Ahah yeah totally, sadly we can't do anything about spelllists of monsters. Eventually I'll check to cut some of the goblins in exchange for more shaman HP or something like that. I'll keep that in mind. This adventure was a "short section" of an overall thing that I'm actually totally re-writing from scratch (holden burg chronicles) so It will be a good occasion to improve there.

Sure it was two bards - Hope/Lore, Fighter - Spellblade, Wizard - Court. So I'm running spell happy, but low-mid hit points and middling AC till I can get them gear. And RNG was brutal, on multiple occasions the skirmishers were resisting sleep, then shooting through my fog and darkness landing 17's+ with disadvantage, capping my wizard which drops the darkness and then everyone becomes a pincushion.
I was just being cute trying to finesse it darkness, fogs and sleep, but had I had a more traditional party that could eat a couple of lucky shots and nuke, i'd have been in a better situation.

Honestly I wouldn't change much, maybe tone down the lightning, but it fits the theme, like you said, thats why he's the boss.

What kind of party did you use @Outlaw ? I'll have to come back on this module later so I'll be able to dig it a little if there is more balance adjustement to do in there.

Yeah for sure, and it was a combination of things, not just the Shaman, my party was rather squish and not a typical party, and RNG wrecked me from the skirmishers getting lucky shots repeatedly regardless of how often I save scummed.

Hey @Outlaw thanks for your playtime ! Yeah the Shaman can be tricky with that spell indeed. that's why it's tribe made him a shaman though. :p

I like the peaky Blinders reference, it's a fun romp, the only thing i'd change is the goblin mage nuking entire parties with Lightning. That was like the third encounter, and he rips that nuke on the second turn, pretty harsh.
