Just finished this module. Really enjoyed it. If you plan on making more, I will be waiting eagerly. I thought this was really well done.

My only quibble, is that most of the loot came too late in the game. It would have been nice to get maybe one more magic weapon a bit earlier. I did like that the XP awarded was very low, keeping the characters at low levels for much longer than any other module I have played. It made each fight more tactical.

The fight with Gruel was a little anti-climactic as I went into after a long rest, at fourth level and mopped the floor with them. I couldn't get into the last door, in the same room as the exit, so I checked each button to see if I had missed one. I realised afterwards it must have been the one in the room with three ghouls that did not work the first time I pressed it.

The fun part was this allowed me to fight the giant mob that followed the party. By then, I was at fifth level and it was a cakewalk!

Finished it and to the very end loved Harkyn and his stalwart friends thanks to your plot and, more than anything, the little touches that rounded out the story.

One item of constructive feedback, the Sorakh dungeon was too long and dragged on without adding to the adventure, though I appreciated your lampshading by noting that one of our heroes would have words with the builder of the maze....

Yo, this is great! Well-written, a little wry; I like this story of revenge and -- in my case -- four little halflings stumbling into a larger plot of which their unfortunate eponymous friend was a casualty.

Excellent little tidbits of commentary from the characters -- muttering about bears, grimly rummaging through evildoers' camps, having to clean spiderweb off one's clothing: all excellent. It's hard to add characterization to a combat simulator like Solasta, but you made it happen. I adore my little crew.

@Firfurz noted, I spoke with some other module makers and am looking into some methods for improving in that area

Single piece of constructive criticism that I will give to all Dungeon designers: don't rely on enemies showing up out of nowhere in order to stage an ambush against the players in areas your players have been walking around. It is extremely immersion-breaking. If you have character with high perception that you'd send ahead in order to scout the terrain, the ambush shouldn't trigger after the whole party is in the area, but as soon as the scout is detected. If you're not detected, you should be able to back away and ambush them. Otherwise, what is the point of having a high PER character in the party whatsoever? It's a cheap way of getting challenging fights that I really dislike because it feels like enemies just spawned out of thin air. Let players see enemies from a distance, give them enough terrain to maneuver and sneak around the enemy party and turn the enemies' ambush against them. Reward characters with high perception who will unavoidably be crippled in other aspects.

@1800POOPNOW what kind of party did you run it with? just curious/gathering data

Honestly I don't know how everyone was saying this was easy, I thought it was pretty difficult for a low-level quest. There was an absolute ton of battles between rests, and if you don't pick the right party you're pretty much constantly at a disadvantage.

A fun day's play. On the easy side, but that's my only criticism. Thanks

@outcrowd1 thanks, I hope you end up enjoying the whole thing!

@dudefurnowski appreciate it, this module was made before the dialog and quest systems were implemented in the DM, next module will 100% have both. Maybe one day I'll come back and remaster this one with proper dialog/quests

Really really well done. As improvement for the next modules: more dialogue with NPC

I've just started playing and will likely start again because I didn't like the party I chose, but I have to say I'm quite enjoying it so far. Enough story to set the stage for an old school dungeon romp. Polished and flavorful without getting too complicated. A good example of what the DM in its current state can excel at in the right hands.
