@Peepoclap Thanks! I did hit GC eventually after I decided to stop playing workshop maps and start learning how to win until I got it, but when I made this trailer, I was probably low c3 or maybe high c2.

@GrandChimp crazy man feel like you couldve been high champs to low GC with that ball control. props to you though I really like this.
GrandChimp  [author] 24 Jun, 2022 @ 6:18am
@Peepoclap lol I was still in champ when I completed the trailer too.

@GrandChimp that helps alot, I used to be able to dribble for 2 seconds now I can do 14 in 2 hours of practise :)
GrandChimp  [author] 18 Apr, 2022 @ 5:25pm
@Alex here's a video with 60 and -8 settings that starts off with infinite style air dribbles but also more normal stuff that still feel and look fairly natural: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUtRaQdHc-A . I probably wouldn't push your camera settings too much more extreme than that at first unless you really want to go all in.
GrandChimp  [author] 18 Apr, 2022 @ 5:17pm
@Alex I usually keep distance at 270 and fov at 110 because I mix air dribbling with other stuff and those keep a good level of awareness. For this video, I used height of 40 and angle of 0, but for more hybrid stuff where I mix air dribbles into freestyles or games where I plan to do a lot of air dribbling, I'll run with a height of 60 and an angle of -8. It's a subtler difference from the more common settings people run in comp but still allows me to see under the ball. 40 and 0 make dribbles or anything where you need to have some depth perception in front of your car very hard but make the air dribbles easier. 60 and -8 are a good middle ground for me whenever I'm doing something besides just air dribbles. Hope that helps.

@GrandChimp 1 last tiny favour, do you mind telling me your camera settings, I tried FancyDuck's but it seems very low and I would have to constantly change it, yours look perfect for both
Milk 18 Apr, 2022 @ 2:37pm
@GrandChimp thanks for the help. you seem really good
GrandChimp  [author] 18 Apr, 2022 @ 2:17pm
@Alex, also, at least for while you're learning, you'll want to use camera settings that let you see the spot you're contacting on the ball and don't bounce around too much when you're under the ball. They don't have to be anything extreme as long as they check both those boxes, but it will be hard to learn this style of air dribble if you can't consistently see what you're doing.

I mostly mix this sort of air dribbles with freestyles in my videos, but if you like this kind of air dribbling, you should check out FancyDuck. He's probably the all time best at it (in my opinion anyway).

@Alex I don't think the controls matter too much as long as you have both air roll left and air roll right bound and you can use those independently of your steering and boosting. I have my air roll and tilt on my right joystick, steering on my left, boost on my left bumper, jump on my right bumper, forward and backwards on the triggers, camera on the dpad, ballcam on x, and powerslide on circle. I'm fairly sure I'm one of the only air dribblers that uses both joysticks, though. I think the others mostly use circle and square for air roll right and left. As long as you have both air rolls bound and can use them while you're doing whatever else you're doing with your car, your controls should be fine.
Milk 18 Apr, 2022 @ 9:36am
also whats your controls? I wish to be like you
Milk 18 Apr, 2022 @ 8:56am
@GrandChimp if you don't mind could you tell me your controls and camera settings, I also have a ps5 controller
V, Merc for Hire 15 Apr, 2022 @ 12:23pm
Nahh, if that's all you took on it to memorize.. Damn, way less time than I thought! You are incredible, keep up the good work!
GrandChimp  [author] 15 Apr, 2022 @ 5:36am
@The Butcher of Blaviken Agreed. I spent 1 hour in solo queue yesterday only to break even on mmr due to instant leavers and teammates playing for the other team. I spent about 20 minutes becoming familiar with the layout of this map. Fairly sure my time was wasted in both instances, but I had a lot more fun making the video. If I had to do it again, I'd keep the air dribbles a bit lower so you could see more... would make things less boring. I'm currently working on a freestyle / impossible shots version, though, and while map memorization is still going to be a big deal for that, at least I'll get to enjoy more of the map than just the ceiling haha
V, Merc for Hire 14 Apr, 2022 @ 9:54pm
You're an incredible air dribbler. Lil bit of a nuisance on the video I guess for me, you can only see the ceiling.. How would you know where you are going unless you've memorized everything? That's a lot of wasted time (imo)
Milk 14 Apr, 2022 @ 4:20pm
@GrandChimp how are you so good with 120 hz I need the special secrets...
GrandChimp  [author] 14 Apr, 2022 @ 5:16am
@Alex I use a PS5 controller and a 144 hz monitor run from a GTX1650. I have my frame rate locked at a stable 120 though, since that's an even multiple of the 60fps the physics engine runs at and helps with the consistency of input buffering. There's a lot going on in this map, though, so I had to drop the graphics settings quite a bit in order to hit a stable 120 fps. Hope that helps.
Milk 14 Apr, 2022 @ 4:08am
Can I ask what specs you have like Monitor, Controller Exc..
GrandChimp  [author] 8 Apr, 2022 @ 5:35pm
And thanks for the nice comments, btw!
GrandChimp  [author] 8 Apr, 2022 @ 5:35pm
@FancyDuck I'm pretty sure that makes you the first to do it haha. I probably won't attempt that until I do the freestyle / impossible shot run I'm kind of procrastinating about. I'll keep an eye out on your socials in case you post any runs. Sounds impressive to watch.
FancyDuck 8 Apr, 2022 @ 5:29pm
@GrandChimp My bad, I meant to specify a 100% complete with all the ankhs. I just completed a very dirty blind 100% run that took 103 minutes. Some of the ankhs are brutal lol. I'll try a checkpoint only run next. I really enjoyed it tho! Thank you for posting this c: Your control is looking excellent btw!
GrandChimp  [author] 8 Apr, 2022 @ 5:18pm
@FancyDuck just me as far as I'm aware. We're all waiting for you to do it better, though! ...and I'm also planning to do a freestyle playthrough soon instead of just airdribbles. There's so much stuff in this map that looks fun to mess around with.
FancyDuck 8 Apr, 2022 @ 3:28pm
Has anyone beaten this yet?
imso 28 Mar, 2022 @ 5:11pm
this is really fun cool idea
