still thinking of porting them to gmod? It would definitely be cool to have as a pm and ragdoll addon.

I'm hoping to eventually create an FPS version of Smash Bros using Valve characters. Probably as a GMod gamemode for licensing reasons. However, while a bunch of Valve related playermodels and weapons have already been ported to GMod, there's still a lot missing that I'm not talented enough to do myself.

I also tested in TFC for what shade of blue to recolor them to, and in the process learned that none of the grenades are team-colored. Not even pipes from demoman's pipebomb launcher

Then as I checked the models in HLMV I realized that every HD model shared the name of their older counterparts, causing them to be overwritten. So I had to edit the QCs AGAIN so that the older models had different filenames! Then, just when I thought I was done, I realized the 3 sentry levels and the teleporter's textures were ALL named DM_Base, overwriting each other. So I had to decompile each MDL separately, rename their texture file to something else, edit their SMD models in Blender so that they'd use the renamed textures, and then realized I had to edit their QCs again because they got overwritten when I re-decompiled them. Finally, after ALL THAT, well, you've already read the description.

seriously though, it was a tedious process; crowbar has an option to extract the BMP textures from the goldsrc MDLs, but I had to edit each QC manually to replace/remove outdated code so they'd compile properly. Then I had to upscale all the BMPs and convert them to TGA format (Fortunately, I was able to find a free program that could do both simultaneously). Then I needed to resize all the resulting TGAs in GIMP to the nearest power of 2. Then I made a shortcut to vtex with some commands to make it create .vmts alongside the VMFs.

Isn't TFC a gold source game?
How did you port them into 1013 Source Engine when the MDL coding is completely different?
