The Depressed is really fun though, and I'm excited to see his new pocket item. Great job on the mod!
Why would anyone ever want to play as The Desolated?
@baymaxjax Nothing, it is simply a worse version of The Depressed
@serbiangoat1 In the bigger mod, The Depressed will start with a pocket active called "Anti Depressant", which will stop the draining of stats for the current room. From my testing, that new version is actually kinda fun, so I hope you and others will enjoy that version better. (it also enables min-maxing a little, as you can spend unlimited amount of time in the room you activated it in)
It will also start with 2 soul hearts instead of one, although I may not keep that as from my own testing, it's become a bit too easy for my own taste. We'll see!
Currently however, it only adds The Depressed, it's tainted version, and an early version of Plumboy (a character based on Baby Plum)
pausing a run in mid one of those chartacters. removing the mod and then going into the save file makes the file not palyable (crashes imidiatly. every time.) had to reenable the mod so i can go into my savefile.
@Red_Back That's an interesting idea, will experiment with it (a rework is being planned for The Depressed)
@Isaac Sorry no backports
@TwitchTheNimbat It had to be done...
That way you really have to think about what you clear and when: You don't want your golden days running out before the boss fight, and have to wait another 3-5 minutes to have a chance at fighting the boss. Descending to a floor decreases your stats to base (so the loop resets). But actually, this might become a problem if your stats de-sync, like your damage stat resets sooner than your tear rate stat...
So might go with your solution, I'll test stuff around and update as soon as I can
1. Change Pivot X and Scale X to 50
2. Change Scale Y to 60
3. Change Pivot Y to 12
Let me know if you need more help.
E.g.: if give yourself Cricket's Head, then give yourself Soymilk, you don't receive the damage down of Soymilk.
If it was simply Rock Bottom on it's own, then it would be quite boring since that simply makes every item good, and you can win the game with just 1 lucky item.
The way this character works may not be the best way to counter that, but I believe the solution of hurrying the player if they want to utilize this power is pretty fun (although, difficult)
Of course this does mean that min-max players and players who like to take their time will definitely not like this character (and especially not the Tainted version)
But what do you mean exactly by effective stats draining? If you mean that stat ups drain all the way back to your base stats, then that is intended (although with next update, I'm decreasing the rate because right now a soy milk can be drained in one floor)
Doesn't work :(
Effective stats actually drain. In testing the only one I saw function correctly as if I had rock bottom was range. Just make rock bottom his starting item *(actually set it as a starting item so it can't be re-rolled)
The character is supposed to be a bit of a hard one, but not so much that you have to fight final bosses with below-isaac base stats haha, tweaking is necessary for sure
Next update I might make it so you start with Isaac's stats, but you can be drained to the current base stats (aka, below isaac base stats), that way you get a chance to quickly find your first item room at least
Interesting concept!
