@ksfeeman after a quick check it appears that there is no more gorilla head in the quest resolution, it was replaced by a white monkey skin item to avoid bug with solasta main game updte. Do you have the v1.7 of the adventure ? If not this version is required.

that's smart.
tbh, I never use the grease spell before, it's just too conditional and hard to tell the area of effort, so my own melee character can get close to enemy and not fall prawn.

@ccy + a mage that spoile the ground with grease for exemple so that it's less enemy that will attack in one turn.

@ccy Can't tell for the AI but yep it's better anyway to fight ape with range weapon otherwise they have 2 attacks in melee. For the fight I'll check how to nerf it but know that it was doable repetidly during the playtest with a classic lvl3 party so.. It may also depend on the strategy used. With a tank using the "dodge" action it let fre the 3 other to deal range damages and the fight might be not that hard.

Yes, I do have a cleric(battle domain) but at lvl3 I can only heal back one downed teammate per round without massive healing.
Maybe with the new druid subclass(sorry I don't recall the English name because I am playing in Chinese) from Lost Vally DLC will help since the healing buff will take effect and heal back a teammate again.
BTW, the apes are stronger in melee, but they will choose to run away to use the throw attack, and a lot of time with disadvantage, don't know why this happened or this monster design just weird.

Just finished the short run.
1. Great environment design, I have to lower my video setting to not lag though.
2. The while Ape encounter is too deadly for a lvl3 party. It just one shot my characters. (I beat it with a rogue using perma-stealth to sneak attack while other 3 members are dead)
3. The last fight is balanced or on the easy side since our party is lvl4. But the final after-battle words were poped (too early) once a character get close to the coffin during the fight, which interrupts.

@sirmadnesstv I leveled them up to 3 at first and it was able to detect those characters but when I level them to 4 or 5 it does not detect them. Thanks for replying so quickly. :]

Hey there @boredgoose ! You have to prepare first, your party in the "create character main menu" after you setup your character you can "increase level" while checking for them in this very same menu. Once you have character at the level required, when you will start an adventure, the game will auto detect them and let you choose among the list. :)

Oh yeah! I'd equipped myself with a myriad of magical armor and weapons from some of the worshops' starter dungeons, and had a dwarven paladin (Oath of Einar), a wood-elven ranger, a Marsh Halfling barbarian, and a human sorcerer, Mana Painter.

Hey there and thanks for your time and feedback. If you have it, can you send on official discord a save file where the dial is bugged please ? Apparently the last patch caused some trouble for some users and it would help dev to fix things that way.

Also I'm not against making fight easier (or more difficult) at all, though it's very difficult to balance depending on " different party creation possibilities". can you tell me what was your party / what level reached for this fight / and also was it a new party and if not what kind of item did they have at start please ?

Alright! Finished it -- tough last fight; I know angry gamers always foam at the mouth when I suggest that, but perhaps ease up on that? I avoided the hermit for a while until she returned to her hut, and thankfully that solved the bug problem. Thank you for creating this; I loved the lore.

I also cannot exit the conversation with the hermit -- tried twice now. Too bad; the story looks so interesting and has the big per of being actually set in Solasta, using the lore (which I admire creators like you for).

Update 1.2 : Some bushes became solid after a game update. They were re-placed in order to let access free for player.

Hey @Gawgi, thanks for time and your feedback. Apparently some bushes assets (1x1) became solid object with the last version of solasta. bug reported to dev + bushes moved meanwhile.

For the second point I re-tested all dial lines/quests completion with the hermit and all was fine. I'm on the 1.3.47 version with no mods. Are you on the risky beta and/or do you use mods (if yes which ones please ? I'll report to modders in case.)

For the third point. Some of the trees (like the ones at the start that blocks camera) are borders that I can't deal with. I'll check and see what I can do for the inner ones: I guess you speak about the "left side" after the Hermit. Balance between "wild nature" and "inhabited by large creatures nature (more clean space)" is a thing with jungle env. though I understand that so is the player visibility. No promises with this then but i'll see what can be done for a next update.

I'm playing the 1.0 version I believe. I saw a couple of problems. One was at the start, I saw a chest/loot container that I couldn't click on. No matter what position I moved to, I could open it. I opened the other container there by the entrance.

Second, I met the hermit and had a conversation. But when one of my characters responded after we got the quest with something about "great" in it, the dialogue didn't progress. I couldn't move the dialogue forward, I couldn't save, and I couldn't exit the dialogue. It remained stuck on that character line.

In general, the visibility was a bit challenging because of all the trees. It was a bit frustrating to try to move the camera where I could see. Unfortunately, because of the second bug, I couldn't progress beyond the hermit.

Update Version 1.1 - The adventure had a little nerf for the final encounter. If the fight feel still too hard, thank you to report with the "party used"- "what lvl" and "what was the hard point during your playtest". I'll see what can be done. Thanks & Have fun :)

Hey there and thanks for your time and feedback @Sovrin.
Just so you know, the encounters were not made randomly at all and were tested a lot. As the story was "short" I felt it would be more interesting if the fights were rude enough (especially the last one but the party should be level 4 at this point so I'll re-check where the party can miss the experience points to stay at lvl3.)
However -
it's noted that all feedbacks leads to the need of a lower difficulty and I will do something about this when I'll have the time to do. ++ :)

Even if we ignore these guidelines for encounter design, the fey eagle deals 2 X 4D6+6 (avg dmg 20 each) , the ape deals 2 X 3D10+6 (avg 22.5 each) melee or 7d6+6 (avg 30.5) range. These damage would one shot most level 3s (except barbarian). The barbarian would easily be taken out too if initiative is too low to rage before the attacks.

Having said that, I still enjoyed it because of the environment design. The encounters are tough but the environment made these encounters doable.

Although I completed this on cataclysm, I still think that the two huge encounters are way too deadly for a level 3 party (even if played at authentic difficulty). Below are just my 2cents:

Encounter XP of 1600 = deadly for for party of four level 3.
The ape battle consists of 3 CR0.5, 2 CR1, and 1 CR7 means an encounter XP of 3300. The difficulty adjusted by the number of creatures means the overall encounter is 6600 XP or encounter challenge rating of 10. This would often lead to TPK (total party knockout).

The last encounter (3 CR1, and 2 CR5) was 8400XP or encounter level 12.

I think it has too many dryads and the eagle was nice additional encounter but added very much in difficulty . Like I said, with the powerful monster in melee, I avoided that area and spammed ranged attacks.

Hi, I ran too this adventure with barbarian, cleric, rogue, sorcerer. The tomb fight was almost exhausting. I tried to hide behind and spam ranged attacks. Ended up finishing in 40 rounds (Shame on me, I know). All in all, nice design!

we also found that most of the apes do not count as beasts for some reason, the ranger would not get favored enemy against the base apes but would against the bigger apes

we had a fighter (greatsword), Sorcerer (dragon heritage), ranger (two weapon shortsword shortsword), paladin (motherland spec), and it was the tomb and with the spirit eagle, we found that by the time it spawned we wouldnt have enough up to 1 shot it and it would just kill everyone in two turns, one shotting on each hit.
