thank you you're the best!

Thanks for answer, tho I'm alredy modding other game, don't want to sink in other rabbit hole here to upset my "fans" there. Just took a brake for a litle Rimwording.

@ Snorri I'm glad you're enjoying the mod! :) I have entertained the idea of adding leather as an option for the sandals in the past, but for reasons related to the heat multipliers of wood vs leather, it wasn't feasible to have both as options. And the whole reason I got into modding to make this mod is I wanted shoes that WEREN'T made of leather for my vegan colonists who got angry every time they put on any shoes. If you really want leather sandals, it wouldn't be too hard to pick up enough modding knowledge to add some into your game, if you just reuse the art from this one.

THANK DUDE!!!!
Snorri 10 Jul @ 4:41am
Yo, thanks for the mod, my dessert classical run woud be lesser without your sandals. Can you make sandals require leather insted of cloth? Becouse leather is much easier to get in early game stages, it's more compatible with mods such like medieval overhaul that add a lot of different textiles, and well, cloth is a litter tricker to get there, and real life sandals in pre modern times were ofthen made from leather.

I just uploaded the 1.6 update! Thanks for dealing with my procrastination. ;)

To all the requests for children's shoes, I'll go into a little more detail here. As stated in the description, I originally made this as something of an expansion of Vanilla Expanded's Apparel mod, as they added industrial tech shoes and gloves but nothing tribal. The VE team hasn't added kids' shoes to their mods and adding them to this one would make for games where there were tribal tech shoes for kids but not industrial tech shoes for kids. That would bother me.

But more importantly, I did not make the art for this mod and kid's shoes would require new art. If you are good with vector drawing and you just really want your RimKids to wear cute little moccasins, message me and maybe we can talk adding them in.
Sephira jo 3 Jul @ 2:47pm
I hope this will get updated to 1.6 and one day, you will have children's shoes.
Shadow T. Hedgehog 15 May @ 3:20am
+1 on making childrens shoes too
tzverg 26 Mar @ 2:05pm
thank you for nice modification :steammocking:
River  [author] 26 Mar @ 1:56pm
Thank you, @tzverg! I've updated the description with the active link. :)
tzverg 26 Mar @ 6:59am
Elmano 15 Mar @ 10:56am
could you make them wearble by children too?
Iirly 17 Feb @ 9:41pm
Its wild. They are only giant when they are made, when they pawns put them on its fine XD.
River  [author] 16 Feb @ 10:40am
@Iirly That's a new one to me. O.o
Iirly 15 Feb @ 8:27pm
Is anyone else having a bug where the moccasins crafted are the size of a pawn? As in a pair of moccasins is physically as big as an entire pawn. I've made them before and this did not happen. But I've never made them with patch leather.
No Mic Tweetus 20 Dec, 2024 @ 7:59pm
Actually since you brought it up, what about clogs?
River  [author] 20 Dec, 2024 @ 7:39pm
@Persia The VE shoes are better, stat-wise, but that was by intention. I designed this mod to be a lower-tech complement to VE's shoes. If you want to play a tribal colony, stick with these. If you want to start your colony tribal and advance through the tech trees, start with these and then use the VE shoes at your tech advances. If you're broke as heck and just want shoes, the tribal shoes use lower resources and/or can be made at lower-tech crafting stations than VE shoes. Also, the sandals are the only non-armor shoes that are available to vegans from VE's ideology expansion. (They get angry when they wear leather shoes.)
Persia 12 Dec, 2024 @ 5:07am
Does also the footwear added by VE boost speed boost? Because if not, that would make these stronger than those
Fortresthreetrois 13 Nov, 2024 @ 8:39pm
Is there a way to make npc factions spawn more with these items?
River  [author] 28 Oct, 2024 @ 8:29pm
@dagoonite :D You're welcome! I'm glad other people are enjoying the mods! Tribals def get not enough love in vanilla.
dagoonite 27 Oct, 2024 @ 9:19pm
Thank you for this and the mittens mod. I tend to enjoy tribal starts and there aren't usually a lot of good ways to keep certain xenotypes going without continual hypothermia warnings.
Tenebrous Path 21 Aug, 2024 @ 8:48pm
Amazing work
River  [author] 16 Jun, 2024 @ 7:46pm
@2962342497 I have no idea what you're talking about. Sounds like some kind of mod incompatibility.
2962342497 16 Jun, 2024 @ 7:00am
Why do gloves use an eye ornament?
Jaggid Edje 16 May, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Have you considered making these wearable by children? Or are my tribal children destined to always be barefoot?
River  [author] 7 May, 2024 @ 5:41pm
@Theo It is done! I did like five minutes of testing but it seems to work fine! Thanks for the help and suggestion.
Theo 2 May, 2024 @ 12:22am
@River You just need to add "<li MayRequire="dankpyon.medieval.overhaul">DankPyon_TailorsBench</li>" under recipeUsers for each item.
River  [author] 1 May, 2024 @ 5:50pm
@Theo That's an excellent idea, but it's been a long time since I made this mod and my modding knowledge has atrophied quite a bit. If I get back into it, for sure. In the meantime, if you or anyone else wants to add that compatibility feel free to message me.
Theo 1 May, 2024 @ 3:01pm
hey, can you add compatibility between this, gloves, and medieval overhaul? It has a unique tailoring bench
Paprikahörnchen 11 Oct, 2023 @ 12:09am
Hello! Love the mod :)
Could you make them wearable for kids aswell? Hope that doesn't take too much work :D
Crins_Goblin 12 Aug, 2023 @ 1:12pm
anyone else having the issue of one colonist grabbing like 6 pairs of sandals (or either of the other apparel items) and leaving none for other colonists?
River  [author] 14 Mar, 2023 @ 3:36pm
@Pluto Thanks for the translation! I've got it linked as requested.
Pluto丶凌 14 Mar, 2023 @ 4:20am
Hello, River, I have made simplified Chinese translation for River's Tribal Mittens and River's Tribal Shoes. If possible, can you put links to them in your mod description? Just like the Russian translator, and thank you for your selfless work.
Tinda 29 Dec, 2022 @ 12:47am
Can we please get them in kid size too?
River  [author] 19 Dec, 2022 @ 11:56am
@Sauce__Godd, as noted in the Thanks section, there is a Combat Extended patch. I haven't personally tested the mod with CE since 1.4. Please let me know if you find any problems.
SAUCE__GODD 18 Dec, 2022 @ 10:19pm
CE?
River  [author] 2 Nov, 2022 @ 1:27pm
@beeatchfairy I'll probably follow Vanilla Expanded's lead. I made this mod to fill in what I saw as a gap in their apparel options. If they add industrial-tech shoes for kiddos to their mod I'll reach out to the artist I worked with about making some neolithic-tech kid shoes but for now I don't have any plans to do so.
And thanks for the note! I'm still humbled by how many people use and enjoy this mod!
beeatchfairy 2 Nov, 2022 @ 7:57am
Any chance you have plans to add kids version of these?? my poor tribe kids are bare foot lol ps I absolutely LOVE this mod!!! works brilliant for my tribes
River  [author] 4 Sep, 2022 @ 4:32pm
@chriswilliams115 Did you add the mod to an existing game? If so, the new items of clothing probably aren't on your list of allowed clothes. Access your default outfit through the assign tab and see if they have green checks next to them.
chriswilliams115 3 Sep, 2022 @ 9:56pm
I made some mukluks out of heavy fur and no-one would wear them, couldnt figure out why. So made them all fore wear them and everyone has the wearing human leather debuff. Any ideas why this is happening?
mesi 1 Aug, 2022 @ 5:46am
And this footwear as well (is also great)
River  [author] 11 Jul, 2022 @ 6:15am
@Tanyafilina Did you add the mod to an existing colony? If so, the shoes probably aren't in your lists of allowed clothing under the assign tab.
tanyfilina 2 Jul, 2022 @ 8:31am
Maybe you could add leather sandals as a separate recipe?
Btw, I've made several sandals for my colony, but pawns never get sandals on themselves, only if I say them to. What can be the reason? I have like 300 mods though :) But not the Vanilla Apparel Expanded.
River  [author] 23 May, 2022 @ 8:34pm
No hard feelings!
The Blind One 23 May, 2022 @ 8:11pm
It's her mod man, just giving my opinion on how I did it for myself for balance not telling her how she should do it for her mod. Apologies if I felt pushy River. I don't expect you to change your mod at all.
No Mic Tweetus 23 May, 2022 @ 5:59pm
Bruh you're getting pretty pushy.
The Blind One 23 May, 2022 @ 9:20am
My mod list is bloated as is and another shoe item seems excessive, I'm trying to keep it minimalist as possible while still offering interesting choice variety. Another classical roman era sandal as footwear isn't necessary imho as the one from this mod offers is practically the same (it actually IS a roman sandal lol). When you take out the cloth but reduce the insulation back to 0.1 it is quite fair in my opinion. Wood is extremely cheap but offers no protection other than filling a slot and the tiny speed bost so it is balanced imho. For added balance I could make it only have 80 HP rather than 100. So it deteroriates faster. Sandals have Leather/Wood as options in my tweaks, Slippers (Moccasins) have fabric/leather and Mukluks only have leather. Lots of good interesting choices that way.
River  [author] 23 May, 2022 @ 8:28am
Hmmm... I did the insulation like I did BECAUSE of wood's trash heat insulation. It would kind of screw things up to add leather as an option.
I will probably just leave the mod as is, but I'm glad you have tweaked it to suit your tastes for your game!
I like having a shoe option that requires totally different material requirements than the other ones. It would feel a little broken to not have cloth as a requirement for the wooden sandals (too easy to make!) especially since these don't require any research.
Maybe you or someone else could add a "classical" level Roman-inspired sandal, made of leather with a research requirement. I've seen other people wish there was something like that out there.
I'm glad you're enjoying the mod though!
The Blind One 23 May, 2022 @ 7:23am
Oh yeah, and thanks for the mod :) its just wholesome to put some protection on my guys feet ya know ...
The Blind One 23 May, 2022 @ 7:21am
If you do edit it, you should change the insulation factor on those sandals as well. you have it set at 1.0 right now. If you make them out of leather it will give something like +25C heat insulation ... now I know sandals are nice and breezy when it comes to hot weather but a pair of sandals giving me the ability to survive the sahara desert just for wearing a bunch of flip flops is a little extreme. Set it to 0.1 and it should be much more balanced ;) (right now due to wood stuff having trash heat insulation the 1.0 modifier isn't as extreme). You may consider removing the cloth requirement, cloth is rather hard to get by in the beginning of the game. In my tweaks I gave sandals 0.1 heat insulation and moccasins (renamed them slippers) 0.1 cold insulation and allowed fabrics (2nd vegan option). This gives more options.
