This is a simple xml patch to the roomstatdef for outdoors, it works fine in 1.5
heymegalodon 28 Sep, 2024 @ 9:26am
still wait for 1.5

i don't want to be "That Guy" but is there gonna be an update to 1.5? or is there a mod that does something Similer

A nice idea, but not in the scope of this mod.

actualy, i think eating outside near the camp fire it should give mood boost. just think about griled meat on camfire and in real life :)

I can always take a look... Maybe set aside some funds for a programmer, maybe see if cleanliness range code is in any of the 90 framework mods...

drat, that's what i feared, oh well thanks anyway

Outside of my scope but a great idea. AFAIK Rimworld just checks indoor vs outdoor. I don't have the ability to only calculate Outdoor in a range.

i doubt this would be easy to implement, but it would be really nice if it simply took into account the immediate surrounding area of the stove/campfire when determining if poisoning should occur. because i agree with you that its hard to justify removing the penalty outright, but it should still distinguish between a clean stone floor instead of filthy bloody dirt.
consider it a suggestion! ive always wanted this!

High heat and UV radiation do, in fact, kill bacteria, viruses, some fungi etc, though not all! It doesn't make sense for the chance to be so high though as a good cook will know how to safely prepare, store, and cook their food.

Thanks for this

Sunlight and fire have never been known for killing bacteria :) Most food poisoning is cross contamination from dirty surfaces or being left out at room temp where bacteria grows.

Love it! I enjoy doing neolithic runs without building structures for the first few months until it gets cold and the goddamn constant food poisoning has been crippling my colonies. I've been resorting to dropping the food poisoning chance with the custom scenario settings to deal with it.

rimworld is ... special ...

It's just cooking your food. Indoors or outdoors, you're still cooking the food. I guess outdoor grilling or camping is something some folks believe is a wild fantasy and that food simply cannot be cooked outside without giving you the puking shits of doom.

I can only guess that Rimworld tradition is to scrub one's hunk of raw, bleeding meat in the dirt for extra flavor before lightly waving it over the campfire or something.

Nothing kills germs like god ol' sunlight UV and fresh, well circulated open air.
