woah hey, with something like this I might actually not disable breakdowns! Maybe...
Argón  [author] 14 Feb, 2024 @ 8:52pm
Thanks! Your kind words mean a lot to me <3
Lurmey 14 Feb, 2024 @ 11:41am
I think that's a fantastic idea! It makes a lot of sense actually: If you've not got the means to repair a damaged part, but need the machine running again nonetheless, your next option is to replace the damaged part. It should probably be an opt-in mod setting, just so people don't all of a sudden start using up their components when they run out of solder without realising!

Thanks so much for being onboard with my suggestion! You're easily one of the best modders in the community. Keep being awesome :)
Argón  [author] 13 Feb, 2024 @ 7:49pm
Maybe not the best idea, but I can actually modify the mod so that it would admit both the components and the solder. With the latter taking priority in case of having both in storage. That way, it won't cause conflicts with other mods.
Lurmey 13 Feb, 2024 @ 3:55pm
Hey Argon, I'm not sure if this is something you'd be willing to do but thought I'd mention it anyways. I'm anticipating this mod being incompatible with SoS2 in such that the shield generator is normally repaired using components, so all enemy ships spawn with some components in storage. This mod will make those components useless to enemies, and their shields unrepairable. The SoS2 team mentioned it's probably possible to make a patch to replace the components on ships with solder, or my suggestion is it may be easier to just omit the few types of shield generators from this mod's purview.

It would be amazing if you could help to resolve this as I thoroughly enjoy both mods and don't want to give up either of them! Thanks :)

I removed the dependency some time ago. If you don't have EM - Metals they just cost steel.
Autumn 17 Jun, 2023 @ 4:17pm
How do you craft these without either EM Metals mod? Does it just cost steel, or steel and something else? I'm not a fan of EM Metals personally, but I do love these kits.
George Soros Gaming 22 Apr, 2023 @ 1:07pm
Ok, thank you for the quick response.
Argón  [author] 22 Apr, 2023 @ 12:52pm
afaik, fluffy's mod only delays the breakdown by making you have to maintain it so I suppose it should
George Soros Gaming 22 Apr, 2023 @ 11:55am
is this compatible with fluffy's breakdowns?
Smiley Face Killer 12 Apr, 2023 @ 5:54pm
Yea, I like how it looks right now. I mean the tray could use a recolor but other than that I like the graphic. But again, just my two cents
Argón  [author] 12 Apr, 2023 @ 4:53pm
Glad you're enjoying, but I don't quite understand what you mean. You say if I update the graphic of the repair kit?
Smiley Face Killer 12 Apr, 2023 @ 3:02pm
Lovin your mods especially the metals series. I always welcome new materials to my games. And this is going to be a welcome change. Also, I like how the kit itself looks but if you do update it I just wanted my two cents in on that (if you change it though I'll live lol)
Fenn Psyian 6 Jan, 2023 @ 3:25am
yay, I was going to say. It worked just fine, just needed the tag updated. But now I won't get that alert telling me it's incompatible ^w^
Argón  [author] 5 Jan, 2023 @ 8:27pm
Updated
HIVEMIND 5 Jan, 2023 @ 6:58pm
wake up samurai <3
CTH2004 6 Sep, 2022 @ 12:36pm
fair enough (:
wait a second, even if I combine it with your mods, it will make those mods slightly easier. Sure, just a fraction of a percent, but still...
Argón  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 10:52am
Well, not if you combine it with other of my mods *wink wink*
CTH2004 6 Sep, 2022 @ 8:49am
great! but, wait, doesn't that make the game easier! Shame, I wanted to download this... (:
Argón  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 8:21am
Indeed
CTH2004 6 Sep, 2022 @ 7:57am
so, you can use this in place of components for repairing?
Argón  [author] 31 Mar, 2022 @ 4:55pm
I can make alternative recipes, but if you want you can write your own patch very easily, I can help you with it if you want.
MyFriendRa 31 Mar, 2022 @ 1:13pm
Swap steel cost with silver, please? Solder is made from silver or can be lead based also (?)
Also, I really enjoy the Expanded Materials mods, but any way to not have to use more limited steel stock would be decent!
Argón  [author] 28 Mar, 2022 @ 3:20pm
Fair, also I have a better idea for a lite version anyway xd
VolatileGlitchAviator 28 Mar, 2022 @ 11:40am
in all honesty bloat is up to the person not the people telling you it is, if you created it knowing the content you wanted in it, everyone else can take a short walk off a short pier telling you its bloat, its your mod not theres if they don't like it they can shut up and go learn and make there own version.
Argón  [author] 28 Mar, 2022 @ 7:00am
Yeah some people comment it adds too much for what they like, and I kinda like to exaggerate it to shield myself for those comments xd, even if they're not meant to be harmful. Glad to hear you like the mod.
Tec 28 Mar, 2022 @ 6:59am
i hope no ones actually commented saying expanded materials is a bloated mess, as thats not true. I used to play Hardcore sk because of all the metals and processing it added as well as the more complicated recipes. I am grateful for expanded materials metals and your other mods. SOme people ahve made pretty big patches for your mod in alterating recipes to make use of the different thigns too. its great. :)
Alexolas 27 Mar, 2022 @ 4:30pm
neat
Argón  [author] 27 Mar, 2022 @ 9:52am
That sounds great ngl, and I'm also so happy that you like that mod ^^ I will focus first on materials though, as I've found them pretty amazing, but I'm gonna take your input for when I rework EM - Plastics.
Yootah 27 Mar, 2022 @ 8:05am
I love that bloaty mess you call Expanded Materials - Metals, with full features and everything <3

Loosely related: I recently described your mod series to my SO, as in how there is a metals module, and then a plastics module... and he asked jokingly, "so what's next, a Global Warming module?"
And I thought that sounded bloody awesome, especially with VE gang formerly teasing an "environmental impact" mechanic for Power module but idk whether the plan was shelved indefinitey. Think about it tho ;)
Argón  [author] 27 Mar, 2022 @ 6:02am
@CrackaJack: Thank you! Glad you enjoy them.
Argón  [author] 27 Mar, 2022 @ 6:02am
@VolatileGlitchAviator: Theoretically, Fluffy's mod makes machines need constant maintenance or else they break, this mod changed the item that is used to repair them when they break. Technically you can use both mods together, and if you let your machines broke you will have to use one of these repair kits to fix it
CrackaJack 27 Mar, 2022 @ 5:07am
love your mods, great work
VolatileGlitchAviator 27 Mar, 2022 @ 12:40am
Ah so i can dump fluffys breakdowns and put this mod in as it does almost the same thing? :D
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 8:34pm
Nice to hear you're glad, there's currently a beta on the vanilla testing expanded server just in case you're interested
IceMaverick 26 Mar, 2022 @ 8:14pm
Oh boy, great news to hear about the upcoming release of a new EM project!
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 7:19pm
So kinda like fluffy's breakdowns, only that your colonists won't have to go maintain the building as frequently, and the kits are very cheap as well
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 7:18pm
It just makes so that you have to use these kits instead of components to repair buildings (I mean the breakdowns, not when you have to restore the HP of a structure)
VolatileGlitchAviator 26 Mar, 2022 @ 6:58pm
I am a little confused as to what this does, so this uses component repair kits instead of the components themselves? in stuff like fluffys breakdowns or stuff that needs to be repaired with this kit?
Autumn 26 Mar, 2022 @ 6:43pm
Alright, thank you!
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 6:21pm
Lite has tin, so it should
Autumn 26 Mar, 2022 @ 6:03pm
Does this work with the lite version?
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 5:50pm
I use fluffy's breakdowns a lot, but I found that colonists spent too much time maintaining buildings to me, so I decided to throw this quick mod. The good news is that you won't be waiting much more because Stones and Mortars is hopefully on the last stage of development.
IceMaverick 26 Mar, 2022 @ 5:26pm
Was excited for a new Expanded Materials series entry, but then I had to pick up my briefcase full of Fluffy's Breakdowns and go back to the waiting room. Seems like a great mod otherwise.
Venusgate 26 Mar, 2022 @ 4:27pm
I was just thinking there should be a mod like this! The only thing different I was thinking is a mechanism built in where if they are used to repair, they half the duration until the next break, somehow.
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 3:54pm
I honestly haven't tested it, in fact, I didn't even know that mod existed .-.
Cato 26 Mar, 2022 @ 3:03pm
Looks interesting. If Solder Kits and Components are in the same stock pile, will pawns prioritise using SK's for repair tasks instead of components? Or will it be fair game for both / which one is closer to the door?
Argón  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 2:31pm
I will probably make a small standalone version
TrahsPanda 26 Mar, 2022 @ 2:25pm
Would it be possible to not have to use Expanded Materials - Metals? I like this mod, but I don't wanna use EM-M.
