update?
Dan 17 Sep, 2024 @ 3:48pm
I have an idea for people who, like me, do not want to have historical rivals after the disaster is passed.

What about we delete the 2 lines with "add_historical_rival = ROOT" in the mod file in Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\236850\2805088800\events ?
ChristianGuy 9 Aug, 2024 @ 9:34pm
Absolutely. If and when I get done, I'll make sure to put you there. Thanks!
Plati  [author] 9 Aug, 2024 @ 10:03am
@AmericanGuy , if you add me as author so I also appear in right corner 'Created By', not just a mention in description [imgur.com],

sure, no problem, then
ChristianGuy 9 Aug, 2024 @ 9:36am
Hey friend! I'm making a mod that covers a large span of time, and I'd like to include a similar mechanic as part of it. I wanted to ask if I could use part of your mod. I would of course give you credit. I really like the idea of a natural rise and fall mechanic. Would that be okay? Thanks!

If one survives the first eclipse, will it happen again in another 100 years?
Plati  [author] 27 Dec, 2023 @ 3:32pm
@Random Guy, its still functional as it has pretty simple script and so should be friendly with most mods. As for updates, I am working on a more fleshed out 2.0 version.
Random Guy 27 Dec, 2023 @ 3:30pm
When will this get an update? i want to try it with ET
Plati  [author] 3 Sep, 2023 @ 11:13am
@Lekelokobs, no

@One Casual Player, complimentary
Lekelokobs 3 Sep, 2023 @ 10:54am
Does the historical rivalries go away after the disaster is completed?
One Casual Player 27 Jun, 2023 @ 8:14pm
How would this work for the Ottomans' decadence mechanic?

Thar Ravkan 17 Feb, 2023 @ 3:52am
how about making it 200 or 300 years? every game I had large a Brazil and mexico killing my colonies in America and I still having a giant empire ending disaster for Spain and Portugal in the age of revolution would be nice so I can conquer them as Russia and unite Europe.
kal.at462 15 Feb, 2023 @ 12:41pm
@Shotty Man EU4 does not have the mechanics to simulate country collapse the way it happened historically. It's better to have something simple like this, than to have infinite blobbing.
Touch Me 1 Jan, 2023 @ 3:40pm
This is so badass man
Русскийбандит 10 Dec, 2022 @ 6:56am
Great mod!
The disaster not firing when in a 'Golden Era' is a nice touch
Rafiki 31 Oct, 2022 @ 3:10am
Does this mod alter game mechanics in any other way? I managed to form Prussia while being a Christian country with this mod installed.
Shotty Man 15 Sep, 2022 @ 12:26am
Good idea, poor implementation. The things that caused countries to fall are poor management, not some magic event that only occurs for the strongest nations but not the weaker ones. Historically, countries would postpone solving their problems until it all comes crashing down and wrecks the country. There should be some sort of decision-making system that gives the player some level of choice beyond punishing them for doing well, like some sort of series of events in which the player can either choose to solve the problem now at great cost or solve it later, and an accumulation of poorly-handled events could eventually become too much to bear. Right now, playing with this mod feels like playing Mario Kart. If you're in first place, you're gonna get hit with a blue shell.
NuklearOrange 6 Sep, 2022 @ 6:31am
I have surived every Rebel spawn, every war, every event, even had not one but two regency councils, but my eclipse just is never ending? It says that you have to survive for 25 years, but I've survived for nearly 50 and the disaster won't go away? I love the mod, other than the "historical rival" stuff, is there any reason why I can't beat the disaster when the condition is just to survive for 25 years?
ThunderBear 2 Sep, 2022 @ 12:19am
Love the mod. I can also vouch that it works with Imperium Universalis mod.
Milky 29 Aug, 2022 @ 5:33pm
i beg you to remove the historical rival thing from your subjects, this is the one thing that honestly is keeping me from wanting to keep playing with this mod
LucyyJayy 25 Aug, 2022 @ 3:37pm
haven't played this yet but i already love the concept, over the 400 year period this game takes place in, there have been TONS of empires collapsing, not just the ming. it's the whole reason why india was colonized in the first place. Can't wait to try this out
Cobex 23 Aug, 2022 @ 6:29am
Hey just a suggestion to remove the Historical rival thing it gives your vassals, because Historical rival never goes away, so it kind of screws the rest of your game, just make it so they hate you for 50 years or something
[PG] TheUltimateSayian 22 Aug, 2022 @ 7:49pm
Damn this comment section just got fucking wild all of a sudden.
kromulues 20 Aug, 2022 @ 2:23pm
@[16th]Nejtro It's almost like the Chinese People and the Chinese Government are two different thing. If you haven't noticed the 100s of thousands of Chinese people who protest their government and ris ktheir lives.
Nejtro 20 Aug, 2022 @ 4:20am
@god go study english in uyghurs concentration camps, i heard they have very good language teachers there
Saul 16 Aug, 2022 @ 3:55pm
Is it compatible with the mod ET?
god 12 Aug, 2022 @ 10:12pm
Are there any Chinese?
I can’t read English,I wish someone would teach me.
TheRealYoshi 8 Aug, 2022 @ 9:29am
the only requirement is that the country has been a great power for 100 years (which it has) but it's crossed off and the disaster doesn't fire. I've continued the campaign and the disaster did fire but it did 150 years after the game started even tho every power did their golden age during the first 50 years.

I don't know if it's intentional or not but it seems that the disaster doesn't count the years if the nation is in a golden age.
Plati  [author] 8 Aug, 2022 @ 8:20am
@Yoshi, select a country and then check disaster requirements, tell me which are missing (if the disaster doesnt show, mod is not active)
TheRealYoshi 8 Aug, 2022 @ 7:15am
Even then after 120 years not one of the great powers got the disaster once. Does the mod have some compatibility issues with converters?
Plati  [author] 8 Aug, 2022 @ 3:45am
If another country gets this disaster, you have extra 25(or 15) years of timer until you are under the risk again.
Plati  [author] 8 Aug, 2022 @ 3:42am
@DoubleBruhMoment, any other criteria may make the disaster avoidable, which is polar opposite what it intends. It *will* happen, the question is when and to whom.

Besides, the criteria is in practice more demanding than just 100 years - considering there can be one active disaster in the world at a time, one can get it in late 1700s.
DoubleBruhMoment 7 Aug, 2022 @ 4:13pm
@Plati Like I said, I think it just needs different criteria for the disaster to trigger instead of just "Be Great Power for x Years"
TheRealYoshi 7 Aug, 2022 @ 12:05pm
@Plati I've tried this mod in a AI only megacampaign but after more than 110 years the AI doesn't have this disaster at all even tho they are not in a golden age? Is it an issue with the conversion or maybe years aren't counted when a nation enters a golden age?
Plati  [author] 7 Aug, 2022 @ 2:53am
@DoubleBruhMoment, its technically 150 years , because disaster requires not to be in a Golden Age, which lasts for 50
DoubleBruhMoment 7 Aug, 2022 @ 1:40am
I think that it should be different from a country just surviving 100 years, maybe high of war exhaustion, low stability, or just have it be longer than just 100 years
Elbruz 5 Aug, 2022 @ 10:26am
-1 stability wasn't enough
shadowpunch11 1 Aug, 2022 @ 8:51pm
I think this mod is great, i do have one suggestion though, don't make the eclipse so devastating to colonial power houses. I saw Spain have an eclipse in my last game and they lost ever single one of their colonies by 1570 and that didn't really make sense to me.
Holy Doggo 1 Aug, 2022 @ 12:42pm
ill take "something pdx should include in their game" for 500 jeffery
Soñjer 30 Jul, 2022 @ 1:21pm
Fantastic idea, good mod!

However, the disaster trigger way too easily. It doesn't make that the world thinks 'oh yeah, x has been an empire since y year, it's bout time they crumble', even tho said empire is very solid

I would much prefer that the start of the disaster becomes easier to trigger overtime, and start whenever the empire become unstable (kinda similar to court & country event)
After that, the empire would slowly loss reputation (disaster progress), with eventually the start of the proper decline (disaster start)

Said disaster'd be fairly long, and exponentially have disastrous consequences, with a slow start that can be ignored, but eventually it would become insurmountable and end only with a very stable empire (after like ~10y) or the empire being a shadow of what is was

But then again, while my version is probably more accurate, yours is more fun.
I already have a few mod under me belt, so I can make my version and let the user choose if you'd like
King Mike1707 29 Jul, 2022 @ 1:23pm
Im playing an extended timeline campaign as byzantium. I started with justinian's reconquest. Then 100 years later the rashidum caliphate spawn and the disaster too. I feel it made my campaign feel historical, because without the disaster i could easily beat any country including the caliphate and persia combined. So i heavily recommend using this and extended timeline mod. because after a while the game gets too easy, and this mod makes the game more spicy.
moai 28 Jul, 2022 @ 3:04pm
From what i understand extended timeline gets very blobby over long playthroughs (moreso than vanilla) so I definitely second using this mod with it
Ava 28 Jul, 2022 @ 7:39am
@Kotton
Well, I wouldn't say that they survive it no problem. Yes, mostly intact in terms of territories, but I did find them bankrupt after one eclipse, which kinda makes them an easy target.
Plati  [author] 24 Jul, 2022 @ 4:40pm
@dignity, oh yeah, I bet it would create definitely interesting scenarios!
Dignity 24 Jul, 2022 @ 4:36pm
would this be good with extended timeline?
K0TTINY 22 Jul, 2022 @ 5:44pm
I like how the ottomans survive this disaster no problem!
GoatQueerLovesPizza 22 Jul, 2022 @ 12:51pm
Does this work with ante bellum and Xorme AI mod?
marat1793 22 Jul, 2022 @ 12:13pm
agreed with @Gaming Dealer. It'd be fine if it was temporary... but a permanent +50% liberty desire in all your subjects at the time?
Plati  [author] 20 Jul, 2022 @ 3:16am
@StormFather, took me several patches to get the final result, which im quite satisfied with. It destroys countries, creates interesting geopolitical environments and promotes playing as a released vassal. If im updating it, the updates will be insignificant.
