When I load in a save using this mod the game crashes, however, if I load up any other country its fine. Can anyone help?

So for anyone wondering why I haven't updated the mod in awhile, it kinda broke on my PC while editing it. I can't find a fix so I'll have to redo the entire mod from scratch (with the new planned features of course). Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's five years, I can change it.

Another thing I wanted to ask is if you could perhaps just check if the term length is indeed 5 years? I think that the term in the game is four years at the moment which is wrong.

Very interesting! I think the taxi's would make the South African dynamic much more true to life. I look forward to trying it.

I was planning on introducing taxi's to the game to see how that shifts the dynamics of public transport and car ownership. I was also planning on making blackouts and issue if you don't implement load shedding, but this is difficult as it is nearly impossible to have no electricity in the base game.

Thanks! May I ask what you consider changing? After my first play through I saw a few things that I wondered about. Isn't community policing technically already in place in SA with neighbourhood watch initiatives? Another thing is that I think that gated communities are actually discouraged by the current government since they see it as increasing division. But it all depends on what you consider being encouraged or discouraged since there are definitely a lot of gated communities.

That is weird. I did set it to 60 million. Must have been an update that changed it, I'll fix it in the next update. Might add some more features too.

Hey thanks for this mod! I look forward to trying it. I just started it up. I'm not sure what influence it actually has on the game, but why is the population set to 123 million people? I think the latest census showed that we just crossed the 60 million mark.

@TackdriverTim I personally play by doing community policing early on to reduce crime. My main goal when starting is to inact policies that don't cause any popular groups to dislike me while also helping make the country better slowly. Its a popularity contest first, appeal to the masses and eventually you can fix the real issues.

Can you give me some tips on how to win this scenario? I can't make it out
Magic  [author] 18 Apr, 2022 @ 11:55am
@Bdan720 When comparing the crime in South Africa compared to USA or UK, the high crime rate seems more valid in-game. The Poor Having such high disposable income is weird though, I will need to have a look at that. A for corruption, I agree. It should be higher, and there should be electricity shortages too. I will look into homelessness as well. (Please note that I don't change country attributes directly if I can. I usually prefer to mod the policies to mimic real life and the consequences are mapped in-game) As for the events, I'm reasonably sure they are pre-scripted to happen under certain conditions so at the beginning of the game they will be the same. (for instance having a weak military will prompt shows of force by other countries)

Very interesting. I do like the mod, but I have some observations. I’m no expert on balance.
There is something odd about the Poor group. When you look at the Disposable income tab, the Poor members spend money on private housing, private healthcare and private school, yet they all receive Minimum wage and Unemployment benefits and some are also State employee members. I’m not too sure how the game works.

I don’t think crime should be 90% - 100%.
I wonder if the Corruption stat should be higher.
There is a homelessness status in some circumstances. Should that be implemented?
The same end turn events happen over and over again every new game. Can this be changed to be random or are they supposed to happen regardless?

Really interesting country to attempt.

I think the mod is pretty realistic and balanced right now but if anyone has any ideas for changes or any issues with it please let me know!

XD Your name just makes that comment even better

if you could include the impact of Braai's on global warming that would be great? :-)

Skill shortage is something I will have to modify. Business confidence is already pretty low considering you start off with the crisis "Corporate Exodus". Tax evasion is something I'll have to research. Homelessness is something I can definitely edit in. Obesity is a slight problem that I can modify further. Rail Worker strikes happened naturally to me after a few turns, but I can change that too. Gridlock in cities is definitely a problem. Finally endangered species and mineral wealth is something I'm looking into. Thank you for the feedback @Avaritia !
Milei Malaise 23 Mar, 2022 @ 3:17am
It is a really good idea for a mod, I will subscribe to it.
I think though that you should probably add in the following negatives:
Skill shortage (given the emigration issue)
Hurt the business confidence a lot (to represent the state of uncertainty and high tax burden)
Consider putting in tax evasion
Put in a homeless crisis
You should also definitely be putting in a obsesity problem as well as tweaking gender discrimination to be quite bad to probably represent the GBV issue.
You might also want to put rail worker strikes to represent the current state of PRASA or Transnet
Also putting in gridlock traffic which is quite a large issue in all the major cities for a long while.

Putting endangered specifies and the mineral modifier is probably appropriate.
Magic  [author] 20 Mar, 2022 @ 3:13am
I'll see if I can add those @Generalissima Aquachet
Hostile Delfim Netto 19 Mar, 2022 @ 6:47pm
Mineral Wealth as a green condition (like "High Productivity" and such)could come in handy, along with the "Endangered Species" green condition

South Africa is a weird case because all the ethnic minority boosts should technically be for the majority of the population, since it was actually the minority Europeans that ruled the country.
hloni77maseko 19 Mar, 2022 @ 4:29am
We really need this on Democracy 4. I love this idea as a South African and it will add variety
Xuantong 19 Mar, 2022 @ 3:19am
nice
