Report a translation problem
My current play through is balance with this mod. Though there are some bugs but a quick save and reload will fix it.

As for the bodyguard changes, I couldn't decipher exactly how mods work in FCS so I just resorted to deleting the whole thing, hoping it would help you find the exact cause.
Unfortunately, it looks like nothing changed. Only one person follows and the others remain sat. :(
I've ran into many issues because I was adding/remove mods mid-save.
And regarding your fix, I will keep that in mind, but I doubt that all the bodyguard changes need to be removed, I'll come back to you soon once I look into it.
By deleting all the 'Bodyguard' entries in FCS, this issue was immediately fixed. I don't know what might break by deleting this part of the mod, but I prefer it that way until a proper fix :)
Could you please check what might be affecting this?
I played my mod with UWE and had no issues, but idk, we all have different hardware, software, and mod lists, so it's not out of the question.
It's either a mod you have or some sort of issue, try either disabling other mods, starting a new save, importing your save, and double checking you don't have block mode enabled.
The mods higher in your load order get overwritten by the mods below them. If you want you can get an auto-sorting tool (I use one and it works great) and it can do everything for you.

So I see it being a bit more realistic, consistent, and overall, an improvement.
I hope you can find other mods that you can enjoy.
I tested your mod with Gens, LivingWorld, Dialoge+, Recruitable Prisoners and some additional races for a little(about 5hrs walkingand talking), all working nice & w/o crashes or strange NPC movements. I hope these mods will run smoothly whole time
