Ah, ok I see now why you would think that the mod would influence your server. Actually, the reason why you see the options is because you have activated the mod on game launch. Which options you see in the server settings menu is not influenced by the server's mods but rather by the mods you have loaded when starting up the game. You can change these mods in the "Mods" menu (accessible from the main menu).
Having said that, the mod options are shown but they don't have any effect on the server's game. That is because the mod is not loaded in the server. The options have no influence whatsoever on the game. If you don't want to see these options anymore in the server menu, just deactivate the mod in the "Mod" main menu.
Great to hear that it works now!
till CDDA fixes the issue its having,
ill just stick with this mod for the speed, and deal with the multiplier instead of the streight xp
That being said, when you change the minutes per page setting on the server and then additionally use my mod, the reading speed will increase and not slow down. The speed-up from the server setting and the speed-up from my mod add together. (I tested this beforehand just to be sure)
Since you are experiencing a slow-down are you sure that the minutes-per-page setting on the server .ini file is correctly configured? The closer the value is to zero the faster is the reading speed.
I recommend you to disable this mod and any other mod which increases the reading speed.
But if you really want to keep the functionality of CDDA Reading you could try to change the order in which my mod and CDDA Reading are loaded. In the main menu, first activate CDDA Reading and then my mod. Doing that, I could at least get the reading speed of my mod working. Whether CDDA Reading works as intended I don't know.
hey nico,
single player, (sadly XD,, im a miserable f**ker :P)
any idea what mod could be conflicting with it ?
the mods ive got a....
<scratch that i unsubbed and unfav'ed all my mods and in the process of "attemping" to sort em out lol
the current mods im using that could maybe(?) have something to do with the books are...
Show XP gain
show skill up name
boredom tweaks <maybe?>
tidy up meister
better sorting
manage containers
video meister
has been read
what did i put in here
p***o mags + the pinups mod
<part2>
does the xp from reading mod "CDDA Reading" or "CDDA Reading (No Mod Options)"
work with this ? i think thoses where the only other book related mods i attempted to use,
i tried a few of the speed reader mods in combination with CDDA reading i believe that might have been where i was screwing up (shrugs)
--- if that is the case and the speed reading doesn't work with them,
could i get your recommendation on if i should use a xp from reading mod, or stick with just this on its own <thanks boss>
p.s
sorry for the long winded wall of text lol
You can give me more details and we can figure out why it currently doesn't work for you. Do you use it for singleplayer or multiplayer? Remember, that for multiplayer the mod has to be installed and configured on the server.
Other than that it could be a conflicting mod issue, even though the Mods footprint is quite small and should integrate well with most mods.
If this mod doesn't work for you I assume there is a problem with other mods you have installed. Other than that, if you add this mod to your server it should work right out of the box.
I rechecked the functionality of this mod and everything works as expected (Singleplayer and multiplayer , current version 41.71)
Which part doesn't work for your? The increased reading speed or the increased consumption rates or neither? Are you using the mod in single player or multiplayer? Did you use the mod on a new game or did you add it to an existing game? Did you change any default values?
Of course incompatability with other mods could always be an issue. Feel free to post the mods you are using, especially the ones which have something to do with reading.
Keep also mind that for a mod to work on a multiplayer server it is not enough to activate it in the main menu but also needs to be added to the server's mod list.
Also in case people want to finetune each rate individually, you can now do that in the sandobox options.
That's strange behaviour you are describing. I tested hunger and thirst outcomes back then and they matched the ones without mod. Let me double check and come back to you.
Regarding boredom, there really seems to be no additional boredom applied. Seems to be an outdated function call responsible for that.
You can expect necessary changes coming in the next days.
This problem is easily proven as follows:
Play without the mod, keep starting a new character until you start in a home with a Vol.1 book, read the entire Vol.1 book immediately, once you are done, you will always be "Peckish" and "Slightly Thirsty"
Now play with the mod and do the same thing a above. You'll see that you are "Hungry" and "Thirsty" right after reading the book.
I'm not sure if the boredom scaleup works. My character never got bored, even while reading Vol.4 or Vol.5 books in one go.
