I blame Keen’s broken dependency system. I’ll edit the description later to make it more prominent. Enjoy!
神風 翼 22 Jun @ 1:28am
I installed Better Stone as described and it works fine...
Sorry for the inconvenience...

I made a mistake, but I think it would be better to write in capitals at the top of the description “If you install it, install it with Better Stone and place it on top”
神風 翼 21 Jun @ 3:38pm
...sorry, I need a moment
I reread it and there is something in the installation text that says “it will not work properly without Better Stone”...?
Did I miss it because I translated it and the line breaks and sentences were messed up ......?

Maybe I was just being stupid...
神風 翼 21 Jun @ 2:15am
Thanks for the quick response!
I did a lot of research to try and save you the trouble.

The images were taken by playing a new game and having the iron ore in front of me.
The one on the right is without the mod and the one on the left is mined with only this mod.
Other than that, I just modified the English setting of the in-game language and made it Japanese.
Kaito  [author] 20 Jun @ 1:02pm
Could you tell me all your mods and load order? Also if you could give me a GPS for where you see this I could check.
神風 翼 20 Jun @ 4:48am
This mod is very good!
It fits perfectly with what I have been hoping for, “It would be interesting if there was a need to dig deeper for ore mining, but I also want to limit the mining area like the Scarce Resources mod”.
However, I am experiencing the same phenomenon as the following person.
Iron has changed to Fe+, and when I mined, the name of the dropped rock and the item I got was S-10 magazine.

In case you are wondering, I am playing the game by adding fonts and converting English to Japanese.
Kaito  [author] 7 Jun @ 4:31pm
Huuuuh I wouldn't be surprised if SE somehow screwed that up. I'll see if I can set up some testing of my own soon. In the meantime, you could nuke your mod files and let Steam redownload them. It's notorious for screwing up workshop updates sometimes.
kimaen 7 Jun @ 9:18am
Maybe its localization-related problem? Like dude from sweden and me from ru-loc getting vanilla ammo instead of ores :P
Kaito  [author] 12 May @ 4:22pm
Asked a friend to verify ores drop actual ores with this mod. Seems to work fine.
Kaito  [author] 10 May @ 5:59am
Wtf 😳

I’ll have a look when I can, but it seems more likely you’ve got a corrupted mod download
kimaen 9 May @ 8:58pm
It seems like mod not working correctly atm, instead of getting ores it somehow spawns pistol ammo while drilling into nodes.
Kaito  [author] 5 May @ 4:31am
You don't need thruster components for atmo or hydro thrusters. Only for Ion thrusters.
A shitton of shitties 4 May @ 9:27pm
So how exactly do you get off Earth in the first place? Unless it's another mod I'm using, thruster components take platinum, which is not available on Earth. I don't get it...
Kaito  [author] 31 Jan @ 6:19am
Super glad you're enjoying it :D
Külmking 31 Jan @ 6:18am
I think it may just be my jam somewhat. Once again, thank you!
Kaito  [author] 31 Jan @ 6:15am
I know, that's on purpose. I usually play with nasty NPC mods, so an EarthLike start involves hiding underground until I can go get enough Mg to actually defend myself. If that's not your jam, Pertam has large 3 Mg deposits.
Külmking 31 Jan @ 5:41am
Hello again! I got this to work. Thank you for this mod, but it's quite challenging without larger source of Magnesium ores on Earthlike, other than the rare boulders. At least it'll pressure the need to go to space as soon as possible
Kaito  [author] 27 Jan @ 11:52am
Try Ore Detector Reforged. It will show you ores up to 30Km away, which will cover the entire planet.

The range of normal modded detectors is a bit misleading due to the horrible performance of the underlying voxel scanning code. At 700m on a planet, a scan cycle can take over a minute. And then another cycle fires off and takes over a minute again. That's why you sometimes see ore signals show up behind you. If you're moving fast, you might just fly over a deposit entirely without ever seeing a signal.

Reforged uses its own algorithm, and is basically instant. It's what I use to debug for myself.
Külmking 27 Jan @ 11:44am
How deep are the ores even suppose to be? Absolutely no ore shows up on my 700m ore detector other than the rare boulder here and there. It is high up in the load order, after the other mod that handles voxels. I just do not understand. Atleast they're not dropping as S-10 ammo anymore, so far
Kaito  [author] 27 Jan @ 9:30am
What the heck lmao that's wild

The mod is definitely working fine. I was playing with it on a private server just last week. Make sure it's above anything else in the mod order that modifies voxels, and maybe delete the mod folder and let it redownload.
Külmking 27 Jan @ 8:02am
Hello! Little problem. I started a new world with this mod and haven't found any ores besides all boulder ones; few iron and one Taenite one. I'm guessing it's not a big problem since the ores spawn very deep, beyond 700 meters that an ore detector with it's max 700m detection cannot pick up. The biggest problem is that mined Taenite ore on the ground is replaced with S-10 (a vanilla weapon) firearm ammo when observed and picked up. I don't know if other ores are replaced with something since i haven't found them. Could that be a problem on my end?
EDIT: Found several more types of ore from this mod in boulders. They're ALL dropping as S-10 ammo
Kaito  [author] 14 Jan @ 3:17pm
I'd have to look at what exactly that mod replaces with regards to the vanilla files. Planets are made up of a bunch of files. Easiest way to see whether they are compatible is to add both. Put this mod on top. Then check for seams.

To "merge" them I'd have to negotiate with the author of seams. The last few times I did that for other mods, I was politely told to go pound sand, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

That aside, I'm probably not going to do any significant updates to this mod. I'm working on an incompatible V2 that will move ore deposits around. In order to not break anyone's existing games, I'm going to leave this version alone.
ELLIOTTCABLE on Discord 14 Jan @ 2:45pm
I'm going to guess, that since both modify the vanilla planets' terrain, this is incompatible with Seams Fixed 2.0 - Better Stone Edition ? If so, perhaps you'd be kind enough to include that fix in this mod, or in a fork of this mod?

(That may be a lot to ask, apologies, I just don't see any other workaround than merging them. =)
Kaito  [author] 6 Jun, 2024 @ 12:00am
@MoonyLander It does, but it’s not terribly common there.

@Yakfly skill issue
MoonyLander_ 5 Jun, 2024 @ 9:50pm
Does Cobalt Spawn on Mars I started there and am wondering if cobalt does spawn. I have traveled many KM in search of the lucrative resource.
YAKFLY 4 Jun, 2024 @ 10:54am
I found it completely stupid : in order to move from one planet to another, you need to build a jump drive, so whats the point to jump to mars if you cant , and if anyway you have to find everything in asteroids ?
Come and See 20 Apr, 2024 @ 1:29am
Haha, this mods a treat. Ore deposits are 11-15 km apart and it's an adventure driving around the map on a rover. :D

I'd love a deep ores, scarce deposits, and smaller deposits mod to make it uber hardcore.
Kaito  [author] 12 Feb, 2024 @ 7:00am
Different refining processes having different yields is perfectly realistic.

I have no idea how I would make that optional short of maintaining two separate mods, which I won't do, sorry.

Personally, I find the ingots I get from refining bulk stone sufficient.
BlankFX 12 Feb, 2024 @ 1:55am
"Doing so with a refinery will yield only trace amounts of ingots" is a no-deal for me. I see the valid point behind this, but it's just immersion breaking that a Survival Kit would have a higher efficency than a refinery. Would love to see an option to make this optional.
Kaito  [author] 6 Feb, 2024 @ 12:37pm
@MysticDragon4 That's because Cyberhounds overrides the PlanetDef of EarthLike to mess with the cyberhound spawn radius (they spawn far away and might not engage the player with the default radius). Sadly, SE doesn't allow merging definitions, so only one planet definition will be active at a time.

Thanks for figuring out which mod was breaking!
MystikDragon4 14 Nov, 2023 @ 8:26pm
Don't worry about the links, obviously i didnt do it properly
MystikDragon4 14 Nov, 2023 @ 8:25pm
Just want to let everyone know that "bring back cyberhounds" mod mess with this mod by letting rare vanilla ore generate where they shouldn't (e.g. gold on earthlike)
This is only if the "cyberhounds" mod is above (below if DS) than this mod in the load order, this includes if it loaded in as a dependency

So if you subscribe to "populated worlds creatures Ai Enabled NPCs" for example, ensure you subscribe to "cyberhounds" as well to ensure it is in the proper load order

Don't know why that is, didn't think cyberhounds affected ore generation
Kaito  [author] 2 Oct, 2023 @ 4:08pm
Alright, I'll see what I can find. But I'm not sure when I'll be near a computer that can run SE. Might be a little while.
HEHE! PONIES! 2 Oct, 2023 @ 2:58pm
I changed the planet scale via Star System Generator(it's not enabled/installed now), so my GPS coords probably won't help without the save(which I could provide).
Kaito  [author] 2 Oct, 2023 @ 12:24pm
That.... sounds new. I'll have a look as soon as I'm near a computer. Don't suppose you have a GPS marker you could share?
HEHE! PONIES! 2 Oct, 2023 @ 9:54am
On my Earthlike planet,I'm seeing frequent half-dome spiderweb like structures of Mg with Pt underneath, is this expected? This mod is not causing them(they exist with no mods), but I'd expect these would not be present.
Kaito  [author] 28 Apr, 2023 @ 3:28am
Yep, I've been using that for a while, and doing internal testing on increasing ore depth to 1500-2000m.
Sam_R_I 28 Apr, 2023 @ 12:31am
REV4666 4 Apr, 2023 @ 9:57am
Ok thank you for the verification, I was wondering.
Kaito  [author] 4 Apr, 2023 @ 8:12am
@REF4666 I checked the ore generator config, and I did indeed put Akimotoite on Mars. So I suppose there is SOME Mg to be had there. I wouldn't put my eggs in that basket though.
Kaito  [author] 4 Apr, 2023 @ 8:10am
It depends on the specific ore. In general, most Fe/Ni will be found in shallow deposits; but there is also stuff like Pyrite, which has Fe/Au. Having Au, it will be found at ~300m deep.
coolfarmer 3 Apr, 2023 @ 10:48pm
In your description, it shows that ore deposits are not very deep, such as Fe and Ni, which are usually found around 50 meters deep. However, I started a new game with your mod and made sure to load all the dependencies correctly, I have noticed that I can find Fe and Ni at depths of around 300-400 meters. Is this normal? I though it was ~50m.
Kaito  [author] 30 Mar, 2023 @ 1:58am
I’ll have a look when I’m back home in a few weeks.
REV4666 29 Mar, 2023 @ 4:58pm
I'm unsure if the world is the original star system or if the planets are in a modified position
So here is the world I am playing (you will have all the mods at the same time)

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2948154431
And here is where I found some Magnesium. I did not look for more since I was searching for some extra cobalt to build my platinum mine base
GPS:Mars Aki. (Si,Mg):1089347.35566343:139350.300643138:1610522.25303979:#FFF1DA75:
Kaito  [author] 29 Mar, 2023 @ 1:28pm
Asteroids should only have icy iron and ice, to encourage planet side mining bases.

The Mg on Mars might be an outlier. It shouldn’t have any (surface rocks should have some) but it’s possible tiny deposits exist. Could you pass me the GPS to double check?
REV4666 28 Mar, 2023 @ 2:30pm
quick question did you modify what spawns on the asteroids?
if not do you intend to do it? (i was thinking maybe like scarce resources where only the basic + ice and silver)

Also, I'm on mars getting some platinum and I noticed I did not find any cobalt at all ( i only did a quick search for it in the patches surrounding where I am mining platinum) but I did find a patch of Akimotoite (Si, Mg)
In your summary, you say that Mars has cobalt but no Magnesium is that a mistake in the summary?
Kaito  [author] 22 Mar, 2023 @ 11:38am
Thanks! Glad you like it!
MystikDragon4 22 Mar, 2023 @ 11:32am
Didn’t even know this mod existed
No more choosing which of my favourite ore mod to use :D:steamthumbsup:
Kaito  [author] 14 Nov, 2022 @ 3:50am
I don’t think the voxel generator supports layered generation, but I could be wrong.
BBDoesTheThing 14 Nov, 2022 @ 12:50am
Hey this is a real cool mod. We're thinking of starting a campaign using it. Do you by chance know if its possible to add voided caves/spaces?
