don't add spouse when making character, load into game then back out into switch character and add spouse after you have started the game. that is what worked for me i was running agot idk if that makes a difference or not

You can end up with an unmarried spouse as the new player character if you try and setup a marriage that isn't legal ( same with children who are too old ) , I need to sanity check that stuff at some point.

I think things are looking pretty good for an update this weekend or early next week. I had a fair bit of tech and medical stuff to sort out, then some travelling then catching up on everything I fell behind on during that but I'm almost caught up on everything I can't put off for a little bit right.

I did that but when I click finalize on the spouse, it makes them married by default. I don't see any option to make the spouse unmarried.

Hey Kalanyr i hope youa re doign well and that I find u in good health. I dont really like askign this as im usually a person that believes in lettign the process happen and run its course but I was curious how the update is comign along. i havent seen an update about it in over a month so i was curious how the update was comign along

i made my character unmarried first, loaded into the game then went to switch character, add spouse then edit the spouse

So I'm dumb and can't figure out how to make this work. I make my character and finalize and it's fine, but when I make the spouse and finalize it replaces my character as the chosen character. Can give any help?

Not sure about Character UI Overhaul I think it would but it would depend on what specifically is meant by Character UI. Total Conversion Mods that don't work would require specific compatches ( this isn't really avoidable because the conflicts are either UIs which aren't generically compatible or the way CK3 now handles accessories ( which is also not generically compatible )

There won't be an update because this has the same problem as the Total Conversions, there's no way to make it compatible with Better Ruler Designer and also work without it, but a Compatch for Better Ruler Designer is on my ToDo.

Yeah, I'm okay, thank you for all the well wishes. I am getting on top of things, apologies for the wait. I've also managed to get the Paradox Plaza mods working properly again * yay, a significant part of that is due to fixes by Paradox )

I do plan to allow Designing every one you can see on the Character Window eventually but that will require a pretty major GUI update so I have no idea when ( my vague plan would to be to reimplement a (modified ) Character Window in the Lobby Screen but obviously that presents some problems about how to break things out especially with regards with how to keep things up to date with future updates that change the character window ).

Going to amend that, you will be allowed to edit Herders by default, since if you elect to play as a Herder they automatically become a Nomad ( since there doesn't seem to be a herder game over condition, I assume this is true for any possible way you could inherit a Herder title: that it will become Nomadic or similar )

ETA - There are hard mechanical incompatibilities too.

This update to Spouse Designer will also not be compatible with games in progress that rely on game rules set in older versions. I'm changing the character edit restrictions to match the way the current game is structured, so that standard will allow you to edit any playable character (+ their familes ), unplayable will let you edit theocracies / republics / herders holders ( + their families ) , and the final one which used to be unlanded will become untitled and let you edit any character.

You still won't be able to indirectly edit characters with titles, if you want to change them you'll have to edit them directly (by selecting them) or the family of characters you're not allowed to edit. This should prevent anyone accidentally removing scripted stuff, and they can change the game rules to allow it if they want to give the Pope a child with Lover's Pox or something.

Ahh, I have run into a problem generating dead ancestors, which is that it's not possible to do dynamically, dynamically generated characters must be alive, characters can only be killed in the present, and it's not possible to dynamically change a death date, you can change the age of a living character but that just changes their birth date.

Won't be backwards compatible, there's incompatible changes to the GUI (not hard mechanical ones so far, but ones that would make it practically unusable (new localization strings to fill in certain values that don't exist in older versions )

I can't do anything about it, it's a Paradox code thing so outside of script. This is achievement compatible as it can be. Last time I checked it will work in game (as long as everything else is Achivement good, so no achievement locking game rules or over points characters ) as long as you're not in Iron Man even if the Lobby says not but I haven't tested in a while.

There's a code restriction on achievements (relating to if there are any Ruler Designed Characters you aren't playing ) and Paradox a) keeps changing how it works and b) doesn't make it consistent between the Lobby & Game.

Hey idk what happened but went to start a new play through after updates however whenever I add my wife it turns off achievements now even though both her and my character are able to get achievements

If you can use the Steam version I recommend using it except for screwups by me ( or maybe test versions uploaded to the GitHub ) it will always be the most up to date.

i apologise if this question is answered elsewhere, but i am a bit confused. First thank you for the mod. I started using it a few years ago, but have just come back to CK3 after a long break and am trying to update my old mods. My question is do you have to update it on Paradox Plaza before you update it on Steam Workshop? Or do i have to download it from Paradox Plaza. I have read the recent comments and it seems like you are having issues with uploading to Paradox Plaza. Again thank you for your wonderful mod.

As long as you don't want to edit characters while the game is in play, you can unload this after you've started the game, it doesn't actually make any ongoing changes. I will be updating this shortly, but Paradox Plaza and I are still having a discussion about if it wants to work (I've got 2 mods that won't finish downloading and that seems to be breaking it re-associating my Steam/Paradox mods with their Paradox equivalent )

have anyone tried using this mod with AGOT? seems to work fine, but i get crashes from time to time and i'm not sure if this mod is to blame (the only one in my mod-list that marked as yellow triangle, prob. due to it was made for another version of the game)

I would have to do some testing to check if's actually mechanically supported but I could a game rule for it if it is I guess (you can't do this in vanilla normally so the default gamerule setting would be not allowed of course).

Firstly, I have to say that this is a really good mod. Many thanks for it.

It used to be possible for me to create my own ruler for theocratic governments, which then automatically became feudal. Unfortunately, I can no longer create my own ruler for theocratic governments. Will this be possible again after the mod update?
At least I think it was possible with this mod. I haven't played CK3 for a while now. So it could have been a different mod.
