though on a related note it would be cool to have a smg variant of this mod (the pistol thing doesn't bother me though)

you just won't be able to use the pistol skills (and there won't be any combat skills to work with the smgs)

btw Mid Favila if you are still using the mod a quick ini edit can change it to a smg just add or change the line to +AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="Bullpup")

or if you have the long war smg pack +AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="rifle") (as LW2 is designed for vanilla xcom 2 and not WOTC they are classed as assault rifles and not the skirmishers bullpups)

i'm pretty sure that's just a quirk of the ability to slot reassignment mod i've noticed a LOT of modded classes have this issue when running it (and i'm pretty sure it has to be fixed on a per class basis)

The corporal rank perk "Quickdraw" has a description of "Firing your SPARK BIT with your first action no longer ends your turn" which I doubt is quite correct.

I have all dependencies installed. I'm just not quite sure why this perk is trying to use the secondary weapon specifically. In the mission prep screen the tooltip for the perk says "Firing your secondary weapon with your first action no longer ends your turn".

But another modded class called the Infiltrator has a perk with the exact same name and icon, except its description has a blank space in lieu of "secondary weapon". And the perk works correctly on that class.

This will most likely be because you have not done the Shens Last Gift story mission or the Mechanized Warfare project. Either of these two events "unlock" the SPARKBit as a normal item in XCOM's inventory.

If you unequip the spark for a gremlin, you lose access to equip the spark again

Personally I find the Mechanic to be a fun Perk to play around with if you like to have an army of SPARKs or other kinds of machines to lead a force-ten gail all over ADVENT. Now if only we'd get either robots with treads, ride-able walkers like in Star Wars without having them look like a clone lol, or any kind of unique Faction Hero who's got the intentions of let's say...D.A.Rs from Killing Floor or any kind of build-able robot that's not from Star Wars. =P

Sorry. On a secondary note, the Mechanic is designed around playing with a Spark BIT, which itself comes with a Heavy Weapon, which can be be a flamethrower, rocket, or any other high powered weapon.

Dragunov, it's been years since I've done any tinkering with X-COM 2 mods, but you should be able to pretty easily edit the class' config file to change the available weapons to whatever you'd like. It shouldn't be hard to find which file with a few Web searches... I want to say it was something like XComClass, but don't quote me on that.


As for the snitty 'What part of "Support Class" is not clear?" I was initially going to not respond, but your attitude is a huge turn-off CC92. If you want to be all condescending about it, it's not hard to argue that X-COM would never *dream* of fielding a unit with *just* a pistol; indeed, look at the Specialist class, or... basically any real world military. Lightest weapon given as a "primary" is usually a PDW or SMG. Why would a field mechanic not be given something like that, if they're expected to regularly come into contact with the enemy? Uncool, dude.

The Mechanic serves as a heavily versatile soldier built not for direct combat
He should be "defending himself" by keeping his big-stompy-robot allies alive ;)

Is it possible to support the Smart Pistol from the "[WoCT]SmartPistol" mod as the main weapon for this class? Unfortunately, due to the fact that the Smart Pistol has a separate weapon class, it cannot be used with this soldier class. But the Smart Pistol will be very relevant for this class, otherwise a soldier cannot properly defend himself with a regular pistol.

What'd be an interesting Class? An Uroboros Host. If you're not familiar with Resident Evil 5, it's a kind of virus that Wesker wanted to unleash to the world, it's like a black, worm-like substance used to change humans with. Only as a Class, it would give them an ability to pull enemies in and infect them with Uroboros, something mind-controlling based, even reanimating corpses.

Three things: first, interesting concept. Always nice to see a unique class on the workshop.
Second, I can confirm that it works with just the Mechatronic Perk Pack.
Third: will there potentially be a LWotC-compatible version? Understandable if not, but it would be a shame.

Build a Spark. The option is likely not there as you have -no Bits available- in your inventory

I gave my mechanic a Gremlin for a covert mission in order to make it faster.
But I don't get the option to re-equip a Spark Bit on the mechanic. Any idea how that could be fixed?

I really want to try this out, but I cannot get past SPARKs, sorry. I am sure its great though. Maybe I will try it without SPARKs and see how it goes though.
