Seems to be that you have to clear your Democray folder in your "My Games" folder.

What a shame, that mod doesn't work. No matter what i did. it either doesn't show up in the mod list, or if downloaded manually, it will show up in the list but it won't actually be ingame anywhere, and i scoured all the policy trees and never saw anything involving a palace. :/

It did work once, ..Once. wtf happened? is this mod incompatible with a dlc or another mod or something?

Use the Democratic Decay mod.
It contains a Palace policy.

A variant of the Palace policy has been added to the Democracy in Decay mod. There, it's the poor people who despise the Palace.

I'm sure they did, but did their socialist citizens lack opinions about these palaces? I doubt they liked the notion.

This is an issue of wealth, not liberty. The game seems to "map" things along these two different axes, weatlh allocation and social freedom.

A government that labels itself "socialist" (or anything), can still have very anti-socialist policies (or any policy against the government's self appointed label). An expenditure on a "palace" seems even more likely to be swayed by personal satisfactions and reallocation of wealth to the wealthy (anti-socialist and anti-equality, not anti-liberal).

To claim that this is anti-liberal would be to imply that taxation itself is anti-liberal. While I would concede this philosophically, it isn't in line with the game's mechanics and terminology.

I'm playing with most of your mods enabled. Everything is fine until I want to enable the "Palace" policy. CTD everytime

The Palace budget represents all kinds of government-owned buildings, monuments and parks. Maximum spending on the palace represents extravagant spending on government real-estate, with extreme levels of luxury, decoration and security. Introducing an expense that is less than 1 per cent of the total budget, adds very little to the game.

Socialist and fascist dictatorships, as well as conservative monarchies, have had lavish palaces. Liberals, be they economic left or economic right, oppose material privileges for the political elite.

Make the palace cheaper, and why are Liberals made mad by the palace?

I just thought of a good mod that might complment this one.

The prevention of assasination with higher spending of the palace needs to be increased, significantly. Especially with the technology nowadays, you can only try to assasinate the Head of State when he's somewhere outside the palace or his official residence.

Update 1.20:
* Cost reduced by half.
* No longer affects frequency of Patriots.
* Some benefits are now regressive (diminishing returns).

The maximum setting for the Palace slider is "Forbidden City". It corresponds to the Forbidden City in Beijing, covering 72 hectares (100 soccer/American football fields).

I consider making an update where the Palace is slightly cheaper, and making the benefits more regressive.

Wow, that is an expensive palace; unless the price tag includes hi-tech killer guard robots posted 24/7. 99% assassination protection(?), unless they're planning on nuking your palace. I guess you could always build a nuclear shelter underneath it.

It should upset the Socialists also.
