I know this mod is super old, but is there a way to add a Gambling and Prostituion tax?
MensIuguolo 5 Jul, 2018 @ 5:25am
" to the less ethical ways of earning revenue for your goverment." - BIas someone?
I was hoping to find a realist mod...

The prostitution tax should increase conservative, religious opinion of you (since it will encourage less prostitution) and slightly decrease liberal and capitalists opinion of you (due to it being a topic not many wishes to discuss).

Mod doesn't seem to be downloading.
Wet Dog Squad 30 Jul, 2017 @ 9:35pm
Smythley, you do know that the game simulates citizens with *multiple* demographics which are weighed against each other, right? Just because a policy is favored by youths doesn't mean all youths will love it, since it's weighed against their other political beliefs (Liberal, Capitalist, Religious, etc.)
Anomalous Alien 18 Apr, 2017 @ 9:53am
Yeah, because the youth are somehow hardwired to love prostitution, narcotics and, you know, all that fun stuff. To come to such a lazy conclusion is to also form the blanket assumption that all of human ethics is fundamentally tied to parachial religious beliefs??

To be fair, in this day and age I don't think the idea of legalized prostitution would have an absolute 0% popularity. It would piss off conservatives and the religious, but liberals and potentially socialists would love it. I say it's base popularity would probably be around like 30% more or less and it should have more specific effects than just a negative towards capitalists. Actually to be totally fair, there's plenty of people who would want to capitalize on this. The wealthy would be happy that they can get rich off of a brothel but will be unhappy with high taxes I guess.

Can you please leave a download link for the files because it is not downloading after I subscribe.

Am I the only one who noticed "Prostitution" is misspelled as "Prostituion" in the title?
BRINKS Truck 4 Oct, 2015 @ 4:04pm
@Dani That doesn't make sense. The conservatives aren't the ones who would be mad about the fact that the government is essentially making prostitution harder on the pocketbook.
2G BLUNTS 16 May, 2015 @ 1:57am
Prostitution tax dont make liberals angry, but the CONSERVATIVE, remember the family values guys
rain 1 Jan, 2015 @ 4:55pm
You should make prostitution tax make liberals mad if it's high.
Kindigo 29 Dec, 2014 @ 5:13am
Mod for taxation on gambling?
Daichi Hiroshi 9 Nov, 2014 @ 2:54pm
Thanks for the mod! I appretiate how I have now have more options to handle those two policies. Keep up the good work! :)

@MensIuguolo: marijuhana is not legal in the Netherlands, it is "gedoogd". Look up the word "gedogen" it doesnt have an english word and hard to explain
blitzthedragon 20 Aug, 2014 @ 12:40am
Hey, could you perhaps either nerf the negative impact on Conservative/Religious happiness or boost the positive impact on Liberal and Capitalist happiness for Legalize Prostitution? As it stands right now, the cons greatly outweigh the pros of enacting/maintaining the policy, as all it really accomplishes is two greatly annoyed demographics.
MensIuguolo 30 Jul, 2014 @ 1:34am
@Sapih - I would recomend you hit the books and internet and do some research. Search for SCIENTIFIC studies on real-life legalisation and it's effects.
Studies show that not only does drug use does not increase (because face it - people use drug wether it's legal or not), legalising liught drugs decreases violent crime, hurts orgenized crimes, makes for a marked improvment in substance quality AND since the police has one thing less on their mind, and criminal organizations have one less source of revenue, the police becomes better at preventing other forms of crimes.

Also please look up the US "Prohibition Period" - when it outlaws alcohol.

In fact - look at reality with critical eyes: Compare Holland (legalise marijuhana and prostitution) to Iran or Saudia Arabia (both are prohibited).
MensIuguolo 30 Jul, 2014 @ 1:29am
1. Every reveenue the government makes is unethical
2. Legalising light drugs and prostitution are not only ethical, they are a matter of personal liberties and of reducing crime and criminal participation (have been shown in several countries).
3. When you legalise - organised crime suffers greatly.
SHRIKE 27 Jul, 2014 @ 2:29am
@Tarloc - often the reason why crime and drugs go hand in hand so often is because drugs are illegal.. This does two things, it creates a stigma that it is a bad thing to do, leading to rebellious youth taking drugs.
- also if drugs are illegal the black market is the only way to obtain them - drugs on the black market are generally not as safe as state monitored drugs - i.e. Holland's drugs have far fewer dangerous addictive additives, than for instance cannabis bought off a London dealer.
The advantages of legalising are that you can make sure people are buying just the drug and nothing extra that would become a gateway for stronger drugs. And also the government can make money off the tax while the black market dealers lose their customers.
Guidrion 10 Jul, 2014 @ 4:38pm
I noticed the drug age regulation has two "age minum 18" settings.
ydoc5212 24 Jun, 2014 @ 3:57pm
@Saiph The author of this mod made it to add something to the game that wasn't there before. If you don't want it, that's fine, but you shouldn't call him a deluded drug dealer. That's, like, rule #1.
Butcher Pete 23 Jun, 2014 @ 3:55pm
@Saiph Having used the mod a couple of times now, I can say it is not really a "joke" so much as it actually opens up your options. The negative effect prostitution has on the religious faction is enormous, so it balances itself out.

@Æsel Klunker / Kjulo I probably would have made the taxation of prostitution actually decrease the amount of prostitution taking place though. As it stands, there is no reason why you shouldn't tax it 90% and get a massive amounts of taxes (nearly 100 billion as US).

I hope you continue to make these mods though, and maybe revamping smoking and alcohol would be a good next step. I know for a fact not "Everyone" hates the government for taxing smoking. Even as a smoker I don't really care that much.
Kjulo  [author] 22 Jun, 2014 @ 1:22am
@Saiph Actually i have never used any drugs myself in my entire life.
The game already makes Productivity and Health go down when legal drug consumption rises, so there actually is a indirect harm in doing it.
Also, the reason i made this mod was because i though this part of the game was lackluster, and nothing else.
Saiph 21 Jun, 2014 @ 10:14pm
Obviously this mod is designed to turn Democracy 3 into a joke, rather than keep it as a simulation. So there are no negative effects at all when narcotics and prostitution are legalised? Sounds like a proposition straight out of a deluded drug-abusers mind.
amourius 21 Jun, 2014 @ 7:50pm
This should be fun
UltimateUniverse 21 Jun, 2014 @ 4:37pm
makes for some interesting game mechanics
waitinggirl13 21 Jun, 2014 @ 2:00pm
@conga the UN most certainly does not, it supports the decriminlization of sex work. Also another annoying thing, legalizing prostitution increases organized crime, surely 10 seconds thought would have shown that the opposite would be the case?
chriswen 21 Jun, 2014 @ 8:49am
Intresting, everyone loves narcotics and prostitution
Tarloc 20 Jun, 2014 @ 1:43pm

Don't understand why putting age restrictions on narcotics up has a negative effect on Violent Crime? :P"

Are you serious?
Flowers 20 Jun, 2014 @ 11:06am
Then Denmark is a sexy country, eh? ;)
Kjulo  [author] 20 Jun, 2014 @ 9:38am
@Conga i hate to join political discussions, but Prostitution is legal in many countries, like where i live (Denmark)
Flowers 20 Jun, 2014 @ 8:30am
Because waitinggirl13 it's a bit immoral, don'tcha think? Sex Workers probably do pay taxes but could easily avoid it. I think the UN makes it illegal everywhere.
waitinggirl13 20 Jun, 2014 @ 12:02am
why does this mod assume that sex workers dont pay tax currrently or that it is illegal when that is only the case in the US?
ydoc5212 19 Jun, 2014 @ 3:48pm
I doubt it, but is this compatible with Legalized Drugs and Prostitution Tweaks?
greenapples 16 Jun, 2014 @ 4:38pm
The Prostituion tax doesn't do much negative; you can leagalize it to max and then tax it to 90% and only piss of the capitalists a little. Maybe increase poverty or liberal unhappiness and decreases prostituion which would make the conservatives and religous happier
SHRIKE 15 Jun, 2014 @ 9:47am
Don't understand why putting age restrictions on narcotics up has a negative effect on Violent Crime? :P
Guidrion 14 Jun, 2014 @ 3:15pm
Probably the best of your mods. I really enjoy it. If you feel like improving more the drug question in Democracy 3, I'd suggest to try implementing an illegal drug simulation with everything related. However it would be quite a task. Feel free to add me if you want to go down that road. I might be able to help, concept-wise.
The Happy Troll 13 Jun, 2014 @ 7:58pm
Very nice, thanks! Downloaded as all your other mods
