Thank you for checking. I've updated the mod title and description
Not sure, I haven't played the game for a while now. But the mod is very simple so it's likely that it still works. Here are the instructions on how to test if the mod is working:
"To test it yourself, make sure that your Gyrocompass is powered on and that your Dive Planes are set to Electric. Then, mouse over the detection icon on the right side of the screen (grey eye symbol) if there is no mention of the gyrocompass or dive planes making noise, then the mod is working."
If it works for patch 2025.1 then please let me know and I'll update the title. Thanks
If it could disable silent running from turning off the gyro and stop dive planes being set to manual, it would be complete. Since they are no longer affecting sound.
It sounds like you are talking about opening previous campaigns and saving them with the mod enabled. That is not what was meant by "new save"
To test it yourself, make sure that your Gyrocompass is powered on and that your Dive Planes are set to Electric. Then, mouse over the detection icon on the right side of the screen (grey eye symbol) if there is no mention of the gyrocompass or dive planes making noise, then the mod is working.
The purpose of this mod is to allow you to leave your gyrocompass and dive planes alone without worrying about their noise being heard by enemy ships. This was a non-issue in real life, and so should not be one of the things that has to be turned off or set to manual for silent running.
But I personally really like the source and pic of it reachable to prove. And that the mod (that looks like cheating on the first view) makes it more realistic in the end.
Nice one.
If you don't like it, don't use it.
I'll take a good look at your link when I get a chance. Thank you for your work and I look forward to new mos from you.
You can now find the source linked at the bottom of the mod description.
The only other testing was at 500 m away (page 25), and it has no indication that the Echolot or gyrocompass were tested or heard, presumably drowned out by the motors.
As for the Echolot itself, it says on page 75 "The shallow depth sounding device works noiselessly, while the deep depth device sends sound impulses which are audible." This being said, the 250 m sound testing shown in the mod images and found on page 24 indicate that the shallow ping was in fact heard, but was very quiet.
The Echolot in-game claims the shallow ping is inaudible to enemies (which shouldn't necessarily be the case). The gyro compass (Kreiselkompass) should be quieter than the Echolot. They do make noise (what with high-speed motors and all) but I doubt it would be audible outside the ship.

The magnetic gyro compass is very quiet mother like daughter compass.
The gyrocompass still makes noise that you can hear in first person mode, but this mod removed the noise value so that other ships will not hear it. This is due to historical information on sound testing done on the U-boats U-45 and U-51, you can view part of this report in the images above.
A gyroscope is not a magnet. Its a spinning wheel mounted in a way so it can spinn freely. This means the wheel stays in the same possition while the mount can be rotated in every direction. From the diffrence between the oriantations you can meassure drift. This means the wheel needs to be spun up all the time so you have some sort of motor running.
?
This mod changes the Entities datasheet to remove the noise values. Any mod that changes the game's datasheets will require a new save to work.
is it because the file for that is in the save file ?
