@Majoras If you're in the X2 Modding discord, that would be a very convenient method.

@RakkoHug Most likely they both use an animation with the same name, so it's just using one over the other because as far as the game cares, it's the same animation

I may have encountered a most curious BUG: Specialist equips Ethereal Crown, Grenadier equips Metion Armor (from Claus' Custodians Mod) -> Grenadier uses Metion Rocket to jump jet to a location. -> Instead of the usual rocket pack animation, Grenadier will now use Ethereal Teleport animation used by Ethereal Crown -> If the Ethereal Crown is no longer carried by another squad mate then the rocket animation plays normally.

Would you be interested in a rigged ethereal helmet for soldiers to use? I worked on an ADVENT armor pack ages ago but never released it because a lot of similar mods came out first

Great mod. Love seeing the Ethereals back in action. Appreciate seeing mods still being made years later. Keeps the game alive.

Can confirm there is an overwrite for the animations for certain teleport-like abilities, like that of the jet pack for Metion Battlesuit from Claus' Custodian mod. Iridar's Jet Pack mod is unaffected, but I believe that is because those are custom animations. Just a small visual thing.

Other than that, no other issues from my testing. Thanks again.

Is it possible to make more than one crown? I've killed 3 or 4 ethereals now but haven't been able to make a second item.

Nano, no, you do not need to use it to Teleport. Teleporting has no requirements aside from vision and having action points.

@The Worst I would think it would be a false alarm.

Do I need to use sacrificial power in order to teleport? I see it used in the video but idk if that was you showing off both abilities or if it was required to use it

Bug report: On startup a message popped up saying this mod is incompatible with "recruit multiple heroes from all" mod and that it'd have to be removed for this to function properly. Is that a false alarm or actual?

I did come across a bug with the teleportation, but it's not with the item itself. The teleporting animation seems to have overwritten all moves where the unit moves to one spot immediately, like the Icarus Jump, Metion Battlesuit Jetpack, playing the Crown's teleport animation over those. Sorry for the late notice, I just noticed this now while using the battlesuit.

@PhillySC107 The Self-damage is what bypasses sustain, rather than the damage boost against enemies. Sorry if that wasn't as clear in the ability description as it should be!

I noticed one of the upsides to the ability was being able to have damage that bypasses everything including Sustain, but when I tried so, it didn't work. Granted I haven't tried it with psionic attacks that you can aim, but it was something I noticed and am curious about.

Absolutely beautiful and brutal. I've been running the Praetorian mod since release and they are deadly. I love the modular updates to the components of AHW:RFM and can't wait to see what it next!

@racavara A Requiem For Man is currently in the process of being broken down, improved, expanded upon into a set of mods, so people can mix and match features they prefer, as well as for wider compatibility for things such as LWOTC, CI, etc, and to better allow me to focus on making more interesting and unique mechanics and features.

An example of what's going on is The Standalone edition for The Praetorians, which, while not compatible with the old mod, vastly overhauls and expands on the Praetorians and their design

@Verroak Krasha If you follow the entire "A Harder War" series of mods, you should understand it's meant to deliver a challenge, you were not meant to win. The base game or vanilla game is not meant to be played with the current mods in the workshop (you can easily steamroll that content) and modders like @Reshikillim are trying to fix that to make the game more interesting / challenging. If you had played "A harder war: Requiem" you would understand how unbalanced to the player it is, and you would be begging for a reward like this.

@Circle of Psi, you could consider the bad thing to be kinda like that. It and the HP cost are mostly in place to just prevent an outright abuse of bonus AP, bonus damage, and AP refunds on a short cooldown to steamroll everything.

@Verroak Krasha If you don't like the mod, don't install it, simple as that. The whole point of most of my mods is to make the game harder than it needs to be, in ways I like. 'Balance' was never the center of the design paradigm. Most of the mods are inherently unfair to the player, because they introduce stronger enemies, with little or no rewards to the player. If people like that, cool, if not, that''s fine by me.

Aside from that, there isn't any mod that exists so far that would require this particular mod as a dependency. If you want the mod to be different, many of its features can be configured, or you can literally take the code from this mod and make you own Ethereal Autopsy + Items mod. I won't mind if you do, anyone is free to do so.

@VoidWalker74 Very much a very high risk and very high reward item. Solace mitigates most of the risk, though not all of it, and Lvl 2+ Bondmates can also reduce the risk of the item. And in the case you have a mod that allows you to have more than one utility slot on your soldiers, you can also mitigate some of the risk with a Mind Shield.

@Verroak Krasha If you had watched the video or paid a bit more attention when reading the description, you may have noticed that:

A: The Teleport is not what damages your soldier, nor does it give your soldier a stat penalty.

B: The Second ability given by the Ethereal Crown, Sacrificial Power, which is essentially a hybrid of a Spark's Overdrive and the ability Serial, is why there are major drawbacks to the item.

On use, it gives you an additional action point, increases the amount of damage most weapons and most abilities do, and, for the rest of the turn, if the user kills an enemy, with almost any ability, it refunds you an action point. And it can still be used if you've run out of action points.

In the scenario that say, for example, a Templar was faced with 50 Advent Troopers with 9HP, and your Templar's Rend normally does 8 damage, your Templar could teleport to the enemies, activate Sacrificial Power, and kill every last one of them as long as they're in attack range.

This sounds like a very high risk/high reward item. I feel like it would be best used on soldiers who have abilities that mean they can't be mind controlled

So why would I want to wear the crown if all it gives me is a teleport, and in return damages me, gives me a stat penalty, and kills me when I get mind controlled? Seems like it has some very massive drawbacks for very little gain.

@Perrymcmillan You can increase spawn rate by increasing the spawn weight of the AHWElder unit in the XComEncounterLists.ini of The Ethereal Restoration's config files.

You should be able to add it mid campaign, as I don't think there's anything that'd break things if it were added mid campaign. However, I'd recommend making a backup of your campaign save just in case.
