@BetterBooty There are Grind To Learn 3. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3207654953
I did my best, considering the limitations created by Keens
Rezun 12 Jul, 2024 @ 8:03am
Unfortunately not worth this version. That's why I made my own wariant.

Try the newest Grind To Learn.
BetterBooty 11 Jul, 2024 @ 8:15pm
we're trying to get this up and running on a hardcore server, but it looks like we're having some challenges where its locking off some moded blocks, but we have no way of making those blocks to grind. is there a way to auto-unlock certain blocks (ideally non-vanilla blocks)?
kinngrimm 30 Apr, 2024 @ 4:18pm
Could this be done similarly like assemblers can learn components of none vanilla nature, that the grind to research could learn other modded blocks and include it into the tree when grinded?

mmm would a teared progression make sense by having to grind advanced parts more often (and not the same part multiple times, if such a distinction is even possible internaly)

I checked game with the Vscode decompiler. There is no other way to define the research tree structure other than xml (sbc) files. Good news: this sbc files can be placed anywhere, including GTL folders. So mod "GTL2 with SPECIFICMOD support" is possible.
Rezun 19 Mar, 2024 @ 12:03pm
Thank you, I'll contact you if I need help.
s.o.v.a  [author] 18 Mar, 2024 @ 7:24pm
@Rezun As far as I know, ResearchBlock must be defined in xml files in order for the block to be used in the progression tree. Even Keen not define this field for all their blocks. So I do it for them (script regenerate.py) If ResearchBlock are defined in any way (even within GTL2 itself maybe), other things are almost trivial (If you understand the code) Write me private message if you really want GTL+AWE in your scenario. I can help you with GTL
s.o.v.a  [author] 18 Mar, 2024 @ 7:02pm
@NightOps there is no tree. If you find it and grind it, you know it.
NightOps 18 Mar, 2024 @ 3:23pm
With this mod, can I only learn by grinding or does normal progression still work, but grinding a block learns that blueprint even though it may not be next in progression?
Rezun 17 Mar, 2024 @ 3:18pm
Hey s.o.v.a, thanks for hint, I have managed to add some defauld blocks as unlocked for the new players.

I am trying to figure out how to make the mod to work with some blocks from other modds. Wanted to add AWE weapons to it. Can you give me any hint here?
s.o.v.a  [author] 17 Mar, 2024 @ 1:41pm
@ALL I will accept bug fixes only to this mod. Feel free to publish your custom mod version if you want gameplay change.
s.o.v.a  [author] 3 Mar, 2024 @ 1:42am
@Xalarheth Hi! This mod redefines progression tree with some hacks. There is no feature to completely disable blocks.
Xalarheth 29 Feb, 2024 @ 1:54pm
Hello, I was wondering if this mod had a way to disable the building of certain blocks? Like if I wanted to disable the building of thrusters, batteries, and gens. I was watching Splitsie's Scavenger Hunt series and they seem to have disabled most end game blocks and enabled all other blocks from the beginning. I was wanting to do something like that.
CrossFade 16 Dec, 2023 @ 7:10pm
Hey, Thx, Awesome Mod!
But there is a little bug where you can't place/unlock SG Blast doors before you unlock the LG variant.
Rezun 23 Nov, 2023 @ 12:05am
Thank you, I will do a custom version for the scenario I'm working on.
s.o.v.a  [author] 22 Nov, 2023 @ 3:38pm
@Rezun Hi! Sorry for the long answer. I turned off steam notifications due to spam. Which blocks are open from the beginning are hardcoded in the script (end of file GTL.cs). You can create your custom local mod version since mods are plain text files. I disabled config files due to difficulties for the user to work with them. Creating a custom version of a mod isn't much more difficult.
Rezun 28 Oct, 2023 @ 2:04am
The config file in Storage doesn't get created. Does this mod allow for configuration, so you can choose what blocks are available at the beginning?
martingolding96 8 Aug, 2023 @ 2:23pm
@Keltskiy This mod replaces the progression system.
Keltskiy 8 Aug, 2023 @ 7:51am
does this replace the games default progression system entirely or does it add an additional way to learn blocks?
Ryoden 16 Jan, 2023 @ 9:59am
This mod seems to be working as of today. Thanks for posting it. Definitely synergizes well with Abandoned Settlements
martingolding96 29 Nov, 2022 @ 2:58pm
Wind Turbine and Solar Panels can sometimes be the hardest blocks to find so you might want to consider having them learnt by default. Just a suggestion.
Zóar 21 Oct, 2022 @ 6:41am
Hi!

Can you make it so that instead of knowing nothing, you start knowing some blocks? something like a whitelist?

It would also be great that instead of grind a block 1 time, you need x number of times to learn it completely, for example, you have to grind 3 times an engine to learn it.
s.o.v.a  [author] 17 Sep, 2022 @ 2:56pm
@o4mutt No..
DirtyMFC 15 Sep, 2022 @ 4:23pm
Is there a command that will reset my progression for to start again.
s.o.v.a  [author] 25 Aug, 2022 @ 7:04am
@Zassi12 Hi! It is technically possible to do what you want, but it seems to be better to have a separate mod for this. Otherwise we will break someone's game. Write to me DM exactly how you want to set restrictions. Easiest way is to use block color or grid name as a filter.
Zassi12 25 Aug, 2022 @ 1:22am
Hi, Just asking if its possible to add something to this mod a way to controll what players are able to learn like a color restriction or only full health blocks to learn. Im making custom map hoped to use yours but ran into problems it still works but the problem is the curent state of your mod makes it difficult to use in scenario.
s.o.v.a  [author] 24 Aug, 2022 @ 7:28am
Hi!
"Could not find component blueprint for MyObjectBuilder_Component/UnlockerComponent"

- everything should work even with this error.
BigNose 20 Aug, 2022 @ 10:12pm
Hi
Great job!
Can you friend me and explain how I can make this mod work with modified blocks?
Even if I have to change every mod
Unknown_Mercenary 20 Aug, 2022 @ 7:38am
Anyone know how to fix "MOD_ERROR: Grind To Learn 2" ---- "Could not find component blueprint for MyObjectBuilder_Component/UnlockerComponent" ?? I have tried removing mod, re-downloading, and file verification. Still can't seem to get it to work. Thanks in advance.
thelich 18 Aug, 2022 @ 12:13pm
Brokes vanilla tree for me. Many empty (+) root nodes, no hierarchy.
grandadgaming 20 Jul, 2022 @ 2:04am
@s.o.v.a Thank you :)
s.o.v.a  [author] 19 Jul, 2022 @ 4:30pm
Yes, progression must be turned on.
grandadgaming 19 Jul, 2022 @ 5:53am
Does this need progression to be on for it to work?
bobmichael301 18 Jul, 2022 @ 7:32am
Does this work when using a block grinder?
s.o.v.a  [author] 14 Jun, 2022 @ 5:21am
I can't unlock mod blocks without every single mod patching, so I don't lock them.
Lord Skarra 14 Jun, 2022 @ 1:25am
Odd Question, before i get this. Are all blocks part of this? I Mean i got modded blocks, blocks that don't exist vanilla style, modded weird blocks noone else uses. also how does this even work? like can i even get a large reactor? Where the hell would i find HALF of these blocks?!
s.o.v.a  [author] 10 Jun, 2022 @ 8:12am
I'll see what i can do.
Harukonea 10 Jun, 2022 @ 4:48am
Hi s.o.v.a
Is it possible to be compatible with Block Progression - Schematic Hunter 2260878270?
I think it would be just fine for unlocking blocks that just don't appear.
Thanks.
Thorn Blackwell 1 Jun, 2022 @ 10:51am
I am a fan of the original, and if you use the Modular Encounter System with Abandoned Settlements, Vanilla Crashed Ship Encounters, or a similar mod then salvage is the way to advance. Far tougher than the normal survival provided.
Malum Caedo 1 Jun, 2022 @ 8:31am
Exactly, what Darkaiser is saying is the problem I see with this as well...Other than that, amazing concept!
Darkaiser 31 May, 2022 @ 7:13pm
This sounds like a lot more fun than Progression. The only problem I see is learning a new block when you don't have an original one to grind down. Makes capturing stuff more important though...
cptnoname 31 May, 2022 @ 11:16am
No, from the start you have to follow the progression system in order to build anything. If you are to grind away your pod's O2H2 generator or the large thrusters of some downed cargo ship, you wouldn't be able to repair it unless you've already unlocked it. At least from my experience.
Dots 31 May, 2022 @ 7:54am
isn't this already in the game with the progression system? why do i need a mod that does the same thing or similar?
Naco 29 May, 2022 @ 12:43pm
Grind never stops fellas
Thorn Blackwell 29 May, 2022 @ 11:22am
A good workaround in multiplayer is to immediately rebuild the block so others can learn it too. Unless of course you're using Aww scrap. Thank you for bringing this mod back to life.
Goatroach 28 May, 2022 @ 7:32pm
Dang, wish I knew about this mod before starting my current challenge.
I'm doing survival with no advanced assemblers allowed.
Also have the Eat. Drink. Sleep. Repeat! mod and Plant and Cook mod active.
Realistic inventory sizes, 3x for other stuff (because full realistic is beyond tedious).
This mod would have been perfect for this hardcore challenge!
Well, there's always next time. Subbed! :selike:
s.o.v.a  [author] 28 May, 2022 @ 4:11am
It seems impossible to add support for other mods without changing them. So I've done the best I can - I don't lock anything from mod blocks. Even if the block is not visible, it may appear in the search.
sintri 27 May, 2022 @ 6:42pm
Just a note, what about modded items or stuff that on one builds with, is there an additional progression system for that? Like grind 1000 blocks of this type to gain progression to blocks of the same tree or something?
s.o.v.a  [author] 27 May, 2022 @ 4:46pm
I will add multiplayer support soon.
