The rail is there to make the pipe sections actually failable, a simple pipe means you can just put a brick on the accelerator. :)

This track has a very heavy whiff of F-Zero flavor about it in terms of design-- and that's a good thing. I never would've thought I'd see an honest-to-God pipe section in a Wipeout track, and here Enai goes and does it.

Brilliant run, love the scenery; I suspect that rail running along one side of the pipe is so the game doesn't shit itself when someone fires, say, an energy wall?
