Updated for game version 1.6

After a quick test, everything seems to work fine

[Looks at the number of hours I've clocked up] I'm afraid it's too late for me, boys

I appreciate you for making the mod, but I'd like to suggest that arbitrarily forcing users to use your mod in a specific way when you can give them options (there is a toggle switch for most of the other features in this mod...) is an anti-user approach. Users can disable the mod at any time, so adults using your mod have to police themselves anyway without a specific time limit being baked in. There is a use case in "lock me out" style apps where 'annoying by design' serves to help the user keep their goals (like long pass keys to uninstall). That would be good design philosophy. But in this case, because the mod is so easy to bypass, it appears that the annoying design doesn't serve a purpose that's beneficial to the user in any way. Again, thanks for making the mod. Rimworld needs a mod like this. But I'd implore you to reconsider your stance and give users more ability to tailor your mod to their needs.

@Digital Pink
I decided to enforce the time limit of maximum 1 hour because that's the fundamental design philosophy of this mod. You install it to force yourself to take a 10 minute pause at least every hour. It is annoying by design.
Digital Pink 25 Apr, 2024 @ 4:33pm
Hey there, great mod. I have a request. I read earlier that you are not responding to requests to extend the time interval because that would require a rewrite of the mod. I'm wondering instead if you'd be able to add an on/off checkbox for the default timer? The newer "allowed daily interval" function is enough to enforce my bedtime, which is what I want the mod for, but I personally don't have a problem with playing for a couple of hours after dinner. But as the mod is, it makes it prohibitive to use if I want to do a session longer than 1hr. Is this possible at all?

Cool!
Manulinkraft  [author] 16 Mar, 2024 @ 6:49am
After testing, I confirm that the mod works on game versions 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 (beta)
Manulinkraft  [author] 16 Mar, 2024 @ 6:23am
The update adds support for Rimworld 1.5
If you experience any issue on any supported version, let me know.
Manulinkraft  [author] 16 Mar, 2024 @ 6:22am
@Hewerine
When the alert is shown, game speed is capped to 1x and can't be increased. Also, the game will pause the simulation frequently. If you do not experience this, another mod may be causing conflicts with mine. See the "COMPATIBILITY" section in this page.
caroline 1 Mar, 2024 @ 6:59am
can you add a forec slowdown also?
MauseLoch9000 8 Feb, 2024 @ 5:22pm
I wish more games had a mod like this. The mod I literally didnt look for, but the mod i needed.
Manulinkraft  [author] 9 Jan, 2024 @ 11:07pm
@Cantaloupe The Clown
No, right now it is not possible to extend the allowed play time past midnight.
The best solution is to quit and restart the game.
I added an issue on gitlab to track the progress on this feature.
Maybe I will work on it in the future
Cantaloupe The Clown 9 Jan, 2024 @ 9:26pm
this mod is saving my life rn. is there a possibility of reversing the allowed play window setting? I wanna be allowed to play up until 1:30AM, but I don't think that's possible with the way the mod settings are currently formatted. I can only figure out how to make it up to 11:59PM.
Casually 14 Jul, 2023 @ 12:42am
I hate this mod. It makes me close down the game and do ridiculous things like work, responsibilities, hobbies, socialising, exercise.

It's perfect.
Sir Luis 10 Jul, 2023 @ 9:36pm
ok mom im turning the game off. who remembers that? you use to look for that?
Manulinkraft  [author] 8 Jul, 2023 @ 12:54am
I just released an update:
* you can now enable a new option to automatically save and quit 5 minutes after the alert is shown (as requested by @KemonoAmigo and others)
* added the patch by @llunak so now the "allowed daily interval" is checked during gameplay, not only at the beginning. So you can't start the game 1 minute before the time limit and keep playing
* minor project maintenance

I will test it (on Rimworld 1.4) over the weekend to see if I find bugs. If anyone finds bugs, especially on Rimworld 1.3, do tell me.

I won't answer requests for a longer time interval option. The maximum of 1 hour is long enough, and increasing it would basically break the fundamental design of the mod.
serdnaley 31 May, 2023 @ 12:21pm
May be someone will do it for a several cups of coffee? 😁 I can pay for it some money in crypto, just let me know
KemonoAmigo 2 Mar, 2023 @ 5:48am
Completely understandable. Visual Studio is extremely confusing to me and the little coding experience I have is with Skyrim which has A LOT of documentation and tutorials unlike Rimworld.
Manulinkraft  [author] 2 Mar, 2023 @ 2:32am
@KemonoAmigo
Yes that would be very easy to implement, but I'm too lazy to pick up the MOD's code again. I may do it in the following months, if I have the time.
If any developer sees this message, the git repo is 100% open for contributions

It's tracked in https://gitlab.com/manulinkraft-rimworld-mods/its-time-to-stop/-/issues/3
KemonoAmigo 1 Mar, 2023 @ 2:30pm
Hey, I don't know if you accept requests but I'd like ask for another feature if possible.

Can you make a setting where 1 minute after the "It's time to stop" red alert appears, the game saves and quits automatically? I often find myself playing for an hour or 2 even with the game pausing constantly. I can't quit voluntarily.
Or if that's not possible, then quitting to the menu would be good as well.
Daddy 3 Feb, 2023 @ 10:22am
Who needs that ? Don't worry, I won't play much longer, just 5 more minutes, the time for my colonists to finish the new hospital beds and furnitures.
And maybe take care of that mechanoid cluster.
Ok, 10 minutes tops, I swear.
Manulinkraft  [author] 18 Jan, 2023 @ 10:20am
@River I fully agree, and that's why I'm reluctant to increase the max time limit in the settings.
I understand that it's up to personal preference, but if the mod allows users to play for 4 hours straight then it's useless.

Of course I could always implement more complex logic to enforce pauses without rebooting the game, but dealing with undocumented rimworld code is not that easy for me
River 14 Jan, 2023 @ 10:52am
This mod changed my life.
Found it on NotBadCat's Youtube channel a while back. At first I thought a one hour max was absurdly short, but now I enjoy those breaks between play sessions. If you're the kind of player who will start playing "for a bit" and then find yourself totally absorbed in the game four hours later and only hunger persuades you to get up from the computer (only to bring your food back to your computer) give this mod a try.
Manulinkraft  [author] 28 Nov, 2022 @ 12:25am
@dream @Teusdv
I added that in the TO DO list, so eventually it will be implemented
Manulinkraft  [author] 27 Nov, 2022 @ 9:49am
@llunak
the mod is now on gitlab
https://gitlab.com/manulinkraft-rimworld-mods/its-time-to-stop
I hope I configured it correctly.
Try making a pull request and we can continue from there.
Teusdv 26 Nov, 2022 @ 7:11am
@dream /2 i wish only the feature of not being able to play outside the range
llunak 26 Nov, 2022 @ 5:09am
@Manulinkraft Yes, gitlab is fine.
Manulinkraft  [author] 26 Nov, 2022 @ 3:44am
@llunak
Thank you, and yes I'm interested. As of now, I'm not hosting the source code anywhere, so collaboration would be difficult. Say, would gitlab be fine with you ? then you can make pull requests and add features.
I can test & upload updates every once in a while.
llunak 25 Nov, 2022 @ 11:28am
The allowed time interval is checked only during game start. That means that if I start playing at the last minute of that interval, the mod still stop me only after the time runs out, far after the interval.
If you're interested, https://pastebin.com/ZWKhh4Z8 is how I patched it locally.
Would you be interested in contributions? I'd like to add an extra checkbox that would prevent changing any settings later than 5 minutes in the game (as otherwise it's way too easy to avoid the lock that way).
dream 4 Sep, 2022 @ 11:11am
Thank you for this mod. Personally I wish I could set the limits more freely, up to 4-6 hours (as I leave the game running all day but actively play very little) or even turn them off completely, only leaving the interval, so I can't play past my bedtime.
KemonoAmigo 9 Aug, 2022 @ 8:51pm
Rimworld is the only game I can play for more than 6 continuous hours and close the game still wanting more. This mod is great because no person (unless they're being paid for it like pro players and such) should play games for that long without pause.
Manulinkraft  [author] 9 Aug, 2022 @ 12:47pm
In the latest update I added an "allowed daily time interval". If you load a savefile outside this time interval, the alert will be shown.
So now you will not be allowed to play before 7:00 A.M. for example.
Let me know if there are bugs or other problems.
Cantaloupe The Clown 8 Aug, 2022 @ 1:19pm
I love the schedule idea most of all, I should not be allowed to play this game after midnight lmao. adjusting the max amount of time allowed is super easy - I did it myself before the update, so that one's kind of a no-brainer
Izu 5 Jul, 2022 @ 2:01am
One of the best quality of life additions. Except the life is the one outside of the game, not inside of it.
Manulinkraft  [author] 17 May, 2022 @ 10:24am
@jupiterLILY
sure, if there is enough interest i can try making some of those. If someone else would like to have one of those features, write it here in the chat, so that i know where i should start from.
jupiterLILY 17 May, 2022 @ 9:26am
Thanks for the update, this mod is great. Would love some more flexibility though.

Personally, I'd like to be able to adjust the cooldown period up to 3 hours. I'd also like to be able to set my play time up to 4 hours (I do get up and potter about, I promise).

As I'm writing this I'm thinking there may be some people who'd like to be able to set themselves a limit of x hours over every y days.

I'm also realising there may be some people who'd like to be able to limit their amount of in game time too. eg. only being able to play 2 quadrums.

Last idea is being able to set a bedtime or being able to set hours where you're not able to play kind of like the scheduler.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a laundry list of requests, but you seem smart enough and if you don't ask you don't get.

Ta :)

98 hours past two weeks, almost twice as many hours on this game as the next runner up on steam, I might need this mod
Manulinkraft  [author] 12 May, 2022 @ 3:36am
I added an optional feature to enforce a 10 minute "cooldown period" after quitting the game. Also, the maximum time limit is now configurable in the "tweakvalues menu" in debug mode. let me know what you think.
VelxraTV 8 May, 2022 @ 4:38am
Now this is a warcrime
Andraus 7 May, 2022 @ 9:14pm
just wish I could set it to two hours instead of the maximum of 1
BrGuardian 6 May, 2022 @ 3:44pm
If this has 200% chance to piss you off, its perfect. for players that have problems with the time spent playing video games.
PhantomCrusader 5 May, 2022 @ 10:55pm
The mod should crash and brick your pc, that would be quite effective.
Owen 4 May, 2022 @ 3:24am
ecks dee
dirlewangalis 3 May, 2022 @ 7:25pm
@urist there was a mod that makes RimWorld unplayable.
Or it was for Skyrim, either way. Great mod.
net 3 May, 2022 @ 1:57pm
Now we just need a mod that uninstalls rimworld upon game start-up
Abacus with a screen 3 May, 2022 @ 6:19am
-152.5 hours past two weeks

This is the most essential mod for rimworld
Andraus 2 May, 2022 @ 3:36pm
what do you mean we need to have a life outside the rim?
jupiterLILY 2 May, 2022 @ 12:38pm
Please can we have longer duration options?
TSense 2 May, 2022 @ 10:18am
what do you mean it doesnt just crash the game after a timer?
