It's not Alicanto that's a peaceful Basilisco, it's The Basilisco that's Alicanto but with added futuristic technology and weapons. Succesfully mixing Tech and magic is really impressive!

following up on the Martian's theory below; i can make up a bit of lore

Quilez needed something to raise their sales much higher than RoboSec. So, they have searched for years for the Alicanto, and they constructed a fitting apparatus to construct a mass killing machine, and because the Alicanto does not cooperate, they brainwashed it. Afterwards, they had finished applying the apparatus and this machine that once was Alicano became Basilico.

It looks like a ghost basilisco, i have a theory too, long long ago people used to build basilisco's for war and Alicanto was a type of basilisco that can help find resources to build more basilisco's
but a group of basilisco's were sent to kill Alicanto. Instead of running he disided to take the shots and beam to the base of the enemy colony, causing the base and himself to explode (that explains why Alicanto is just the skeleton) but now he came back as a ghost, to watch over his colony and sometimes help them find great prizes..some say you can see his golden shine in the night.....The End!
