Mod still works, with some minor issues in 4.0

- Cannot build gateways/relays in an ally's vassal's space
- The construction ship used to build the relay is transferred ownership after building

Not sure why but this interferes with the decreases in costs of gateways that the galactic doorstep origin gives to the vanilla gateways. Most likely because the original gateway files are included in the mod. As long as the mod is active you don't get the discount.

Going to try to make create a local version of the mod with the vanilla files removed for my own use for now since this plus my own deep space gateways mod are a really need for Gate Builders style play style.

Never Mind, made the deep space gateways it's own separate mod, though it compatible with this one so that can run side by side.

Would it be okay to upload a modified version of this if Link back to this and credits you? Been Trying to get it so it can be built in neutral or greater borders and outside borders. Use to be a mod that allow that, was great of sending construction ships ahead, building a gate then, colonizing the system. Lets people go a gate builders RP style. So if I got it working (probably have to do what you did and make a new type of external gateway) I'd like to upload it for people that want it for that purpose. If not, that okay I'll just use it as local mod only.

@CTH2004 The opposite. This mod basically lets you build gateways in non-.subjects. The Overlord DLC already lets you build gateways in your subject's space. For other non-subject empires you can use this mod.

@cutha - overlords can build in vassal space by default. just use the normal structures

I don't seem to be able to use this to build gateway's in my vassals space, it looks like that is intended, if I understand your previous comment, but why?

@SMmania123 - sort of. The DLC allows building in vassal space only. I'll be updating this mod to (still) allow building of gateways (and hyperways) in the territory of friendly empires: allies, federation members, etc. that you can't/don't want to vassalize.

@gorgonola - they still require the gateway building tech. additionally, they can only be built in the territory of another empire with "friendly" or higher relations ("loyal" also counts as friendly in this case).

Cheers man, I was looking to make one of these myself (mostly because it's weird that you can't build megastructures for your vassals), so I'll definitely be playing with this in the future.

Just a question, shouldn't it be possible to add it in a separate file with the upcoming changes in 3.3? Haven't looked into the beta that much, but from the patch notes I got the feeling it might be possible.

@ozu95supein - looking at the files from gigastructures (I don't play with them personally), it should . give it a try, let me know, and I'll try to fix it if not.

@Mike - No, it doesn't. The benefit is that you get to sidestep the AI's inability to build an efficient gate network

Cool. And there's another mod called Gateways Policy/Federation/Imperium let you build star gates in vassal of federation borders. Check it out if you like.

@wiirlak, that's more or less how it works. Inserting envoys to improve relations should get you to friendly pretty quickly unless you're some sort of galactic horror.

and if you're working with another player, it should be dead simple to achieve friendly relations - its the tier right above neutral.

I did it this way because its the easiest without completely breaking immersion. I didn't want to do any diplomatic actions or community resolutions or anything - and someone else already has a mod for that.

Does the relationship level is still required with another player ?

Maybe make it also work like some others diplo actions : having a certain level or having a envoys make it available.
