The strength really depends on what dragon, and what range they are in for their ranged attacks.
some dragons are designed for hitting fast and hard, others are weaker and mainly for mounts.
and others are great for range, but kinda squishy in melee. so hard to give a accurate answer.
Assuming you fight with the dragons that are designed for melee combat (after 1 ranged attack both sides are gonna close the gap and turn to melee) the strongest dragons could 2v1 the dragon descent one, weaker ones 3v1. mount ones 4v1, i guess?
Those are all average numbers, but should give a reasonable idea of their strength
Quick question (sry if it's asked often i couldn't see it) how strong are these compared to the Dragon Descent dragons ?
The flight thing is a ongoing issue, no 1 can seem to find the cause, no matter how many coders look into it :p
the fix is simple, enable dev-mode and relaunce the game. you can turn off devmode once the game started.
As for the ability thing, if this dev-mode stuff doesn't fix that, please send a log in discord.
1: that's a good point, i'll change that. deathgripper definitely is not supposed to be friendly, the lore literally describes it as a killer. not sure why i made it 0%
2: i made them 0% because of the lore, they don't randomly attack unless provoked (with a few exceptions, which do have a chance to attack after failed tame). a taming attempt (no agression) feels weird to me for neutral dragons to randomly try to kill.
3: all dragons are in fact on 0.02% spawn chance, but the fact that there's 29 of them still makes them appear more often. Personally i like the current spawn rates, but if you feel like it's to high or low, ''Choose Wild Animal Spawns'' mod allows you to customize all spawn rates with a simple slider in mod menu.
Thanks the feedback :)
1. The Changewing is listed in the info tab as one of the easiest dragons to tame, but it requires a handling skill of 7. Meanwhile, the Deathgripper is described as difficult to tame, with warnings to be prepared to escape, yet it also only requires a handling skill of 7 and has a 0% revenge chance.
2. On the topic of revenge chance, all dragons appear to have a 0% chance of revenge on tame fail, which feels a bit unbalanced.
3. Lastly, while the dragons are listed as having a spawn rate of less than 0.1%, they seem to be spawning in abundance on my map, making them far more common than expected. (Not really complaining about this part love my dragons)
These are just some oddities I’ve noticed that might need adjustment for consistency and balance. Thanks for the great work on the mod!
We can't really figure out what's causing the flight stuff, several coders have looked into it.
may have it looked at again in the future.. for now just start the game in devmode and it works fine.
The skrills south are indeed a bit to big, i'm having them resized now
to fix it: relaunce your game with devmode enabled, after the game has started you can disable devmode again. all the matters is that it's enabled before launcing the game.
somehow this fixes everything, do this while we investigate further to fix this
it's in their gear tab.
If issues remain please send a message in the discord, maybe we can figure out what issue you are having
Make sure dragon descent is enabled to make it work, and make sure the correct load order is used. I've posted it on top of the mod description because it seemed to be a bit hidden.
However recently i did find someone, so it's being worked on as we speak ^^
However, you can gain some control over them with the *kill for me* and *hunt for me* mods.
*kill for me* let's you draft a pack of animals (dragons in this case), and make them attack your given targets, by ranged as well as melee (ranged can be enabled/disabled in settings)
Without a log it's hard to know what's going on as there's no issues on my end.
We can discuss further there to try and find out what causing the issue for you.
This is still the case in tonight's mission,I checked the log and there was no log exception when this happened. but the difference is that it only shows once when the character attacks the dragon, but it still shows three times when it kills the dragon after it falls to the ground. And before that,What's strange is that when attacking a dragon, it shows three times on the right side of the screen that the dragon is enraged. At the same time, when the character kills the dragon after it falls to the ground, it will also show three times on the right side of the screen that the dragon is enraged. And it's just one dragon, so imagine what it's like to have a lot of dragons on a map. I don't know what the cause is at the moment, because I did the same thing with version 1.4 last year and only recently reported it.
I tested it yesterday and personally i had no issues, it could be a mod conflict.
If you feel like there's to many in your game though, there's a mod where you can reduce the spawnrates to your liking. It's in the compatibility list on the description
I currently use your mod with other animal mods, including Dragon's Descent, Alpha Animals & Mythology. Comparatively speaking, the dragons from this mod spawn much more frequently in the wild than others. Not sure what the thematic goal of this mod is, whether it be making dragons more commonplace (like HTTYD), or just adding dragons from HTTYD. If it's the latter, I suggest making their appearance rates rarer, similar but not as rare as those from Dragon's Descent. It will make each dragon encounter feel more memorable and exciting.
I'll push an update asap
I'm not sure if it would help, but here [gist.github.com] is one of the logs from the troubleshooting session.
