users only activates on incoming attacks when you're already staggering, and is thus barely used at high toughness.
decoin 2 Jul, 2023 @ 9:12pm
can you make patch for MCA?
Iruma 10 May, 2023 @ 8:21am
never mind i found out but it still look fire
Iruma 10 May, 2023 @ 8:16am
wow your kenshi look amazing what mods do you use
hoteldoor538 3 Nov, 2022 @ 3:35am
i think i have all of them, do you know which animation mod cause the extra stagger?
Arthesia  [author] 2 Nov, 2022 @ 4:39pm
@hoteldoor538 - Do you have any animation mods? Some add new stagger animations. Mod order shouldn't matter.
hoteldoor538 2 Nov, 2022 @ 6:26am
i still get staggered by some low leveled dudes with crossbows, i've already imported it do i have to put it somewhere specific in the modlist?
Arthesia  [author] 29 Jun, 2022 @ 10:34am
@Duskmare: This mod doesn't change any calculations, it only disables the "light stagger" animations which trigger on every hit received. The "heavy stagger" animations are when you take damage over a threshold based on toughness and are visibly stunned for a few seconds.

The screenshot used shows the end result. One character takes 139 damage and is heavily staggered, while the other is able to ignore chip damage (in this case 0 damage hits from a crossbow).
Duskmare 31 Jan, 2022 @ 5:51pm
How exactly does this work?
What's the damage cut off at which stagger isn't applied?
What does "light stagger animation" mean as opposed to any and all stagger animations? Do heavy weapons still stagger or something, even if they do very little damage?

Seems like a mod I'd want but I'm pretty picky when it comes to how I like my game balanced. So knowing the exact stats would be nice. :)
YuukoRespecter 27 Jan, 2022 @ 9:26am
Will this work with AGO's combat animation mod or does that require a manual fix? Apologies if this has been asked before.
Arthesia  [author] 11 Jan, 2022 @ 7:27am
@KorOxO: It's a reshade mod based on Kenshi 2 concept art.

https://www.nexusmods.com/kenshi/mods/534

The default settings make text illegible though.
I followed a guide somewhere on reddit to tone it down so you can still read the UI.
KorOxO 11 Jan, 2022 @ 4:21am
what is the graphic mod in the picture

@Arthesia: Thanks!
Arthesia  [author] 7 Jan, 2022 @ 4:47am
@Highbrow: this should work for custom races as well.
Wanderer 6 Jan, 2022 @ 6:38pm
does this work with custom races?
Tony Stank 4 Jan, 2022 @ 3:34pm
Had "more combat animations" gonna try without it
Arthesia  [author] 4 Jan, 2022 @ 1:08pm
@What: do you have any other animation mods active?
Also double check that this mod is enabled in the launcher.
Tony Stank 4 Jan, 2022 @ 12:43pm
getting staggered from 2 damage with 20 toughness from a katana
Arthesia  [author] 4 Jan, 2022 @ 6:16am
@Ids_101: Both mods prevent light stagger, but that one does it by changing the light stagger animations into heavy ones. So presumably that mod also nerfs heavy stagger since you'll sometimes see a light stagger animation instead of the heavy one.

Thanks for the discussion but let's keep it civil.

Ight, whatever my g, I wasn't trying to trigger/upset no one. My bad.
|PHD| MrCrab 3 Jan, 2022 @ 6:09pm
people do realise it removes stagger from being hit by things weaker than you for example if a toddler punched you wouldn't flinch as it doesn't hurt nor enough force to stagger you, if a grown man punches a boxer the boxer won't stagger cause he's physically superior and can resist the attack
Iris 3 Jan, 2022 @ 5:52pm
I've never seen such a pretentious and idiotic take in all my life. You clearly havent been a fight yourself. Never should one be staggered for a 0 damage attack. Thats a miss attack, always will be a miss attack, and anything lower than 10 damage makes sense to not stagger as well, its not like you're gonna lose all sense of ability to fight just because you got hit in the arm for 8 and leave yourself open for more attacks, in the world of Kenshi.. where fighting and such is a popular activity and being tough is a focus. Also on that, why is toughness able to lower damage take, but not stop staggering? Severe overshadows all around on the combat section from the developers there, sadly enough. I dunno what bullshit you were on about after all that. Could've just shut up after the second bad take. Honestly you should stop letting things get to your head so much, it makes you look more like a dumbass than you usually are because three comments back to back that all equally suck?
o0Zeke0o 3 Jan, 2022 @ 5:39pm
You're trying to find logic in a game where you can literally amputate someome by punching him too hard in the arm
Adeptus Freemanicus 3 Jan, 2022 @ 2:32pm
And let me comment on projectiles, if you don't know, the cause why a bullet, or bolt, in this case, can kill or harm someone is the fact it's traveling at a high speed, and that's how people die from being hit with a car, that's how a rock can crush someone, etc.

Your common rifle bullet will have a force of ~2000 foot-pounds of energy, it sounds like a lot but won't at all push you back, the only reason you will get pushed back is that you will get scared and it's caused by nature's biggest instinct, self-preservation, it's hard-wired into humans and everyone will react not just to being shot but jump scared, hurt and many other things, even armor won't stop that reaction.
Adeptus Freemanicus 3 Jan, 2022 @ 2:09pm
So, all the people that say "It makes no sense" please look into it and delete those comments and replace it with "Not balanced" or something else instead.
Adeptus Freemanicus 3 Jan, 2022 @ 2:07pm
I would get this mod but I can see why it is possible for you to stagger like that. The reason I'm leaving this comment is to make sure people don't bully the devs because they think this is "unrealistic".

For many reasons, this can happen in real life. Humans no matter how tough have weak points, fears, and many other reasons.

Example 1, Being afraid of being hit in the balls, that's both a weak point and a fear of most men.

Example 2, getting hit in the liver, it will hurt like hell and you won't only struggle to fight back, but it can make you fall.

Example 3, no one, no matter how tough have strong eyes, a strong throat, etc, hit those areas and they will get hurt even if it's not enough to harm it's still enough to make them back up or stop what they are doing.

it's not a dumb feature and it's, in fact, realistic, I can understand why you'd think that it's not because I doubt most people have ever been in a fight let alone study about the human body which is fine.
Raymond 2 Jan, 2022 @ 6:26pm
this shouldn't be a mod. It makes zero sense for your 80 toughness dudes to wimp from mere sticks.
Itsapaul 2 Jan, 2022 @ 6:37am
I've heard this helps with big hostiles staggering through base walls and such, so I'm gonna try it and see if stuff still magically appears in my bases.
Arthesia  [author] 1 Jan, 2022 @ 10:18pm
@Deathmonkey, projectile weapon don't really stagger from force. Guns can bruise through armor but crossbows/arrows just deflect, so it doesn't make sense to me that they can stop you from moving.

Melee is kind of a different story. If you're at default attack slots you don't really need this for melee. At 3-5x I find attack interruptions too annoying but that's personal preference.
Deathmonkey361 1 Jan, 2022 @ 6:17pm
I mean the stagger is from the force not the dmg, same as if you got shot while wearing body armor.

@UniZed: It's the Ronin Samurai Armor + Gusoku Helmet from Universal Wasteland Expansion. The faction color is custom and based off of another meitou recolor mod.
