Harry Truman (of the Democratic party) made the choice to drop the atomic bomb on Japan. On August 6, 1945, the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima.

Truman is the one who oversaw the plans for the invasion of Japan at the time the Cold War between the Allies and the USSR and Warsaw Pact have started...
