I never said this mod shouldnt have been made or that the Zaporozhian Cossacks should not be their own civilisation, I just found it funny that this mod, which clearly is meant to represent an independent and probably even anti-Russian Ukraine, is represented by somebody who fought for the Russian Tsar.
cossacks were that weird think, that was kinda between nobility and pessants, formed from poor nobility, bandits, escaped serfs, adventures and pretty much anyone daring enought to risk living on wild borderland, where at any time you could be kidnapped by tattaks and sold as slave, or outright killed, yet, there were a lot of wealth to earn. Pleanty of animals and fish, fertile land, pretty much no law or taxes, and you could raid turks. They were their own think.
Also Slava Ukraini
two: saying that Sirko and Chmielnicki fought for Russia agins Poland, and that they shouldn't represent Zaporozhian Cossacs is plainly stupid.
times where both of them lived were very complicated and just saying 'They fought with russians against poland!' means nothing Ivan sirko fought against poland, yes. And some time later he fought agains russia. he hated otomans, yet he supported Petro Doroszenko (cossack hetman lived 1627-1676) who fought for otomans.
its just kind of ironic that people use characters like Ivan Sirko and Bohdan Khmelnytsky to represent a sovereign and independent ukraine when they both fought for the Russian Tsar against Poland
