Why spectral lictors Battleaxe attacks and Lemurian Legionaries Pilum attacks don't have Magic type weapon? as in "(Magic)". I only found out now, when i had army of spectral lictors struggle to hit illusions of illusionist, and i checked their weapons. was wondering if it was an oversight or some error that happened at one point in updates.

There isn't any such limit in the mod's code. It might be pure RNG. I know I got some weird anomalies, like having an 80% success ritual on one of smasher's other mods failing twenty times in a row (not an estimate, I actually counted).

Is it just me, or is Excavation ability for Unholy Arch-Bishops have a Limit where once haunted city has 12 Ashen Idols, Arch-Bishops stop finding them? i'm asking purely out of curiosity, since it fells like each time a city gets 12 idols, they start getting way more tartarians.

Or am i just being fooled by rng gods?

I don't know that I'll ever add it but I had originally planned for Orcus to get angry and invade elysium once the ashen emperor gets too strong.

That said I don't currently have any plans to do stuff like that with the ashen emp; I intentionally avoided having the class have much of anything to do with Hades.

I wonder if you have plans on (potentially) making it so that Ashen Emperor can either Ally or Fight Orcus? Not necessarily in a way of "hades stops being hostile" but rather "cooperation or violent overthrow"?

I'd be honest, if that was put into place, you might want to decrease the cost of the ritual for awakening titans. As it is they're already massively overpriced, if there's even more blessings to gain via lifeforce, no one will spend it on them.

Maybe 10 total would be best, locking additional 5 behind very expensive level 5 ritual, that charges fixed price with each use up to 5 times. kinda like Scourge King with fixed Priced ritual to empower his dark bless, except far more expensive.

Yes I had been considering just that, the current limit has always seemed a bit low to me. Perhaps not completely openended but at least increasing the cap to 10 or something would feel a lot better I think.

I wonder something: since you can Empower dark blessing only 5 times, i know that it is to keep Ashen Emperor from becoming far too easy at certain point, i was wondering however if, at any point, there will be an option to add more dark blessings? Of course by some absurdly high cost, in order to keep it with a theme of very slowly accumulating power. I'm asking since i personally like the idea of making invincible Unholy armies, kinda how High priestess with ziggurat can do with her faction.

Also, something maybe worth noting- the only difference between the various bless traits is cosmetic. A unit with red candles who's faction has 3 levels in El bless will still benefit from that bless, in addition to darkbless. So, 'blessing' type spells, like the ones in El's Prayer spell school, would apply the Ashen Emperor's bless, just like it does for El.

Seems reasonable enough to me. As a follow-up curiosity- is there a specific reason they lack any traditional 'reanimate' spells? I'm guessing it has to do with some mixture of it only giving regular undead, the insanity gain, and the class' ability to exhume a ton of corpses.

Several reasons.
1. I wanted the Ashen Emperor to stay Elysium focused as far as planes go, its supposed to be more Ermor themed than Lemuria, the Lemuria stuff is just bonus.

2. Hades is just a distraction, its primary benefit is large amounts of free gold, something that's mostly a non-issue to this class.

3. Thematically it defeats the purpose of them having to pass through the Soul Gate if they can just come and go as they please.

4. It leaves room for something I'd originally wanted to do and might still do some time in the future - having Orcus become offended at the Ashen Emperor and declaring war on the player.

TL;DR: I intentionally decided to ignore Hades, with 1 exception, because it doesn't add anything to the class.

Mildly curious, mostly because it has come up wrt a map project I'm helping someone with- is there a particular reason that the ghost commanders in this mod don't have the ability to plane shift to Hades like vanilla ones do?

Most units are just Sturm’s sprites directly. Empowered and armored versions are edits I made. Everything that had a Dominions equivalent has been swapped, except the priests, which Sturm never made resprites for.

Modified stuff, swapped out the sprites from the original mod for ones Sturm made + I edited. Most of the sprites are from their Dominions sprite overhaul.

Unrelatedly- I was talking with Sturm a while ago, and we ended up making a variant mod with some of his Dominions sprites. I don't feel super comfortable uploading it myself, so I wanted to know if you would like to do anything with the files.

Illwinter servers can play with mods, actually! I've done it many times. However, if the file name includes any spaces, it won't work.

I have played multiplayer with this mod many times so it does work, you just need to find out what the issue is in your circumstance.

If you're using the Illwinter Games Server you can't play with mods.

If you're using a private game server I have heard that you may need to edit the names of the folder and .c5m file to remove all the spaces.

If that doesn't work an alternative is to play hotseat using Steam Remote Play, just have there be multiple player controlled players on a team. That way you can play 'singleplayer' with multiple people.

Reasonable. I've played Lemuria a relatively fair amount, but I mostly used the thaumaturgs and senators instead of the centurions and such

I never game them it because they don't have it in dominions. I guess to be more consistent I should have also removed it from the armored spectrals, but meh.

Corpse generation from rituals is definitely weird at times. I have no explanation for it.

Found something probably noteworthy, though very likely either a compatibility error or an engine limitation- I've had the corpses created by an Arch Bishop excavating occasionally just disappear the following turn, specifically in multiplayer, without the expected amount of things being raised or made with rituals.

Beyond building graveyards and such, I usually keep my low-tier priests at home exhuming bodies. It’s quite useful for getting an Arch-Bishop up relatively early.

Well, if you need any help, I'd be happy to provide. Though I haven't done that many CoE mods, to be fair.

But yeah, I usually continuously build new armies with the lowest tier of priests and send them out to capture stuff, since even on Empire there's usually a fair few places you can take with the troops you get for relatively cheap. And yeah, all the large groups are amazingly cost effective. Which is a bit counterintuitive in some ways. Bulk discount makes sense but when you're limited in absolute recruitment numbers I think it would be a good balance change to make the smaller groups more cost effective.

Additional progression note- it’s usually quite cost efficient to make a Spectator as soon as you can get it for 50 lifeforce, and use the lemur idols it makes to speed to the next tier. Best to only make them in cities at first, if you can help it. + getting the Soul Gates before the upgrade past them, as they produce more value than the higher level Emperor does on his own.

I mostly only buy troops when I roll the really large pools, as the 20-40 groups are much more cost efficient

I’m actively working on Necrons, actually. And yeah- I usually stop recruiting once my armies are at a healthy size, and always save at least 75-100 to build an ashen/lemur idol, depending on the progression point.
