my reaction to that information
Cheers.
- That's fair, and I won't disparage it. If you enjoy what you do, then that's what matters.
- This I disagree with though. While they do catch attention, they don't provide any info about what the map looks like or how it progresses, which lead to people not trying it out. It's like a Gmod map submission where the only picture is a Gaben meme. It catches the eye, but does it compel them to try the map?
-Making maps is not easy or lazy, is a lot of work.
-I don´t really care about appealing or clicks I make this for fun, nobody pays me.
-I think this three screenshots plus the video catch people attention and they are not vague or have zero relation, what I show I deliver (as good as I can).
Anyway if you want real screenshots don't worry, I will make my next maps with real ones instead of internet photos.
If you want to maintain the mystery, just take a few vague screenshots like the spawn room and maybe one or two of the spots in the general backrooms area. No need to screencap anything the player is meant to come across ingame, just give 'em something to interest them enough to click Subscribe. Anyone can link random internet photos to an upload that have zero relation to what's actually inside the addon, that's why submissions with no screencaps or video are often overlooked.
Just my two cents.
For anyone curious what the map looks like due to zero visuals given by the uploader.
Fairly basic, but interestingly done. i could see this being scary to someone playing it alone and knowing what the Backrooms is all about.
(At the end, you can see the briefcase - that's what you need to safely grab and bring back to the spawn to win. I didn't bother showing that since nothing else happens beyond the window encounter.)
