This requires you to change the max melee and and chainsaws in Left 4 Bots. This fix is not needed for Left 4 Bots 2 as this was fixed internally in their addon.

I found out that you have to set sb_max_team_melee_weapons to the amount of chainsaws and melee weapons you want the team to have, go too high and they will get stuck in this loop, set max_chainsaws higher than sb_max_team_melee_weapons causes the bug as well I’m afraid. My addon Bot AI Improvements attempts to fix this.

they still try to pick up chainsaw like and then swap back

Update: This definitely helps bots with picking up melee weapons if zombies are too close to them. :D
