It's more or less working as intended as I wanted it a bit rarer than a Flamethrower. As for your status effects question, it's very possible, but I'll have to get around to it when I have more time. I got this mod and my Spardan Items mod at good stopping points atm and am just hanging out waiting to see if major problems are reported before moving forward with any other updates. Will probably do a Twinblades update next though. Add a couple more craftables, a couple more findables, things like that.
If you're looking for Doom, Queen Slayer in the above-mentioned Spardan mod provides that effect on-hit. #ShamelessShilling
two other weapons:
ferozium twin/double blade having an alt which sends flying/homing ethereal swords that decrease gravity of targets hit to juggle so it kinda matches the ferozium staff's magic aethstetic
aegisalt focusing on mobility or flurries and such, like the flurry skill on spears, except it would repeatedly dash back and forth, or a repeated thrust attack which launches pulses of beams to match that ranged aethstetic of the dual pistols
again, dont feel forced to do these unless you happen to actually want to implement/attempt these
Just really wanted to share some ideas and thoughts since I am now a twinblade fanatic
I use extended abilities so I can use up to three on one twin/double blade, the most pleasing results is when I use it on the titanium twin blade for maximum aerial combat.
Personally If you consider adding a violium twin/double blade I think it should be an aimable dash slash, which functions similarly to Sephiroth's octaslash (referencing the one from Smash Bros ultimate)
also, since violium broadsword has a funny spinny move it would make sense that a violium double variant would have something cool like that (definetly not suggesting this so I can yank the special ability off and add it to the titanium twinblade for even more aerial combat prowess)
btw dont feel forced to attempt this in any way however, just wanted to chat some ideas that popped in my and say again that this mod is simply amazing!

PS: can i ask you a favor
I am currently doing dual blade lightsaber for my star wars mod, can i copy a bit of your work with full credit to you of course ( i don't have the skill to make a new combo of my own )
1st i dunno if this intended, the combo moves make the player forward a little bit and with a bit of practice you can technically use this as an infinite jump
2nd i am pretty sure this is bug, after using the special move "slide dash" it often make the whole enemy in the level cannot be killed (did not receive any damage from any weapon to be exact), and the only way to revert this is to beam up and re-enter the planet.
I like the weapon design tbh so its shame that i cannot use it as for now.
