Great mod.
I had the same issue with the plushie not loading but your tip to add credits worked.
I have been searching for a way to display plushies for quite a while.

@Herr Doktor, there's toolbar actions, so you could lmake it spin with a timer block?

@numb Charlie: i only just understood the comment, but the block isn't piped at all (it's like a freight container/bed inventory where you have to access it via the window of the case)

I've tried this mod several times with different mods and it NEVER allows me to place anything inside them. It acts as though it's not piped into anything as it turns gray when I try to move anything into either manually or via conveyors.

I tried the trick where you move space credits into, then replace with a plushie but I can't even get the space credits in it at all.

In fact, I've attempted ores, ingots, tools, weapons, plushies, bottles and components; none of them will go in.

I'm assuming this is a conflict with other mods, but frankly, it's never worked for me on multiple different games with different modlists.

Any insight? How can I get this to work?

Ore models are rendered a little my dynamically that most other assets. By default ores show up as black spheres when rendered inside the case. I added them to the blacklist on release because of this issue.I don't believe we can adjust the cases to show the proper textures and meshes, otherwise they'd totally be in there.

Ok, i was able to get some ingots into the containers. I had a stack of 10 in my inventory, and when I added it to the container, I still had 10 in my inventory... but the containers clearly were showing the correct resource inside of them.

Good enough for our purposes, thanks for making the mod!

also it's just a normal inventory, so if you have bigger *stacks* it should fill it up with however much fit, same as cargos.... one thing i haven't tried is changing inventory settings, will give that a go :)

yeh, weird... as you see in the screenshots i tested with both weapons and comps, and the server i play on has a lot of modded items that i regularly put in one of these... also keep stacks of stuf in it on a regular... still couldn't really replicate the bug (some other people were reporting it as well) when i tried :steamsad:
on work around that was suggested is when you put in space credits first then afterwards it works... no idea why that would be though o.O

I had tried a number of components (modded and not) and weapons (modded and not)
I WAS just trying to drop a stack from my inventory right into the container with the assumption that the container would only take as much from that stack as it could hold....

If you need to drop 100/500L or less of a thing into one of these containers for it to work then thats probably what the issue is. Will try again this evening and let you know how it goes!

heya godimas what kind of items are you trying to put in? everything except ores should pass the filter, though the size might be a limitation (100L so that stuff doesn't dangle out of the window e.g. bottles are bigger than the case and 120L volume)?

Having trouble getting items in these containers as well. Playing on a hosted server, and ill link you our mod/script list below. Not all of them are currently active, and there are some scripts on the list (not installed on the server) for ease of reference. So far, the only thing I have managed to get in the cases is Space Credits :P

The plan is to use them as a way to unlock tech - fill enough of them with a specific thing to earn a new goodie kind of deal. Not sure whats happening with the mod, but if there is anything we can do to help debug it, please let us know!!

@claudeklineii that is suuuper weird, it should be in the inventory (the thing that you see is more of a projection than anything and keen inventory handles the actual item - thought that would make it safer as well)

@tuks I'll work on the list, it may take a bit since i use a lot. I also lost the plushie i had in the case on the next load, it just disappeared. Not sure if it went on it's own or if i grabbed it in cleanup and didn't notice

@claudeklineiii I had the same problem but found a workaround, 1st have space credits & Plushie then load the SC into Display case first then swap the Plushie for the SC and it displays the Plushie, don't know why but it works.

Samples of ore - YES! This was a 'dream' project I wanted to make - a museum showing "ores from the galaxy". Best way so far is just to have a container sitting there.... - a bit of ore in a display case - WONDERFUL! At least this mod gives more variety for indoor decorations - a sorely needed addition, thanks!

Absolutely incredible! Being able to have a block interact with items is something I never thought I'd see in SE. The only thing that would make this better would be being able to display ores (like samples from a specific planet or asteroid)

This looks fantastic. I always thought a turret mod that held and fired character weapons would be cool but imposible, I never thought blocks could interact with items in this way. This mod proves me wrong, I might actually get around to looking into my idea instead of just daydreaming. Good work!

I guess what would be better is the ability to place one display plack and in the controls we can spawn 'item nodes' and we move them around we then assign the item node what object it can display. Through one block we can dress a scene with clutter thats locked to the ship.

I guess this idea wasnt in the original scope of the mod but it would be a very very useful tool and would allow designers to really bring builds to life. Would be good to think about as a stretch goal after you have done everything you wanted to do with your mod

You could always do the dlc ones as a addon mod to this so the main mods not dlc locked but for those with the dlc can grab the addon. something to peg as a maybe when everything else is done

The point of the offset is so we can make a more natural looking clutter instead of having one item per block, you would place the display plack on a block but then offset it to it can overlap with another block so and then with rotations you can have say tools leaning on eachother

An example to make something like this i would place items placks in a grid one per block then i would offset them so they looked like in the picture

It would allow for scene building without having to worry about physics, can have realistically cluttered rooms wile it still being a moveable grid

@Bluestar -> planters, shelves etc probably ain't gonna happen cos they're not vanilla... not a huge fan of putting it behind a DLC tag... but I might check some modded models and ask for permission to use those (I think weapon rack e.g. was a mod before anyway :) )

also ... rotation is already a thing, offsets would be too much clutter (there's enough controls already :D)

On feature that would be nice is similar to the adjustable lcd mod were we can offset and rotate the 'display' block specially for the single item plack block so we can use it to offset items so they have a more natural placement look and less grid locked. I think adjustable lcd shows how to get blocks to have the ajust settings the mod offers so you should be able to connect your mod to adjustable lcd for that feature

I can see its been suggested already but, minimal placement placks to put items on, were the item pretty much hides the plack so we can place them on tables then have items that simply look like there on the table.

Replacing the vanilla blocks for
Tool shelves, ammo/weapon racks could have versions of the cargo boxes with the lids off(the decor ones)

I had a thought of a simple platform we can use as pallet, my thought is we place down a magplate then a pallet surface block this would be a simple square surface that sits on top of the magplate this acts as a cargo box and visually shows its contence and stacks items in a pallet like format. For a pallet it might work best if they were limited to one item type so the items stacked neatly. but users could just keep to that them selves

Simple peaceable floating shelves, or a modular shelf that visually stacks together would be cool
