Denim

just wanna point out, technically denim should be a medieval-tech item (since afaik there's nothing between medieval and industrial), as it was invented during the colonial period, before the industrial revolution. specifically, denim was created in France in the late 17th century (the 1600s), with blue jeans being invented nearly two centuries later, in 1873. the industrial revolution did not begin until around 1760, nearly a century after denim was invented. blue jeans obviously were not invented until over a century after the industrial revolution began, which is understandable given that real blue jeans are manufactured with metal rivets, which is definitely an industrial technology. before that, denim was mostly used in sails and as basically tarps, due to its durability and low manufacturing costs, until portuguese sailors began wearing clothes fashioned from denim (still not technically blue jeans)

Yes. It should be working. :)
Kyokui Avarus 1 Apr, 2024 @ 3:17pm
Will this be updated to 1.5 before release?
Slimeboiiiii 29 Nov, 2023 @ 10:22am
i can finally make all my colonists wear jorts
Myrrhb 10 Jul, 2023 @ 4:03am
Very nice! My only small gripe is that the pawns need crafting 6 to make it. I'd prefer it to be 3 or 4.

But I'm nitpicking. This is a cool mod!

The Jeans Marines are real.
Pvc pipe 26 Jun, 2023 @ 5:29am
It sits between devil strand and hyperweave kind of strong
Pvc pipe 26 Jun, 2023 @ 5:25am
I use this material sometimes, and using with CE, it seems to be super strong stuff
Seanggag 19 Dec, 2022 @ 7:15am
It seems that the Max HP xml is incorrect. Perhaps because of that, the durability is the same as that of Vanilla cloth. Write <MaxHitPoints>1.6</MaxHitPoints> to <statFactors> line apply durability!

Thanks for the update!

Another example to what should already be in the base game, i love this mod so much.
Thetaprime 24 Oct, 2022 @ 11:00am
1.4 update pls.
ironminer888 2 Sep, 2022 @ 2:12pm
Could you make the denim recipe use the dye from the Ideology DLC? I would do it myself, but I'm not sure how to set up XPaths to check if DLC is installed... Otherwise this is a great mod!
Xeonzs 13 Jun, 2022 @ 2:12am
Great mod, perfect substitute for leathers till you got devilstrand.

Perfect!
Lolzorman 25 May, 2022 @ 10:28am
finally i can make jeans, cowboy jats, and justers
Triss 18 May, 2022 @ 8:30pm
Noice.
TurtleShroom 18 Apr, 2022 @ 7:07pm
I agree with Hedgehog_AUT. Using the MAYREQUIRE variable, you should make Denim require the Vanilla Apparel Expanded Mod's Work Clothing Research Project if you have that Mod installed. That would make it actually worth researching.

aah, Steam wasn't telling me this had comments!

@Spooky The Ghost hehe glad you're liking it!

@Latex Santa Thank you!

@Wet Dog Squad lmao! Enjoy your Fur Juit!
Wet Dog Squad 17 Apr, 2022 @ 2:08pm
A friend asked me if I could make a Denim Fursuit when they were watching me play the other day and I didn't have an answer for them. Now I do, and I have you to thank for that. Kudos.
Latex Santa 16 Apr, 2022 @ 10:53pm
Neat. Subbed.
Kyokui Avarus 4 Apr, 2022 @ 6:56am
Literally unplayable without it. My colonists better be clad in denim jeans or I'm dumping 8 max point mech clusters at my feet
Shenanigans  [author] 25 Mar, 2022 @ 7:53pm
@Zenuge There's gonna be devil denim in the non-simple-lite version with the sanforizing machine! I just like the name. Devil Denim. Sounds badass.

@Signia That's such a relief to hear. I struggle a bit with the balancing side of things, but I tried really hard to make this viable. Thanks so much for the feedback!

@Hedgehog_AUT I had it set to be behind complex clothing but totally forgot to upload the changed version. :steamsad: Oops. The JGH stuff looks really nice! I've finished drawing the North and South versions of the workbench, just trying to finish East. What a bastard of a perspective that is to draw in.
Hedgehog 25 Mar, 2022 @ 6:20pm
maybe lock denim fabric behind something at the industrial tech level (maybe machining or tie it to work atire from ve appeal). if you need help for making workbenches maybe hit up JGH he did a bunch of beatyfull re textures already.
Signia 13 Mar, 2022 @ 6:46pm
Don't think I could go without this mod now. The material sits just above pig/human leather as armor whilst offering better insulation, making this a decent early-game material for vegans or colonies lacking good animals so long as you have the extra labor. Lovely niche, thanks maker!
Zenuge 13 Mar, 2022 @ 3:21pm
Devil strand demin? the ultimate duster!
Shenanigans  [author] 7 Mar, 2022 @ 1:00pm
@Intervention yeah, I want to make something like that. Something that lets you make it in bulk for less work. Probably as a separate add-on mod that can maybe sanforize other textiles to give them a few more hp? I've never made a work bench before so I'm figuring out the XML. Also the machine is so hard to draw! I had lofty ideas of making it animated as the cloth goes through but now I'm just trying to make it look like what it's supposed to lol

@cubicPsycho Thank you! That's a good idea! I'll do that for future versions!
cubicPsycho 7 Mar, 2022 @ 12:32pm
Love this mod! Can finally give pawns the denim jeans they deserve. May I suggest locking it behind complex clothing research in the future?
Intervention 5 Mar, 2022 @ 10:20pm
possibly add a sanforising machine that makes producing denim faster.
TheRealStidles 5 Mar, 2022 @ 2:15pm
@Thranos You scare me. Thanks for the new playthrough idea.
Shenanigans  [author] 28 Feb, 2022 @ 9:16am
@Genesis Valentine that was my thinking since real denim takes quite a bit of effort to produce. Thanks for the feedback!

@OptimusPrimordial I want to keep things simple, but maybe putting it behind some research would help? I'll see what I can do!
Thranos 28 Feb, 2022 @ 9:16am
Finally, I can outfit my colonists with jorts and let them kick back on the jofa in their pajeanmas before they go to jed.
big tobacco 28 Feb, 2022 @ 2:16am
i am surprised noone has ever done this before
OptimusPrimordial 28 Feb, 2022 @ 1:12am
This should have something to balance it like needing a sanforizing machine to create.
Con 28 Feb, 2022 @ 12:34am
Considering how easy it is to get cloth, converting it into a much stronger material should require a bit of work so I think it's balanced. You could make it 400 if it seems overkill.

Anyways, nice little mod!
Shenanigans  [author] 27 Feb, 2022 @ 7:57pm
@waffle_da_snake Do you think that's unbalanced? I'll take a look at existing recipes again and maybe change it. I'm not great with numbers.
Sad | CEO of Potatoes 27 Feb, 2022 @ 7:21pm
500 work hmmm
Krazyfan1 27 Feb, 2022 @ 3:01pm
Denim shoes.
MrCheesequakes 27 Feb, 2022 @ 2:37pm
My exact thoughts when I saw this was "Now my duster and cowboy hat-wearers could truly be cowboys!"
I then read the description, makes sense.
silly cookster 27 Feb, 2022 @ 12:16pm
denim jackets! proper denim jeans! yes!
