@Traldar well technically it has the thrust for that in the main forward (B) thrust direction, but it does not have enough lift thrust vertically as it is built as a warp sled and not a planet hopper. If you can angle it up enough you could maybe use the rear thurst to get off a High-G planet

I love this design! Thank you for sharing!
Do you think it can handle a 4G planet, with very few cargo?

Filbert, you didn't signal the trigger plate for the teleporter =(

@TheIronDuke that is either to add an Aux power core or an RTG to allow for the ship to continue to have the ability to sit idle without burning fuel after more upgrades have been added to it.

Just out of interest, what is the 1x1x1 space for on the right side of the hangar? It's covered by a shutter and a forcefield so is it for an aux core or something? Thanks!

Hey @Mike - I will post it ASAP and link here. :-)

Thanks !

Nevermind I found it - for anyone wondering it's accessed from a shutter door on the OUTSIDE of the ship, next to the right / starboard thrusters!

@TheIronDuke there is a retractable ramp on the nose that covers up an area where more upgrades can be stashed

This is a great first carrier and everything has worked flawlessly so far. Lovely design too. I just have one question - where is the "room in the bow on the starboard side where extra shield capacitors/chargers can be added if needed"? I found the areas for the cpu extenders, extra generators and the repair bay items but I can't find that zone anywhere! :D

@Dietrich - what did you do for an Attack Module?
Dietrich 5 Jun, 2022 @ 10:50pm
Been using this for several weeks now. It was my early CV. I loved it. Completely retextured it, but I sure love this build and series. Just spawned the Astra II - Script and used the script to recycle this. I had a goodbye ceremony for my most beloved. I made an "Attack Module" for this series and it's a monster addition if I do say so... Thanks for this build and your series.

@CheekyShenanigans, the Astra modules are large enough that you can combine or upgrade their functions. The author also showed how they can deploy in specific situations, having enough space around them to be built up temporarily for a given purpose, in that example adding solars. Rather would you add guns after undocking? Then guns you add. :D As for the weak thrust in given directions, you can fix that with a single device, a second cockpit. Just add it in the orientation you'd like the front facing to actually be, as JRandall once demonstrated (for the Interfector).

Thank you for the in-depth review! Glad you like it Cheeky!

Further review: Initially, I thought I may choose to use the larger Astra Mk II because I need to carry a combat cv and a mining cv; however, deck size is deceptively large, and the 2 cv's fit easily with room to spare. The choice of steel construction to reduce mass is efficient. With good situational awareness, the risk of attack is low, and there is little need for armor. Reduced mass is available for carrying capacity, the ship's primary purpose. At 850k CPU there is room for expansion. Add 5x advanced CPU X's to upgrade thrusters if necessary. Thruster size is well thought out. The ship prioritizes rear and downward thrust, which leaves strafing and upward thrust weak; however by rolling and taking advantage of rear and downward thrust, the ship can turn more quickly. With thrusters on and stationary it is enough to power the ship's functions. With thrusters off, there is a much larger surplus of solar energy (almost 1Kw). Overall, I give the ship 10/10.

Another great creation! This will be my carrier for season 4 :steamhappy:
