There's actually a challenge with this mod: SCS have started to adjust the cabin sound levels. For the early trucks they were quite the same. Some mod trucks and sound mods used different settings. But newer SCS trucks are "off" compared to the old ones.

Nobody has requested the new Volvo VNL, yet. SCS have implemented different cabin sound settings than in previous trucks. I'm curious: What do users of this mod think of the default settings?

Hi, great mod. For paid mods, most of them have locked files. But in this google document is def file name for most favourite paid mods. Maybe it is good start. I tried add Jon Rudas W900 Highway Killer and it works. I started a new profile after update, so i dont have comparison with other trucks. Check it out, maybe it'll help.

I'll look into and add free 389 mods, if they support overwriting these values.

Pay mod owners, please provide me the internal name of the specific truck as found in the mod files e.g. in def/vehicle/truck. We'll go from there.

@GT182 – I just bought new audio equipment, and tried a few devices, and I was again baffled by how differently mid-tier equipment performs and expresses the different frequency ranges.

@ivanpickle47 – That's of course possible. These settings are inspired by and roughly align with the ETS2 sound by Max2712. The exact settings are a matter of personal taste. Also everyone's audio equipment is slightly different. An endless number of variants is possible. What I'd like to encourage you to do is to look at mod files. It's actually a rather easy thing to adjust. That means you can relatively easy create a local edit.

what is you let the lower frequencies come through more than the high ones like irl?

I'm running a 800hp CAT 3408 from the CAT 3408 engine pack from ATS.mods. Found in Parts/Tuning section, on page 2. I do have engine and exhaust sounds turned down, and turbo turned up in Options/Audio. So maybe it's just me with my settings. I'll check more. I do know the turbo is louder and sounds nice in the 379x I switched to.

@GT182 – Not sure I can follow. 😅 Anyways: I'm glad you got it to where you love it! 😊 – First a note regarding the turbo: I'm playing with headphones, and that can affect how nuanced I hear it. Also the exact engine sound mod you use can make a difference. – Since my mod does not support the 379x: Did you make a local edit? otherwise what you hear should not be affected at all by my mod. If I don't include a definition, it wouldn't hook in. – Engine sound mods may mix the different sounds as they please. As I said: Although the turbo or exhaust volume relative to the engine should be roughly the same outside or inside, it is possible that (since my mod applies an EQ) different portions of the engine sound get suppressed more or less.

OK, I got it to work pretty good with the Mack Anthem. Turbo is slid all the way as high as it will go. But.... I installed and am now running the Pete 379X mod, and this mods works perfect with it. By what I've found it will work with SCS and mod trucks.

Travis they should work with it. You'll probably have to adjust sounds of the engine, exhaust, and turbo to get it where you want it. I had to do that.

@GT182 Oh, since the turbo is a relatively high ptched whistling sound, it gets affected more by these EQ settings. Especially the high frequencies are lowered significantly. I suggest you try to turn up the turbo volume slider. I have mine around 50%, as I do have the engine and exhaust.

@GT182 I do hear the turbo. Is your volume slider a little to low? This mod only filters the exterior sound, but should never suppress any specific sound. As with the engine sound, you should hear the turbo, but muffled.

This is a good mod Mpie. I have it placed below the Sound Fix mod and the engine is quieter, but placed close to the top of activated my mods and above any other engine sound mods. The only thing I don't hear is the turbo. That should always be loud enough to hear no matter how much soundproofing/insutlation is in the cab. That was always music to my ears. If you didn't hear it then something was wrong

@GT182 I just looked into the Sound Fixes Pack v22.03 files. It doesn't change these truck settings. So there should be no conflict. – But there are engine sound mods that apply custom settings, and you should put this one above them. This won't change the engine sound, but only apply a filter when inside the cab.

Thanks a lot for the feedback regarding the classic trucks! I'll test some values when I find the time, and publish a link here.

When I drove an 80's KW 900 the engine sound in the cab wasn't all that loud. So doing it for that truck should be ok. Same for the 389 Pete I also drove. So a separate mod for these 2 would be great in case no one likes the reduced sound for them.

Does this mod need to be above or below the Sound mod 22.03?

@CrimePusher Thanks for your feedback! – I just realized that I was wrong: The W900 is a classic truck, while the 389 isn't. Not sure yet about the level of insulation on the W900. Certainly not as strong as in the modern ones. – I have it on my list and will try to come up with something.
