Hitman for LwotC

@Heau It is maybe the way i play, but i rather brought any ranger than a lower rank hitman, at higher levels it was pretty dam useful, cause I definitely could not afford to lose concealment, or i should be able to get it back once i lose it, hence the "action economy" almost guaranteed a kill if i got into a pickle at higher force levels when i needed the firepower, i definitely could not afford to bump into a pod of 3 Venators/Riftkeeper or an Ethereal or a Legate unpreapared (aka without spotting them). Like i said, i haven't actually played with the new changes, but being able to get in and beat the shit out of anyone to reconceal was the most fun i had in a while and the best trait of this class for me, unlike the reaper that outright is harder to lose concealment.

@Butifarro, the class was the best scout class in mod jam/ted jam from squaddie up, had the most combat impact among scouts from CPL onward, and became an outright monster at SSGT which made one build trump everything else.

So far I'm liking the change. Wouldn't mind some more melee power at MSGT, but nerfing action econ from quick feet and delaying shadowmelt a bit was overall positive for me.

tl;dr; The update didn't just affect others around them negatively, but many positively too.

thank you for the explanation. I personally don't want the Hitman to be exactly that sort of class, but I do want to maintain part of that fantasy. I'm just unwilling to let it get exactly as powerful as it was. For what it's worth, I am willing to buff the Melee Blender tree, which is what you probably want, I just want to figure out just what needs to be buffed and how.

This is your mod and can do whatever you want, and i can't give you exact reason i would not like it cause i don't have a lwotc campaign running right now, but i still have fond memories of playing with it, and long to be able to play it with CI or amalgamation. But to make such massive changes to an established class that makes it play differently, why not make a new mod at that point? it would be more trouble, but new people will at least see it in the front page.
Anyway, the older i get the, the easier is for me to get annoyed and sound like an entitled prick, even when people rightfully make their own decisions, but when it ends up affecting others around them, even if it comes from the kindness of their hearts, i can't just accept it.

It is just about balance and fun, but balance to what? the base game? and what is fun in xcom 2? the pain of dying to a mere elite trooper? or having badass soldiers manhandling a sectopod prime after months of excruciating struggle just to survive?
8 years after release how many people still play the base game? (this mod in particular is made specifically to be played with a mod). how many people play with enemies beyond what the base game ever even considered possible?.
Your mod was fun because the hitman is very weak at low levels (comparatively), only useful as a scout (for me when my reaper was unavailable), and then can become a killing machine even for FL 20, but depending on your modlist it might not be enough (mine got out of commission regularly even at highest rank).

And I don't care that you don't like the rework. Tell me *why* you don't like the rework, then I'll care.
Oniwabanshu 4 Dec, 2024 @ 7:46pm
But now you know.

@Butfarro who asked
Oniwabanshu 4 Dec, 2024 @ 4:18pm
I am glad i keep a local copies of the mods to prevent stupid changes from affecting me.
Soulfire72 4 Dec, 2024 @ 12:37pm
If it helps, the promotion prompt is on the character, but the prompt cannot be removed by picking any skills. Thanks
worldsoul15  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 5:48am
@Soulfire72 sounds like the problem of a UI mod, not something on my end, but I'll ask around and see if there might be something I can do.
Soulfire72 4 Dec, 2024 @ 12:00am
Good class overall, had a minor bug at the end of a game with a Master Sergeant getting promoted despite already having reached max rank. As a result, the Hitman always had a promotion but I could not level them up. The exp was around 587 when this happened. Playing on Mod Jam LWOTC.
Doesn't really affect anything apart from being a UI annoyance.
worldsoul15  [author] 21 Nov, 2023 @ 11:57am
I'll see what I can do.
MrMister 21 Nov, 2023 @ 6:25am
You need to reconfigure Gunslinger through Ability To Slot Reassignement for it to work with a primary pistol, if you wanna keep it in the hitman's deck. Otherwise it can't be activated.
worldsoul15  [author] 19 Nov, 2023 @ 7:50am
@mandilf7 no. There's a perk that will show up as missing in the xcom deck occassionally, but it won't break anything.
mandlf7 1 Nov, 2023 @ 2:04am
Do you have to actively use the akimbo class & dual wield pistols sub dependency - or will LWOTC mod jam handle it and it just shows as 'missing dependency'?
worldsoul15  [author] 30 Jul, 2023 @ 5:20pm
@hottt3 that's a misleading perk description. The Inventory Slot Weight Toggler for LWOTC mod by Kiruka should negate the mobility penalty of pistols, but it won't show up in the squad select screen as doing anything.
hottt3 26 Jul, 2023 @ 11:02pm
"Quickdraw" perk - the description tells it "negates the mobility penalty for carrying a pistol...", but it does not. At least after taking this perk the mobility penalty is still present in the soldier's stats.((

@4rrakis thanks for pointing this out. Fix is now up.
@D20th I'm not certain how to fix that problem. I'll ask some other people with pistol primary classes.
D20th 15 Feb, 2023 @ 10:24pm
I'm getting Faceoff at a 20 AP price in the tier 3 XCOM deck, not that I'm complaining.
4rrakis 14 Feb, 2023 @ 1:49pm
There is still a part of the pistols perk row left - Quick Draw on corporal level.
worldsoul15  [author] 20 Jul, 2022 @ 9:39am
@Measle there's a perk in the Xcom deck called Checkmate that is lifted from the Akimbo. Go into the folder SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/268500/2771922076/Config and find the file "XcomClassData". Notebook+ will open the file. You can then search for 'DP_Checkmate" and replace that with "ShadowOps_ReadyForAnything"(note: this is a random perk i picked because it has some synergies with how the Hitman works. If you're up for it, you can find any perk from one of the perk packs listed as a dependency and put it in instead). Then you should be able to play the Hitman without the Akimbo and still get a full Xcom deck.
Measle 18 Jul, 2022 @ 7:44pm
What does this mod depend on from the akimbo mod? I'm not a huge fan of the akimbo class, but I don't want to mess around with it if it'll break something.
Mars Albiorix 24 Jun, 2022 @ 9:35pm
Don't know how much of a problem it is, I'm not sure how many other people are using a mod last updated in 2017. Just thought I'd let you know. It was an easy enough fix to just add a 2 to all the names.
worldsoul15  [author] 22 Jun, 2022 @ 5:23pm
@Mars Albiorix I'm sorry that you hit a conflict. I'll see about getting it fixed sometime soon.
Mars Albiorix 21 Jun, 2022 @ 4:24pm
There's a naming conflict with This mod . Both use the 'Hitman' internal name for a class.
4rrakis 16 May, 2022 @ 4:26am
No problem! And your question is still there, you posted it on the Gladiator mod page.
Izmailov71 16 May, 2022 @ 4:19am
Thank you! Maybe I was trying to ask a question but I wrote it in the wrong place. I've been wondering for a while why the question I wrote was gone... I finally found the answer in the grimys folder. Thanks again!
4rrakis 16 May, 2022 @ 4:05am
I just answered the question on the other mod page, but just in case you did not see it: Gunpoint is from Mitzruti's Perk Pack.
Izmailov71 16 May, 2022 @ 4:02am
Hitman is a really interesting class. Promoting soldiers is rly exciting because the strategy is different from the existing classes. But I have one question. Currently, I have translated the skills of this mod for personal use, but only one 'gunpoint' could not be found anywhere. May I know where the 'gunpoint' skill came from? I couldn't find it in mitzruti or shadow ops.
4rrakis 12 Mar, 2022 @ 6:43am
No worries, mistakes can happen. Thanks for the fix!
worldsoul15  [author] 12 Mar, 2022 @ 6:33am
All fixed now, sorry for the mistake. I forgot to change one instance of the name and everything broke
Shady Suspicious Smiling Man 12 Mar, 2022 @ 1:25am
the sudden namechange broke the class, I'm trying to use commands to swap my existing tough to a hitman but its a blank
CockMeatSandvich 12 Mar, 2022 @ 1:08am
Mod is broken
Reaper The Hedgehog 12 Mar, 2022 @ 12:09am
Mod just broke for no apparent reason, played it with it for a new ingame months then both of my soldiers who had this class had a blank instead in their Class name, tried to rebuild soldier class using the mod Additional Soldier Commands but they got reset to Sharpshooter.

Was there an update to this mod that could have caused this?
worldsoul15  [author] 4 Mar, 2022 @ 8:22am
I wouldn't call it a "must have" class, since the base detection range for them is larger than an SMG's(why they have Shadowborn), so they can't really do much beyond standard concealment scouting.
Jestimac 4 Mar, 2022 @ 4:07am
It looks like a "must have" class.
Latis 3 Mar, 2022 @ 8:02pm
Wll try it for sure
worldsoul15  [author] 3 Mar, 2022 @ 2:37pm
please do. I'll be unable to access my modding computer for around a week starting in twenty three hours, so any feedback and bug reports have a limited window before I'll have trouble responding to them.
4rrakis 3 Mar, 2022 @ 2:27pm
No doubt about that. If I find something I'll let you know.
worldsoul15  [author] 3 Mar, 2022 @ 2:20pm
thanks! I'm honestly expecting at least a few bug reports, because I'm using a lot of Mitzuri's perks in this build, and his stuff can be kind of buggy sometimes.
4rrakis 3 Mar, 2022 @ 2:00pm
Sounds like a cool class!
